5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

The professionals are talking in the Research Thread again, and eventhough
I don't understand too much of it, it has me worried:

I'm using a german DS-Lite and a german DSi, and I will import the UK Versions
of both Black and White (the german translators are just bad, I want to play the english
Version, but US Versions don't work with my DSi, while UK Versions do; thanks region-lock)
.

Will I be able to RNG on the UK Versions with my german consoles at all?
There seems to be some difference between japanese, US and UK Versions as
far as seed encryption is concerned, and the seeds I'm able to hit also depend
on some values unique to my DS('s).

Will RNG Reporter 9 be only supporting US B/W + US consoles, or will I be
able to use it with my unusual UK Black/White + german console(s)-combination as well?

Answered this question via IRC. The short answer is that I will try my best to support all game\console language versions.

The different language versions of Black\White are the biggest obstacle. As long as you have the variables for those you should be able to search for the DS parameters for any type of DS.

Hell I'm just going to ask, I've been looking this thread up and down for the answer to what I have a question of, and it's just not happening.

So here it goes:

I know that PID for Gen 4 (i.e., DppT) is drastically different than HGSS, and the same likely goes for 5th Gen. I've also read that you can now RNG abuse in 5th Gen for IVs, but my question is, like DPPt, is there a RNG method just to make it shiny, as well as a desired Nature?

If so, could someone please point me in the direction of what to do?

This is featured in RNG Reporter 9 (not yet released). This and a bunch of other features necessary for 5th Gen RNGing are still being worked on, so it won't be released until I've ironed the bugs out of the software and we've finished researching abusing shininess for eggs.

This gen you can get any IV spread with whatever nature. Shinyness is connected to PID only. So you hit a seed for IVs, find what PIDs you can hit(this is how it's done for now...), and then advance to the one you want. Shinyness is connected to a certain nature/ability for this seed though. And ID/SID abuse will be needed to get these shiny PIDs on lower frames on the seed. (The PID frame for shinys can be really high. D:)

I see..so more research is needed?

I´ve got a few questions:

Have I understood correctly that Zekrom, Reshiram and Victini can´t be Shiny?
Are there more Pokemon which can´t be Shiny?
And can I use PIDRNG without the use of an AR?

1) Based on the research right now, they can't be shiny.
2) Dream World pokemon caught at High Link. (OD EDIT: and the Zoroark\Zoroa, but those can be bred shiny.)
3) Yes.

Have one question: Does the game reseed once we capture some pokemon (or go into the fight or something)? Since I keep on getting new seed (according to MTRNG check) every time I caught some pokemon to check their IVs... ._."

It's not actually a new seed. The seed check code is somewhat of a misnomer. The RNG generates a lookup table of 624 values that it uses, and if it hasn't advanced at all, then the very first value will be the initial seed.

But it advances at a rapid pace during battle, and as a result it creates new tables of 624 values. The code is just showing you the first value in each of those tables.

Oh, alright...thanks for the answer...:3

May I ask why they can't be shiny? Does it have anything to do with RNG Reporter 9 not being released yet? Thanks in advance. :]

Aww, I see. So, our only hopes of getting a shiny version is if we wait for the 3rd version of the games and hope it doesn't do the same thing, or waiting for an event?

There's one thing I don't quite get in the guide.
Once our game is seeded with the appropriate Seed, we have to advance our frame to reach the one that will correspond to a certain IV spread (well, to the frame just before actually) and then interact with whatever we have to (daycare man, legendary, etc...)

But when it is said that we have to advance our frame to set Nature/Gender/Ability, are we talking about the exact same type of frame ? If so, are we only able to choose an IV spread OR a Nature/Gender/Ability ?

Bonus question (somewhat linked to the one above): do we have to turn off the C-Gear once we have our game seeded properly ? Because if it really advances the frame approximately by 1/second, landing on a particular frame might be difficult.
Just some RNG noob thoughts, do not hesitate to redirect me to an older post if these were already answered ;)

Okay. There are TWO RNGs you must advance. For example I want to capture say monmen. I hit the seed and advance for IVs. I then figure out the upper and lower part of the seed (for now) and put that in the front page of RNG reporter 9, and advance the PID RNG to the frame you want. You can get both. PID is the harder to do because NPCs advance it. And YES you must turn off the C-gear right after you turn it on.

Thanks a lot for those enlightments :)
The only thing being still obscure to me being the "upper and lower part of the Seed", but I suppose when RNG Reporter 9 comes out that will make more sense ^^.

Ok I have a question, I've been trying to RNG with a C-Gear seed in an emulator because, I'm too lazy to search for descent spreads in my ds and it also takes my PC like a month to finish searching and when i try to stop it just doesn't respond :/
Anyway my question is, when i try to hit a C-Gear seed in this case the best one for the emulator is this one:
7E2345BB frame 30 delay 4442 so when do I Soft Reset? Do I Soft Reset when the Date Given by the RNG reporter tells me?
like I soft reset at 2011/01/01 14:00:45 and from there I just wait for my delay to advance and then I activate my C-Gear when i hit 4442?

Thanks for your time!

Are you using a timer? ToastPlusOne has made an excellent timer that can assist you. You would start your clock and your timer one minute before your target time, then soft reset at the end of the first timer then enter your game and click the C-Gear power button. You don't actually click the button to turn it on until the second timer reaches 0. Basically, you need to turn your C-Gear on at your target seconds with the delay being that of your target.

If you're way off of your target delay, which you should be your first few tries, you catch a Pokémon, check its IVs, and input them into the Seed-To-Time "Search IVs" function. This will give you the delay you actually hit. Just input that delay next to the "update" button and click "update". Good luck!

No, you should activate your c-gear and hit your delay at the exact time given by RNG reporter.

EDIT: ninja'd

Aww, I see. So, our only hopes of getting a shiny version is if we wait for the 3rd version of the games and hope it doesn't do the same thing, or waiting for an event?

If you're talking about the Legendaries such as Zekrom, Reshiram and Victini, the wild poke Zoroark and the Zorua you get from Hiun City, the Dream World pokes you catch at High Link, it depends on the game developers' decision. So this we cannot answer. Anyways, you can still breed shiny versions of Zorua, Zoroark and DW pokemon.

Oh ok, thanks for your help guys! wow and I thought it was easier to do it on an emulator xD
It is imo.

Target time-74 seconds. (Using that specific seed with delay) I would suggest you make a savestate 1-2 seconds before target time in case you don't hit it the first time. (And don't waste another 74 minutes) This is with changing the computer time. I will probably have a tutorial by latest Monday.
