5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

I'm RNGing my ID/SID pair in Black.

I've followed the steps in the .pdf guide linked in Kaphotic's first post in this thread, but have gotten to a point where I don't understand what he's asking of me.

I know my Parameters, etc. I've found a seed, placed it in RNG Reporter to find an acceptable PIDRNG frame. I've then placed it in Pandora's Box and have filled in all the necessary information such as the seed itself and the PIDRNG frame number I decided to use from RNG Reporter. I've selected an ID/SID that says "True" (because I would like a shiny starter). I've done all of that. I don't understand what to do next, though. I hit the Time and Date correctly (yes, I did hit 'A' one second before) and I held down the necessary keypress. Am I supposed to start my new game right then, after I hit my seed? I can't tell if that's what Kurt is saying or not in the guide. Either way I started a new game and have found my new TID. Where does that go, and how exactly do I then calculate the differnce between frames (which frames, again?) to determine the amount of times I must say "no" to Juniper? I'm fairly sure I'm mixing something with something else, and this is all much easier than I'm making it out to be, but I don't know.

If screenshots are needed to help explain this anymore just ask and I can provide them. Thanks in advance for any help.

Here's what you do:

You have 2 seeds to hit, your ID/SID seed and your IV seed. We'll get to the latter later.

If you correctly hit your seed, input the trainer no. you get, along with the hour and minute (according to your ID/SID seed that you selected) into the middle boxes and click "Find Seed hit". If you hit your ID/SID seed correctly it will tell you what frame you're on based on the ID you got.

Note the frame number it says, then look at the frame your destined ID/SID is supposed to be. The difference is how many times you say "No" to Juniper.

You have to re-hit your ID/SID seed and say "No" however many times when she asks "Are you sure your name is?" or whatever the question is. When you do that you should get your ID/SID you abused.

To get your shiny starter you hit your IVRNG seed, same idea as calibrating for wild pokes and stuff.

Ohhh I see what you're doing wrong. You're not supposed to hit the seed for your starter, you have to hit the seed for your ID/SID. Ok, here's what do you:

- Paste the seed and frame you want in Pandora's Box (Which you already did).

- Press "Find ID Seeds". It should generate IDs/SIDs with a seed for each. Pick one of the ID/SID combos that says "True" for Starters. Pandora's box should give you a time and keypresses and date for you to hit. You have to hit the seed that Pandora's Box gives you, not the seed for your starter ;)

Does that make sense? You hit your seed for the starter AFTER you get your ID/SID.

Edit: And yes, that's what you do for Snivy.

I would imagine you're talking about this seed:

I had previously done the same exact thing, only saying "no" 8 times instead of 33. I still didn't get anything, after trying 3 to 5 times. I'm going to try one more time, just in case.

But, if I can confirm my ID/SID, then I advance my PIDRNG frame by 10 by saving 10 times to get my Timid Snivy, correct? I understand that these two RNGs are seperate. Thanks again for your patience.

When did you say no? It has to be when she asks "_____ is your name?" or something like that. If you say no about the gender it won't work. And, maybe you're just not hitting your timer0? Keep trying and you'll get it!

And, yeah, that's what you would do for Snivy. After you get your ID/SID, save right before you pick your starter, and hit the seed for it. However, I'm not sure if RNG Reporter correctly calculates the initial PID for starters. It should be correct, so try 10 saves first.

Actually, he needs to find his SSF for ID/SID abuse. There is one.
Find out what frame it starts off on, and say no amount of times between the SSF and the desired frame.

I've been saying "no" at that time, 8 times. I still have yet to get it. Since I've already deleted my previous save file I doubt I'll be able to redo my Parameter set-up, though, I'm fairly confident I got the more common timer0. I'll just keep at it.

Thanks again.

So there is an SSF? I wish the guide had explained that. >_<

How can I find my other ID/SID pairs on the same seed? Is there a way to generate them like I would the PIDRNG for a Standard Seed?

The middle section of Pandora's Box "Seed Finder." Should be able deduce the frame you're hitting. If I recall correctly.

Ok, wait, lol, what's an "SSF"? I've heard it a lot, but I'm not completely sure what it is. I think it's the initial frame or something. Doesn't Pandora's box give you the initial frame for it?

@Beck: Hmm... ok, after you say "No" 8 times, check what ID/SID you get and type it into the part that says "Seed Finder". Type in all the other info and hit "Find Seed Hit". If you hit your seed, it will show the frame you hit. The, just adjust accordingly.

Yeah, you need to enter the ID you received after saying no once to the professor to find your shifted starting frame for ID Abuse. Then, you take your (target frame - SSF) +1 = total times you need to say no.

Hi, can anyone help me find out what is wrong here? Does the initial starting frame finder not work?

I was using the full seed 0557E84C06CA869A to find a shiny litwick in the tower. The starting frame finder didn't work, so I found the starting frame to be on 56 manually.

When I do 6 chatters like it should be from there, I get a bashful female litwick with ability 0. However, when I do 1,2,3,4,7,8 chatters, they all match up. What am I doing wrong here?

The date and time settings are 11/18/2011 3:05:22 with a+right+down keypresses if that is needed.

Uhm, considering that only Custom Chatter Chatot's advance the frame, I suppose so.

As you aren't giving me any real details on what you're really trying to accomplish, it's my best guess.

i'm attempting to hatch a shiny flawless zubat with brave bird. i have 2 parents in the day care. a jolly flawless golbat and a timid flawless swanna. I'm trying to hit frame 221 and each time i chatter i end up nowhere near the frame. Did you see anything wrong with allowing NPC advancements? Or anything i can do to stop them from advancing?

He already told you what your problem is. Chatot doesn't advance the PIDRNG if you haven't recorded a chatter. Record a chatter, resave and try again. Remember that Chatot loses the recording if it's deposited in a box so you'll need to rerecord a custom chatter if you deposit your Chatot in the PC. You'll need to recalculate your SSF since you're resaving.
You can't stop the NPCs from advancing the PID frame and you don't need to. Finding your SSF should be enough to help you get your target.

Alright thanks and thanks Winter's Zombie

Can anyone explain to me how they RNG'd their Thundurus/Tornadus? I want to RNG for IVs and nature, no shininess. Where in the old woman's house do you save and instead of Chatot chattering to advance the PID can I just save instead to advance it 1 frame per save?

Best to use a Frame 1 IV Seed. Save right next to the door inside the house, facing the door, meaning the next step outside will take you to the whole roamer sequence. Yes, you can use saves to advance the frame by 1 each save or Chatots.

So basically save inside the house facing the door, on RNGReporter use a Roaming Pokemon seed and then go about catching it just like a stationary except play around with the PID until you get the correct nature along with the IVs? I think I'll catch it with my Master Ball so it's easier.

Yea, then it flies away after the sequence so master ball is helpful to chasing it down and capturing in one shot, unless you have a capturing Smeargle or other poke than can trap it and dwindle its HP to get it in another ball or else you will be chasing for a lil while.

Cool, I'll give that a try. It's probably tedious but I have time.

When my PPRNG says to hold keys Up-Lf + Sel+ Y, how would I go about doing "Up-Lf"? Would I hold both up and left? Or the left side of Up?

Up-Lf is means hold Up and Left on the DPad so technically that's 4 keys you're holding. Lol, I'd be amazed if you pull that off on a DS.
That would be sweet for emulator RNGing though.
