5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

So, without the use of an AR, can I ID/SID abuse tomorrow? Is there anything I can do pre-purchase to ready my DS? Is RNGReporter 9Beta ready for B/W with regards to Pandora's Box? Do I have to wait 'til B/W to even find my DS parameters?

Yes you have to have them to find the parameters. No, there is no Pandora's box for bw yet. This isn't the priority right now.

I'd like to echo the sentiments of the RNG researchers and #smogonwifi when I say:

Stop trying to RNG the game before you have even played through it.

Locking this thread until more research is completed. If you try to circumvent this by asking about how to RNG your ID\SID, shiny starters, IV\seed check codes etc. elsewhere, you will be infracted.

I am reopening this thread, but only under one condition:

All questions must be related to C-Gear RNGing. No asking about RNGing for your starters, your ID\SID, non C-Gear RNGing (which includes RNGing for shinies), etc. If you do, you will be infracted.

We should have a new version of RNG Reporter out by next Sunday, and you can ask those questions then.

I have a question about Breeding, does that happen with the C-Gear as well? If so, how?

C-Gear abuse can be used for anything except Wondercards and mons obtained before you get the C-Gear. For the number of frame advancements for C-Gear breeding, take the target frame - 10.

3 IVs will always be inherited from the parents which is controlled by the PID RNG. Unfortunately there's many NPCs on the route of the Daycare making the PID RNG difficult to control. So basically you'll need both parents to have the IVs you want the egg to have.

Nature can no longer be abused like it was in Gen IV. PID, nature, and IVs are all set when you obtain the egg. Nothing is set before then.

Okay, so when the Day-Care Man has an egg, I save in front of him and then RNG? Is there no way to influence Ability and Nature?

Hmm, is RNG abuse easier this gen? I never learn how to do it in Gen 4, I just couldn't figure it out...

There are two ways of RNG'ing, with delays as last gen. Or just with a time, but you have to figure out the Parameters for the DS, which I can't seem to do for my life. >.<
If you can figure out your Parameters, you'll be set for life on easy RNG'ing.

Is it possible to RNG on a DSi? I seen some comments somewhere that you can`t or know one has figured out how to yet...

About the bolded part: Maybe my logic fails me here, but as long as we
have control over which IV's are passed to the egg by which partent, we
might as well just go for a seed that lets the baby only inherit from ONE
parent; therefore, with the right seed, you should only need ONE parent
with the IVs you want for you baby, correct?

What you said is true but you are failing to realize a simple truth. Let me use an analogy. When learning to ride a bike, or even if you know how already, is it easier to use one foot or both?

With breeding it is similar. One might say, "you only need ONE flawless parent"; while this may be true, it makes things more difficult and your RNG'd Pokemon will take more than twice as long to obtain. It just makes good sense to have two flawless parents when breeding.

Well first of all, I have a mountain bike, and when I ride it I usually find
myself in situations where the ground is super-bumpy and one of my feet
slips off the pedal; I am able to ride my bike with one foot if I have to. :P

And I thought breeding was, as far the IV's are concerned, just the same as Gen 4.
I bred with one flawless Ditto and some random parent in HG/SS a million
times before, and RNG reporter was always able to find spreads like
31/31/B/31/B/B for me, with Ditto being parent B of course. Is that
not possible in Gen 5 anymore, for whatever reason? :(

It's still possible but the decision process if more complex. Since this generation has the egg IV's and PID linked (they're decided using the same RNG), there is a lot of difficulty in searching for a seed that has a particular nature, ability, DW inheritance, etc.

Look bud, what we are saying is VERY easy to understand. I could care less if you CAN ride a bike with one foot, you can't argue that it is easier to do so. We are not saying that you can't use one parent and be fine, but it will be more difficult just like it is in 4th gen. In 4th gen, the reporter just had a way to account for it is all, so it made things appear to be easier. In this gen, everything is connected, like Toastplusone said.

Listen to what we are saying, you can complete the whole process with just one flawless parent, it will just be harder is all.

The way I see it, this gen PID isn't connected to IVs. That means that any game can get any shiny spread right?

Also, with a DSi, are you incapable of doing non cgear or cgear?

Mostly correct. PID is still connected to nature, gender and ability. It's still quite possible, if not probable, that you'll have access to most combinations of these anyway.

Also, PID for eggs is tied to IV inheritance.

It's worth noting that if you are using a DSi or DSi XL, you cannot see your system's MAC address in-game for C-Gear seeds. You must go into the DSi system configuration to see it.
