That really depends man. If you're talking about leads, you usually need some kind of set up mon paired with a Trick Room mon to make sure you get the TR.

Something like:
Jellicent + Amoongus
or
Shandera + Scrafty
or
Musharna/Beheyeem + Gigalith

ok thanks. im thinking that beheeyem/reuniclus is for special sweeping under trick room/setting up trick room when it runs out. Beheeyem has ally switch, which could be helpfu, especially conkeldurr, while reuniclus has shadow ball and is faster under trick room. Chandelure/hydreigon is for special sweeping in and out of trick room. Hydreigon has better coverage, works well with jellicent, and functions better outside of trick room, but chandelure has better special attack and can set trick room up again. I already have an amoonguss and jellicent lead.

How early should I get to the DC tournament? Junior/Senior starts wicked early in the morning, but Master's registration doesn't start until 1. I wanted to check out the early tournament before the registration, but obviously if the lines are going to be insane I won't.

I only live like twenty minutes away from Chantilly, so time or distance isn't really an issue for me.

Also, more noobish questions- do they usually have anything food/merch-related to buy? Or am I on my own for lunch?

Thanks in advance! :)

Sorry, but... *bump*

I have a similar question for anyone who attended worlds last year. How was the turnout for the LCQ? If you actually entered it, was the competition tough or was it fairly easy to make top 8?

Didn't go to Worlds but LCQ was 3 rounds for Seniors (now Masters). Do note that it was in Hawaii, meaning a LOT of people didn't go since it's so expensive, if you went this year I'd expect it to be at 4-5 rounds.

Yea san Diego is definitely more accessible to a lot of people, I'm just wondering if its gonna be a lot of randoms or I'm gonna have to worry about pros in the southwest who just couldn't make a regional.

Are Speed EVs a good idea for Conkeldurr if I'm using Tailwind? mattj suggested 252 Atk / 252 Spe to me, but also said that he's never used the moveset I'm used (I'm using Mach Punch / Drain Punch / Rock Slide / Detect, Adamant, Guts, Flame Orb), so I'd like a few more opinions if possible.

I don't know if the full 252 are necessary (figure out what the fastest thing you want to outspeed is, and run enough to beat that), but I'd definitely run some.

I think it'd be nice to outspeed the genies (and hit them with Rock Slide), but that would require a hefty 196 EVs. Also, since Tailwind is so common, it's not unlikely that my opponent would have Tailwind up too, which would make those EVs a complete waste. I'd like to not take away from his bulk unless it's really worth it.

I agree, his bulk is important. However, I wouldn't go with any speed EVs since only thing that would usually OHKO it is Tornadus and as you said, with all those speed EVs you will be taking away a hefty amount of bulk. So I would just go with the standard 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 spd to outspeed other Conkeldurs with the same set.

The most speed Conkeldurr should run is enough to hit 90, so it outspeeds the majority of other pokemon (besides Whimsicott and Zebstrika) in tailwind
