5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

Ok I'm trying to get a perfect shiny pokemon with RNG in White.

I'm hitting the seed but the pokemon isnt shiny even though I put "All encounters shiny". I caught an Absol earlier and it had 31 in every stats. If someoen could explain me why my Absol isnt shiny it would be much appreciated.
You have to advance the PID to the right shiny frame denoted by three exclamation marks "!!!". You should post a screenshot of what you have in RNG reporter.

hi guys i'm rng'ing for eggs right now

so i'm stuck on one part right now. i found a seed on the capture tab, copied the full seed into the main rng reporter window. in the main window, i selected
method= BW
everstone nature =adamant

then i hit generate, picked a frame that had this
Ma Ma _ _ _Ma

the empty spaces would be 31 since i chose that in my seed earlier.

i also hit calc initial pidrng frame and got a number 46

when i bred my pokemon it was always naughty nature even though it had the right IVs

i forgot which frame i picked in the main rng window but i did switch between chatots 46 times and i always got naughty nature with Ivs i wanted.
how do i make it so that it's adamant nature if i chose frame 56 on the main rng window?

this is the full seed
04B187F8EAF035A4
frame 8
on time finder
-method - 5 standard seed
-encounter type - gift pokemon
-ivs selected - 31 31 31 x 31 31
2011, month 10
-min/max frame 8

Are you saying you did 46 Chatters? When you click "Calculate initial PIDRNG Frame", that doesn't tell you how many chatters to do, it tells you your starting frame (But the NPCs will probably advance the frame at least 2 times, so your starting frame might be a little higher).

To get your wanted IVs, first you have to find your starting frame. You find this by hitting your seed, and right when you get into the game take the egg. Hatch it. Look at the IVs, nature and gender and ability of the egg, and match them to a frame on RNG Reporter. That's your Starting frame. Then, turn off your DS and hit your seed, but this time pause the screen right away and do the correct number of Chatot flips to get to your target frame, then take the egg. For example, if your starting frame is 49 and you want frame 56, you would do 56 - 49, which is 7. So 7 PID advancements.

I hope this helped and made sense!

Can someone show me what to put in Researcher to calculate PID%6, I can't see the image kaphotics posted.

EDIT: I found a seed with 30/31/30/31/31/31

Seed: 237A4B8BB4A5B75D
Date: 10/2/2015
Time: 10:27:34
IVs: 30/31/30/31/31/31
Nature: Timid
Starting frame (0 chatots): 453
Keypress: select-down-x
Shiny: 483

EDIT2:
50: Frame 576
40: Frame 500
30: Frame 457
31: Frame 426
33: Frame 488

I'm just gonna keep going up by 1 from 30. I did 33 chatots and went over by 4 frames. Should I keep doing 33 frames til I get the right frame?

EDIT: I did 9 chatots and landed 9 frames away from my target.

A little question: if any area has moving NPCs, but I'm not seeing any of them, will the PID frame advance in the same way, with their movements?

Hello everyone :toast:

Okay I'm pretty much new to Gen V RNG manipulating, but I've already used it in Gen IV in Platinum for hatching shiny eggs, which was successful.

Now I'm currently soft resetting for a shiny Tepig in my french White version, but I'd like to use RNG to find it, just to have a better understanding of the RNG manipulations in Gen V.

I've read lot of posts in this thread, and of course almost everything I would need in the RNG guides, but I'm still wondering many things since I'm not very used to using all that stuff. Btw I have RNG Reporter's latest version, I think (9.81 BETA).

So here are some questions :

- Which Method should I pick in RNG Reporter ? Since it's for a shiny starter, I've been told to use Method 1 by someone, method 5 PIDRNG by someone else... So I don't know what to use. I don't want any specific IV spread, just a shiny starter.

- If I must choose Method 5 PIDRNG, should I click on "Calculate Initial PIDRNG frame" ? Why does it change the starting frame to 40 ?

- Of course I have my ID, but SID seems to be required, am I right ? I'll be able to find it tomorrow, a friend will borrow me an AR.

Now concerning the DS Parameters box which must be filled completely :

- If I'm right, I need to enter the exact date and time (to the second) right when press A (or touch) the game on the DS menu to launch it, and fill the corresponding boxes with it. Tell me if I'm wrong but I guess that's ok.

