5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

Okay, I'll try to ask this in another way.

In regards to Shiny starters: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3302162&postcount=636

I'm quoting this to make it easier to read. Please just help me understand the parts I've bolded. Maybe I'm just too new with RNG Reporter, but with a little help I'm sure I can get this rather easily.

Thanks in advance!!!!!

(Please let me know if you need anything else... Such as parameters or what-not)

1) Get a Non-CGear seed with the IV spread you want.
I have an IV on frame 1 with max IV's (For Wild and Stationary). 14B11BA60A595064
2) Get a PID from that Non-CGear seed that you can hit
Should I be using the PIDRNG Method and searching the seed above?
Be sure that the frame is high enough so that the 40+ advancements from the initial seed is already factored in
3) Split the PID into SID and ID. Convert to decimal.
4) Open up [Time Finder], be sure your same parameters are loaded.
5) Select Method 5 (Natures) Theoretical, select 5th Gen Roamers.
6) Enter the PID (converted into IDs) into the ID/SID field. Order doesn't matter.
7) Max frame is 100
8) Generate your "Shiny Roamers"
9) [Delete your old save so that you can start a new game]
I get steps 3 through 9, though I am confused that I'm searching for Roamers, rather than Wild/Stationary. Is this because starters are considered roamers, or does it not really matter?
10) Take a "Shiny Roamer" non-cgear seed and hit it. Start the new game.
Okay, hit seed. Check. (Unless I'm missing something)
11) Take the IDs you got, convert them back into a seed (SID_ID) to see what frame you hit.
I am so confused by this step (How do I find the IDs?). Likely because I'm new. Is there a "noob-friendly" explanation I might better understand?
12) Determine how many times you have to say "No" to the Professor so that what you hit would be what you want to hit (the shiny roamer PID).
This is similar to saving multiple times at a Stationary legendary to hit the Nature you need, right?
13) Hit your non-cgear seed again, say "no" the proper amount of times on the second question from the Professor (name is correct).
14) You should have the IDs that you were wanting to hit (shiny roamer PID)
Save here? And then when I load up the IV seed, I should automatically get the Shiny when choosing my Starter?
15) That seed from step 1 (the IV spread / PID) will now be shiny on whatever frame you took it from.

No, you need to take 128 steps with 1 pokemon in your party to advance the frame by 1.

EDIT: Also I would like to thank everyone for all the information in this thread. It has allowed me to successfully rng a Shiny Cobalion with pretty good stats/nature :D

So does the "step" you take to exit the house count as one of the 128 steps? I just want to make sure I am doing it right. I haven't went after a Roamer yet.

I refined that method when doing my shiny starters to make it less search intensive.

All you have to do is hit the seed again as an ID seed.

Example from when I did my RNG:

Code:
Parameters

00-1C-BE-81-EF-3B, 14:42:05, 28/2/0/19/13/17, ENG White, DSlite, 3/16/11
[[001CBE81EF3B vcount 60, timer0 C7E, gx 6, vframe 6, ENG White, DSlite]]

I want 31/xx/31/30/31/30 for HP Fire

Code:
Seed found:
IVSeed: 4AA86AF0
Full seed: 4AA86AF0A9E8808D
1/12/2011
19:27:30
KeyPress Combo: Down-Left, B
31/6/31/30/31/30
Frame 1 IVs

Code:
Initial Things I hit with 4AA86AF0A9E8808D as my seed:
Frame 36 Naturally Hit IDs 73-36 = 37 no's
Frame 56 Naturally Hit Starter PID 73-56 = 17 saves

Researcher showing me the ID list.
Starter.png

Code:
Things I want to hit and analysis:

Looked for the lowest timid frame, (74).
Nature is generated after PID so I want frame 73.

Target Timid PID Starter Frame 73

Unxor'd Upper32 of frame 73 557BCDDA
High Bit and Low Bit (0/0),
TID: 52697 SID: 21883
Low Bit Low Bit (1/1) 0^0^1^1=0,
No 0x8 decision on wild PID

0x10000 and 0x8 decision PID 557ACDDA
Egg PID 557BCDD9
Roamer PID 557BCDDA

All are shiny with the IDs listed for that PID...

However, I can't hit that roamer PID because the frame is too low.

The way this works is that the PID^IDs is almost always shiny, because they come from the same RNG seed and they are almost exactly the same, passing the shiny calculation.

how would i go about RNGing a wild pokemon with a spread on a frame of 4? i know about the advancements and all that just looking for tips on it in general.

I'm thinking 3 sets of 128 steps with 1 Pokemon in your party. Not sure if that qualifies as a tip or just advancement knowledge (which you may be aware of). My apologies if this does not help.

did you look through reporter? pandora's box works well.

its C-Gear but thanks for the help. getting the right nature outta be fun without a sync lol

Not really sure what I'd be looking for. I guess I just don't get exactly where I should be looking for certain things.

