5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

Does running into a wall (or belly of a stationary pokemon) constitute a step? Does turning?

Wait.. why are you walking into walls?

Every step is important; the way the step counter works, any more than that could advance it again if you didn't start at 0.

Every step has a 1/128 chance of being the one that advances the frame. So you can take calculated risks.

Does running increase the RNG in the same way? Also, couldn't find an initial seed with this information:

Reshiram - #643 (Timid)
HP: 28
Att: 8
Def: 5
SpA: 6
SpD: 31
Speed: 21

Reshiram - #643 (Timid) : 28 / 8 / 5 / 6 / 31 / 21

Possible Hidden Power Types: Grass
Possible Hidden Power Attack Powers: 60

MAC ADDR: FA060D
INIT SEED: D7FB0BD8
FRAME: 13

Ok, so I am trying to RNG the event Zoroark in Lostlorn Forest. Does taking that step forward to start the event (getting Zoroark to attack) advance the IV RNG by one (since it is in an area with Pokemon)? I am saved in the square right before the one that initiates the event.

No, the frame doesn't advance that way. I know from experience. I RND'd my Zoroark from the Pokecenter where I deposited/withdrew to advance then walked 256 steps to Zoroark. The frame advanced exactly how many I wanted from just those two things...no extra advances from wild Pokemon being in the area.

I hoe this helps.

You can't continue without catching them. Don't ask me what happens if you have no Poké Balls, but they probably considered that too.

That's awful because they used to give us an option. So that means If I kill Zekrom/Reshiram, I messed things up too?

That can't happen (unless you filled your entire PC first). If you KO it, it just reappears right there and you have to fight it again.

Wait so I can fight it, have it respawn and try to RNG it later? I got a little confused there.
If you fill up all 720 slots in your PC with Pokémon, then you can KO it and it will respawn at Dragonspiral Tower. I have no idea why you'd want to do that, though.

Nature and ability use the non-C-Gear method, which is not yet supported. Not sure about shiny, because I haven't bothered to look into that myself.

Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out RNG and basically this is what I understand. I have desmume and a ds but I've heard the emulator is easier because of save states so thats what I use.

1. sync ds/emulator to external clock
2. turn on ds, don't turn on c-gear, get your initial seed
3. find a seed that interests you (has good ivs/nature/ability/shiny)
4. turn the game on at the time listed in RNG reporter
5. advance to that frame
6. go catch wild pokemon or obtain egg or battle legend

I did this and I didn't get the right pokemon. I don't understand the concept of "delay and seconds" and I think my mistake in execution is because of that.

If you could help me out I'd really appreciate it :)

Hey for the event Zoroark can I RNG it as normal? I'm not sure if the "suspicious/mysterious/w.e" woman running at me will advance any of the RNG frames.

I don't have the luxury of RNG'ing right away (no AR). I'll figure something out and thank you

Outta of curiosity, the roamer in Black/White...how are the IVs and nature set? Is it similar to 3rd/4th generation or are they set when you first encounter it?

No. It is determined when you encounter the roamer for the first time on route 7, this encounter is not a battle.

The PIDRNG is advanced at an extremely fast rate by the falling rain, and synchronizers don't work. You have virtually no control over the nature you get when you first encounter the roamer.

If you kill off the roamer and then beat the Elite Four to regenerate him, you have control over the PIDRNG (which you can't ask about now, because that requires non C-Gear seeds), but the battle advances the IVRNG at 120 frames\second. So you have easy flawless genies or easy shiny genies, but not both.

You can do it without AR (I always felt that using AR defeats the purpose of RNGing in the first place, but I suppose that's a matter of personal philosophy). If you're going to wait, though, your only options are to either fill up all your boxes or just not finish the game yet.

They're set when you talk to the old lady.

Asked a while back, but I don't think it got answered.

I know saving advances the PID, but does it have to be done after the c-gear has been turned on to advance the PID of a c-gear SEED? If I remember correctly, the PID is always generated by non-c-gear methods, so can I save while I'm waiting to hit my delay to advance the PID?

Wrong wrong wrong!
They are set during the process of the outside event with the roamer, not inside. When it flies away, the NPIDIV is set.

The moment you turn on the C-Gear you'll lose any predictability of the PIDRNG.

The C-Gear while on advances the PIDRNG at an unsteady rate, which you can not predict (It's hardware related).

C-Gear seeds give you the IVs you want at the drawback of having a 52.5% chance of getting your nature with the sync.

In the RNGreporter how do i check my PIDframes for a C-Gear seed?,do i need to use the same codes as the ones from PIDRNG?

See above question.

You need to know how to hit seeds that involve delay and time. Learn how to RNG abuse (with seed hitting) in DPPtHGSS.

for the check the IV MTRNG code, what does "lookup table pos. 1" mean, and the IV frame check code just freezes my game.

Help regarding AR codes does not belong here.

Is the new RNG Reporter still scheduled for tomorrow?

Plans can change, but don't expect it right as the clock strikes midnight.

I am aware of this. Last time I hit my SEED, my sync failed. So I was wondering if saving would affect my chances at all. I guess not, though.

Thank you.