- I must encounter a Pokémon right after that, but I'm playing at the beginning of White version and don't have any pokémon yet, and the AR musn't be used when doing this. Is it okay if I do it with... Another game ? I can totally do that on my Black version, then check the pokémon's IV with Pokécheck. But I'm just wondering if it can work to help fiding DS' parameters since this would not be the same game I found a pokémon on.

- "Seconds, VCount, Timer0, GxStat, VFrame". Just what do I need to fill in those ? And do I have to check "Soft reset" ?

- Once I've filled everything related to DS' Parameters, what should I do ? Do I have to click "Search" ? Or just close the window and click "Generate" on the main one ? DS parameters seems not to be saved once the window is closed :/

Now this is just curiosity about RNG Reporter =p

What's the purpose of Simple Seed Generator ?
About Pandora's Box, if I'm right it's used to help getting a "good" ID/SID combination to have low-frame wanted PIDs. But again, tell me if I'm wrong :)

Thanks !

Method 1 is dead. Methd 5 PIDRNG.

You need a seed to gt a different starting frame. The default is 0000000000000000.
Thats as much as I can help on the subject.

Answers will be in bold

Method 5 is Generation 5. Method 1 is 3rd and 4th gen. You will not be using Method 1 at all in Black or White.

- If I must choose Method 5 PIDRNG, should I click on "Calculate Initial PIDRNG frame" ? Why does it change the starting frame to 40 ?
All PID seeds have a different starting point, so basically that frame 40 is just your starting frame. Why it shifts, it doesn't matter. Just know that each seed has a different starting PID. Only PID seeds have shifted starting frames, IV seeds never shift in that way.

- Of course I have my ID, but SID seems to be required, am I right ? I'll be able to find it tomorrow, a friend will borrow me an AR.
You need a SID to abuse anything to be shiny.

Correct, you are going to need to put into military time (or whatever it's called) 24-hour format(?). Where as 1pm will be 13:00, 2pm would 14:00, etc.

- I must encounter a Pokémon right after that, but I'm playing at the beginning of White version and don't have any pokémon yet, and the AR musn't be used when doing this. No it has to be on the game you're abusing on, as your other cart may have completely different set of parameters, and one won't work with the other. Just start the game, find your parameters. Delete the save, and go back and try again.

- "Seconds, VCount, Timer0, GxStat, VFrame". Just what do I need to fill in those ? And do I have to check "Soft reset" ?
Seconds will be filled in when you put in a time.
Vcount min: 50; Vcount max: 80
Timer0 min: C60; Timer0 max: C8A (yes use the letters)
GxStat just leave that alone.
Vframe min: 0; Vframe max: F

Are you soft resetting? A soft reset is where you press L+R+Start+Select all at the same time while already in the game. Don't do that, it's more time consuming and pretty pointless.

- Once I've filled everything related to DS' Parameters, what should I do ? Do I have to click "Search" ? Or just close the window and click "Generate" on the main one ? DS parameters seems not to be saved on the window is closed :/
Click search, write it down. Then click the "Use results in Time Finder." Search for a seed, and done.

Don't worry about Simple Seed Generator, you are never going to need it for Standard Abuse.
Pandora's Box is just to abuse an ID/SID, and to get shiny starters right off the bat without saving/resetting I believe.
Either way you most likely won't need it as all ID/SID combinations have an insane amount of shiny PIDs with good to perfect IV's. Only thing you might ever need to use it for is roamer abuse, that is if you want to reset your game just for an ID.

Thanks !

The Starting Frame for Fossils (gift Pokémon) is 8. Therefore, is this the minimum Target Frame I can use for them? So I can't use as Target Frame no one frame between 1 and 7, can I?

EDIT 1: Nevermind (the Starting Frame for Fossils is 1, apparently).

EDIT 2: dammit. The starting frame is when you first show the fossil to the lady in Nacrene Museum, or when you get the Pokémon after give the fossil to her?

Yeah, your minimum frame has to be 8. It would be impossible to hit frame 1-7.

You need to hit your seed then give the lady the fossil as fast as you can.

Thanks everyone. (However, in the process, I wasted my fossil, so I'll try it tomorrow.) I'll try to learn advancements in frame (and, therefore, higher IV frames and PID frames) soon.

