League of Legends: Let's Talk About uhhh??

- buy ashe, nunu, warwick, janna, shen, ryze, amumu, teemo, taric, alistar, annie, tristana (get her for free off facebook) and cho'gath and get good at all 13 of them - they teach you the basic skills

Basic skills? Do elaborate.

And Jebus, uninstall Pando ASAP. It does nothing but suck up bandwidth, I reinstalled LoL yesterday, removed Pando, and nothing of value was lost.

between those 13 champions you pick up skills and learn things that can be applied to just about every other champion in the game

ashe - the importance of farming gold in the laning phase, as well as map awareness and positioning because she is powerful, but has no innate escape mechanism
nunu - the impact that counter jungling can have on the enemy team as well as the risk vs reward of a skill such as absolute zero
janna - the positives and negatives of having essentially a babysitter for your carry as well as learning how powerful relocation spells such as tempest can be
shen - team awareness, basic tanking skills such as keeping people off your carry
ryze - the basics of casting (as well as teaching you to hit your keys fast xD)
amumu - initiation and how to do it right, jungle tanking, and the importance of landing skillshots
teemo - the importance of map control and split pushing
taric - the sheer power of a targetable stun as well as the benefits of auras
alistar - the basics of roaming, ganking as well as meatshielding which some tanks are often forced to do
annie - teaches you last hitting and how to play disable casters (swain, leblanc etc)
tristana - like ashe, but with escape mechanisms
cho'gath - the psychological effect that a gigantic alien taking up half the screen that noms your carry's health in half has on your enemies xD xD

it also helps that, in general, those 13 characters are probably the best 13 in the game.

Add Warwick in there too, for learning how to DPS / Gank / Roam jungle.

DPS Evelynn Miniguide

Evelynn is now my roamer of choice, I've played her a lot in Normal, and have started playing her more in Ranked. Despite her reputation as a pubstomper, she is played successfully at all Elos (look up 3xecutioner for a Top Elo Evelynn player).

She's really a lot of fun to play because it forces you to think very tactically. Check out my miniguide if you're at all interested.

So I watched some videos and played a few games (against bots, because I'm still a pussy) but i still have some questions:

1. How do skins work? They say they are available but when i click on them my char in game never changed
2. do runes automatically work in game? as in, once you set them in lobby they are passive and you get a boost in your champion in a game
3. The warlick char looked cool but what does jungle mean and involve
4. does the mid lane get more kills?
5. how the hell do we get ip faster

1. You have to purchase skins in the store to use them.
2. You have two rune pages, and can set which page you want during character select (you can buy more pages as well). However, I would advise waiting until Level 20 to buy runes.
3. Jungling means killing only neutral minions. This gives one more player on your team more experience (see #4), gives you more money, and makes it harder for the opponent to predict where you are (meaning it is easier to gank them). Go to Mobafire.com and check out DEWO's Warwick guide, it's what taught me how to jungle. (do note that at early levels you aren't going to be killing the big golem first)
4. Mid lane gets more experience. This is because the amount of experience gained is divided by the number of players in the lane. Mid lane can also be very good for farming. "Winning" mid lane means farming more than your opponent without being pushed out of lane. Good ways to get ahead of your opponent are to kill them or to zone them out of lane so that they can't last hit. In mid lane you almost always want a carry, someone who will benefit the most from more gold and experience.
5. Well you get it faster against people for one thing. Other than that, winning and playing long games is slightly more profitable than otherwise. You can buy IP boosts with real money, but it's really not earned slow enough to warrant it unless you are trying to complete a rune page.

If you've only played bot games, you get around 7 IP per game if I recall correctly. Real games usually offer around 50 IP plus the 150 IP first win of the day bonus.

The funny thing about LoL is that you can own just 3 champs, Ashe, Ryze, and Nunu, and have a runepage for each, and still be a top level player, since those 3 champs are among the best in the game right now.

Got my first 10 wins in a row, feels good man...

Edit: Eh, ignore the vs. bots match, I needed 2 exp to level. If it helps, they were Intermediate :O

I'm what, level 6 now so it's safe to say that I'm starting to settle into the game and I gotten to familiarise with some chars and tactics.
right now I like play Mog, the acid spitter 'hybrid' dps char thingy. He works so well when chasing down players, my early games I've netted 23/7(still lost that round though, damn teammates) and 10/3 with him

the only problem I have right now is choosing items and effectively farming gold. I see people getting the purple rod thing (bonuses to health, mana and something else) but i always run into the habit of buying the best thing i can afford then working my way to the next best thing etc etc, i.e I never save because it's so tempting to buy something immediately.
I also want to ask why nobody ever attacks the dragon/red snake seamonster? They seem like you'll reap massive rewards after killing them

Usually you can just look at an online build to find the best items for any particular build. Their are only a handful of top tier items, the Rod of Ages (Purple rod thing) is one of them built for casters/AP Tanks. Eventually you'll just find an item set that helps you the most, but it really depends on the champ you're using. Tanks like armor than health usually (magic resistance if they have a couple mages), physical chars like attack speed and damage or attack damage and crit chance, and mages build AP and mana.