When I get a PID from my IV seed, do I just pick anything? When I use the Method 5 PIDRNG, I find a Timid nature at frame 70, but from there I can't quite figure out exactly how to get a shiny. I can't seem to wrap my head around how I can get a shiny from there.

But, I'll see how I can go from here.

I used Method 5 PIDRNG, and found PID: FDFC65E7 at frame 70. I went into Time Finder (Which doesn't have a Nature selection anymore? (Assuming I use the PIDRNG method now?) I got the 2 ID's (65020 26087)... This is where I get lost. Do I just pick any Shiny, or what's the best way to go about choosing a seed here?

After that, I get even more confused. I guess I don't understand how I pull the SID and ID once I hit the Shiny seed. I understand that once I have that, I can easily determine which frame I hit... And from there it seems like I'd have no problem.

Does that make sense?

Ok, I heard somewhere that you can use wild pokemon spreads for egg pokemon, as long as you take into account the start frame as 8 instead of 1.

I am using a 31/7/31/31/31/31 spread with a frame of 12, so my egg should have either the IVs of the parents through Inheritance, of have these IVs...

I bred a 30/29/31/x/31/? and a 31/31/31/31/31/31, and ended up getting a 24-25/31/31/31/31 Baby. Any explanation to calm my curious mind?

Okay, I lied. There is another public beta release before the official release. Here's RNG Reporter 9 beta 5.

Added:
- support for soft-reset Standard Seeds, BUT you need to redo your parameter search, as they will be completely different
- added a minimum frame option in Time Finder searches

Fixed:
- Gift Pokémon frame output
- Egg PIDs under Breeding (BW) and Breeding (BW, International), also shows F\M instead of A\B for IV inheritance
- Reverted to .NET 2.0 instead of forcing people to download .NET 4.0

Can someone explain the intricacies of the Timer0 value to me?

I calibrated 5 times and get C7C 4 times, and C7B once. I managed to catch a flawless Terrakion using a seed and spread that I found on C7C, but now every time I reset it feels like I'm getting the seed for the C7B value (same time and buttons).

Does anyone know why it flips back and forth and possibly what determines which one you hit?

After a period of trial and error I think I understand now how to RNGing eggs, and now I can easily see in wich frame I land (PIDRNG).I already hatched a shiny flawless snivy with HP dragon and now I hatched a shiny oshawott with great succes so now I think I can understand very well how the process of eggs is done. Thanks OmegaDonut for the new RNG Reporter 9 beta 5.

To me, I feel like it's the time at which you start the game. With my testing, I find that I land on C7F more than C80, but they both happen. C80 for me, always seems to happen if I start the game as fast as I possibly can on the second I aim for, while I feel like C7F is more successful when I wait just a fraction of a second before pressing the button. At this point, I just make a slight pause when the my second hits, and I almost always hit C7F Timers

Quick Question

I want to RNG an EGG what tab or option do I use in the RNG to find my seed?

I see BW(Breeding) option in the main window of the RNG reporter but I'm sure that not where I look for my seed at.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Since PID changes based on a ID/SID, Pandora's Box was changed so you use an initial seed and a frame number. Just go to the 5th gen tab, check the seed box and enter that seed you were talking about and 70 for the frame. Anything under starter that is true means that that combination will work for both starters and wild pokes.

When do I hold down my L button or whatever for non-cgear abuse?

Start at the menu screen and don't stop until the copyright screen. It's best if you can hold down the button and use the touch screen to start the game.

@Megaman
I was using an emulator to check what the starting frame would be. Another way would be to keep catching something frame by frame and match up the natures.

I am a terrible Leecher, I know.

I just wanted to ask how to land on a frame that's not more than 10 frames behind a shiny frame. I choose my shiny seed, start the game at the specific time, and then proceed to sweet scent -> catch pokemon, restart at same time and repeat except save numerous times before sweet scenting so I can look for a pattern of 3 natures. As of now I don't care about IVs as I want to start slowly.

I have only gotten a pattern that was a reasonable amount of frames away from my shiny frame once. Other than that they are usually over 600 frames away. Is there a way I can prevent this or is this normal? I assume the way to bypass this is to RNG your TID/SID as that seems to be the way everyone is getting shinies.

I'm gonna take a stab at this, I believe you can go into the time finder and set the method to Method 5 PIDRNG. Then make the min frame 60 and the max frame 70, you'll get a bunch of seeds with shinies a few frames away from your starting frame (which is 40-60). So just hit one of those seeds and advance the frame, via saving or chatot, and you should get a shiny.