I'll also try some RNG in my Black version for a shiny wild pokémon in grass. Should I still use method 5 PIDRNG, and what would the starting frame be if I use Sweet Scent ?

Thank you.

Seed: 340760D04B440B63
Date: 10/5/2006
Time: 4:30:21
IVs: 30/3/31/30/30/31
Nature: Timid
Starting frame (0 chatots): 775
Keypress: A-start-down
Shiny: 953
I've done 88 chatters and landed on frame 951, should I keep doing 88 chatters till I get the shiny?

EDIT:
Frame 722: 10 chatters. Timid/Capable of taking hits

Okay I have a problem to find my shiny.

I've input everything needed in DS Parameters, with a sweet scented pokémon IVs I checked using Pokécheck, lauching the game at exactly 10:25:00, so I found my... initial seed ? Which is A32AF27B8D776496.

Then I click on "Use result in Time Finder", so the Time Finder window appears. Since I'm looking for a wild shiny pokémon in grass with sweet scent, I use Method 5 PIDRNG, without any IV, nature or ability restrictions. I choose a min frame of 50 and a max of 80 (starting frames are always around 4x).

I have a lot of results when I click on generate, then I choose one which looks good, and input the corresponding time in my DS Lite so I can start the game at the exact time (for example 11:45:21) by pressing A on the menu.
Then I use the written in red formula in the main post of the thread : "Target – Initial – Starting + 1 = Advances Required"

Now if I'm right : my initial frame is 1 because it's regular generation; my target frame in this example is 55, as written on RNG Reporter for this corresponding PID; and my starting frame is 50, since it changes it automatically when I click on "calculate initial PIDRNG frame" on the main window, according to this seed.

So when I use the formula, it becomes : 55 - 1 - 50+1 = 54 - 51 = 3.

Then I start playing (I already saved in the grass area of the forest of illusions), I check Chattot's status screen 3 times (with a recorded voice) to advance by 3 frames, then ue sweet scent. And no shiny.

What am I doing wrong please ? :)

A lot of people is trolled by Timer0, someone can't advance frames in the rain, i'm the first man on Smogon trolled by a seed.

I'm trying to use PID Abuse, with values i don't remember and i can't check right now. As usual, RNG gives me a bunch of results, each one with its own PID, IVs, seed (8 and 16 values) and time you have to hit to get your seed. I hit always the same, right time, the seed generated is always the same, and is always wrong. I think post all informations is unuseful for you, i just need to know why my seed is always the same, and wrong

Wrong parameters? Different game? Different DS?

Help the newcomer

Hello Smogon-community,

I am new on this forum and totally new to competitive play AND RNG'ing :$. So I wanted to try it out, it looks complicated but I think I can do it. So I have a DSi and thus can't use the non C-gear abuse, I watched the tutorial of bearsfan092 (youtube) so I have:

RNGReporter 9.81 (BETA)
EonTimer
20 Sychronizers :P

What did I do:
I started up RNGReporter and pressed Time Finder. So, I wanted to follow the video so to make it easy I too am going to try to capture Virizion. The IV's that I am aiming for:

HP: 31
Attack: Even
Defence: 30
Sp. Atk: 31
Sp. Def: 31
Speed: 31

Min Frame/Max Frame : 1/23
Min Delay/ Max Delay: 1800/9999
Method: Method 5 (C Gear Seed)
Encounter type: Stationary

So I found three seeds with the frames, 1, 19 and 5. I know that I can't use the seed with frame 1 because with this method you start at frame 3, so I choose the seed with frame 19, this way I could have more poke's on my party (4) then 2 if I choose the seed with frame 5, one Poké most be the synchronizer.

Okay I think I have that right? So I have to hit my target seed and the second timer and then walk 128*4 steps= 16 frames (19-3=16). Now I right-click on my seed and choose: Generate more times. Okay I fill in the last 6 digits of my MAC-Adress (DSi) which are: DA-36-DF I click on generate and an error says: This seed is invalid, please make sure blablabla.

Hmm that's odd. so I erase my MAC-Adress and try it without using it. So now he DOES generate the times. Okay, so maybe I had to fill in my whole MAC-Adress? So I try to do that: 00-25-A0(zero.. yeah)-DA-36-DF. The same error occurs. So what does this mean? Should I just use the generated times with the MAC-Adress field left blanco? I hope my post is clear enough :)