Nobody attacks the dragon/baron (seamonster) at lower levels because they don't know how good it is. You can solo the dragon with most characters at around level 10, and he gives a good amount of gold to your entire team. It is worth it to take it out, but the Baron is *much* harder as you almost always need 3-5 members to take it out.

Late games almost always revolve around Baron Nasher. If around Level 16-18, all enemies go missing, they are trying to take Baron. If your team is alive, they are stupid and you can kill them with Baron's help. But they might also be laying an ambush (I won a 20-40 like that once. I told my team to all make like we were getting Baron, so the enemy ran right past us while we were in the bushes and we aced them, then got Baron). Needless to say, the best time to Baron is during an ace.

Dragon is said to be as contested in Ranked games, but I don't see that in normal play. Usually I'm on the ball with it, but sometimes the enemy beats me to it.

Rumble is actually really cool. he has a great combination of tankiness, speed, and power and is just an overall badass. heat is a v. cool system and let's you spam abilities easily, assuming you know how. My current item spread is Merc Threads/Force of Nature/Sunfire Cape/Rylai's Crystal Scepter and then either Rabadon's Deathcap or Mejai's Soulstealer depending on how i'm doing. I haven't played any matches where i got to the last item, but it will be either Guardian Angel or whichever I didn't get between Rabadon's and Mejai's depending on how i'm doing. I'm messing around with the skill order, but for now it's QWQEQR..., then alternating between W and E after finishing Q. I'm still fucking around with most everything tho.

I'm really curious Thorns as to why you think he's bad.

No doubt he's good, probably even too good. Just look at his Q. Without AP that's 420 damage for no cost, every five seconds. That's before the 30% bonus as well.

he has no hard cc, he doesn't snowball as hard as other tanky ap like sion or vlad, you can't harass with flamespitter without pushing your lane, reminds me of mordekaiser

i won't deny his impressive lane presence, i just feel he contributes little to a team. if he could jungle i'd have a go at him but for now he's just a caster that revolves around obtaining lich bane procs

in fact he reminds me of maokai a bit in the way that you build him, except he has little roam capabilities in exchange for a bit more damage

He really doesn't need to snowball as hard as Sion or Vlad, he's really going for the classic offtank where you can have a mixture of damage and defense items. He's not really item dependent, and Mord really is a good comparison. It's just that many people already think Mord is OP (he isn't) and Rumble has no hp costs, less cooldown, and more damage. Mord's benefits over Rumble are being tankier (the passive is better than the shield) and having a better Ult.

As far as items, I don't know why you would Lich Bane. Rylai's is the first damage item you should build, as it makes it almost impossible for enemies to get away from Rumble.

having a better Ult.

I would have to say the ult's are equal. Different utilities, so they're hard to compare, but both are definitely very good.

As for the actual comparison between the two, I would say he's like a 2/0 Morde now. He's definitely a threat, and you can't ignore him, but manageable and balanced.

Bought Trundle finally, and I have got to say he's plain fun. Did a test practice game with him having never played him before, and found that I was able to keep a pace higher than a kill a minute for 50 some odd minutes netting a score of 64/0/3. Normally I don't get scores that high on the champs I use, especially on the first try, so he looks promising. Looking forward to playing him in a real game.

I've also decided I need to learn how to Jungle well, and more specifically, Counter-Jungle like a boss. Perhaps I need to watch more streams of Junglers, but I don't know any as I normally watch the streams of players who pick carries and solo lane all the time. Perhaps saintvicious will enlighten me given he plays the most eclectic group of champs I've seen at that ELO... including Jungle Trundle.

Singed's core is Rod of Ages and Boots of Swiftness. Singed loves RoA so much you could easily build more than one to great effect, but building at least a Rylai's is very good for him. Any other item is situational, Zhonya's and Abyssal are the next best AP items because they also make him tankier. Sunfire is also good for damage and tankiness. Banshees and Force of Nature are situational. The new tenacity AP item could be good on him.

Overall, Singed excels in solo lane 3v3.

lol boots of swiftness is bad in the new meta unless your team is like 15 kills and 2 dragons ahead and in which case why haven't they forfeited yet but with the way tenacity has been changed you want merc treads 100% of the time because with your ult on you pretty much laugh at it and if you really wanted movespeed you could get the mastery, movespeed quints or a force of nature (which is a good singed item anyway)

banshee's veil is core on singed, double roa sounds fun but in reality the mres is a lot more important than the extra health

basically think of singed like 'what would happened if i played ryze like a full tank' and of course you will build your banshee's veil, rod of ages, glacial shroud, and others

ap is nice but really it's not worth it most of the time because your presence comes from dipping and flipping people in fights and zoning out the enemy with your poison farts. if your team is doing well obviously you could run at the enemy squishies and make them think 'oh shit this guy wants my ass what the shit do i do' but i find singed is basically an 'anti-anti-carry' if you know what i mean

+1, singed is probably in the top tier of 3v3 champions with his friends nunu, renekton, tryndamere, annie and mundo
