Reuniclus

I can understand why it could be banned. I ran into one recently and didn't expect it to be much of a problem as they usually are easily handled...but my opponent killed all of my physical attackers and it was game over from there. Its Sp. Defense cannot be broken. And it just healed up even if I hit it with everything I had. I could't kill it with Toxic thanks to its ability. So the only way to kill it was with a strong Phys attack which I did not have.

I had one hope left but it trick roomed and out speeded it. It is a VERY capable Pokemon and if played right its freaking amazing. O_o Do I HAVE to start packing sucker punch?
So it had all of Calm Mind (otherwise its SpD should have been manageable), Recover, AND Trick Room? And you didn't have anything that could wall its one attack?

Hmmmm lemme think....naw it just Psychiced. Or Psycho Shocked. He didn't take it out till all the threats were gone.

Bottom line it worked. The normal Reuniclus' I see were easily dealt with...but this guy traded in versatility attack-wise for versitility utility-wise. And it worked out. Plus 6 CMs is pretty hard to survive anyways so not like he absolutely NEEDED more than a single attack at the time.

Tyranitar says hi

What I'm saying is that literally any single dark type could have been saved, especially with team preview and all

Yeah but you can't see movesets via TP, so there would be no way of knowing what set Reuniclus was running, especially since it was revealed lategame. A +1 Focus Blast scares the crap out of dark types, who (usually) cannot OHKO back.

A Dark type doesn't have to OHKO Reuniclus to essentially take it out. If it did at least 75% damage with one hit before being taken out, anything with a decent attack stat afterwards can easily revenge it thanks to it's base 30 Spd. Reuniclus is super easy to revenge. That's why the bulky CM set falls to heavy offense. Only resisting two types and being so slow, Reuniclus can't consistently heal AND keep all the faster threats at bay. Either you try to PP stall a move with Recover and risk getting being hit by a crit, or you retaliate and kill and get revenged by the next mon. You don't even need priority to do so. So enough heavy offensive threats on a team can keep a Reuniclus at bay. Stall teams are another matter entirely obviously.

Spiritomb usually wins that one due to Pressure as generally neither can kill the other. Rank being immune to Curse is a major pain.

What about Mandibuzz vs. Reuniclus? She can still be used on stall teams, is immune to psycho shock, can taunt him to prevent both recover and calm mind shenanigans, and can roost off damage.

Just be careful when you roost. Modest Reuniclus can't ohko at +0 if you do roost, but you'll be crippled. He deals 68-80% to 252/0 nuetral natured Mandibuzz with +0 focus blast after roost.

She can also whirlwind and use torment(which is apparently really good.)

If you really want to go there, Spiritomb is immune/resists all of Rankurusu's commonly used moves.
Neutral to Shadow Ball, and HP fire if they're running that. Spiritomb's only resist is Poison, and why would Rank use that? Does it even have any Poison moves?
