Pokemon 2012- R/S/E remake?

Pokemon 2012

What's up everybody? Since the new pokemon games typically come out in March, and it's already February, I decided I wanted to talk about this year's new main game. (By main game I mean excluding the spin-off's)

I don't have very much info on it. A popular rumor is that the upcoming games will be Ruby and Sapphire remakes. It has been hinted at, and if you follow the Pokemon timeline, after a new Generation is released, the following games are remakes. However, there has been no Pokemon "Gray" (A rumored version of the "enhanced game" of Pokemon Black and White, basically a Fifth Gen version of Platinum, Emerald, and Crystal. These games are typically released shortly after the new Generation) as the timeline would also indicate.

So, what does everybody think? Just post any and all info you find, be it school rumors, YouTube crap (actually, no YouTube crap) and just whatever you see. What games do you want to be made?

More than likely (and mind you this is all my theorizing from past trends, not based off rumors or anything) if there is either Gray or a RSE remake, it won't come out this year; we have that Nobunaga whatever Pokemon thing coming out in Japan this spring, meaning we won't see it till the end of the year, and while we might see another spinoff hit Japan in the fall (say MD3 or whatever), not too sure if we'll get another main series version update, though if it happens I'd peg it as a fall release for Japan and spring for us next year.

Personally, I think more than likely we'll see the RSE remakes or Gray on 3DS for what it's worth, again likely at the soonest this Fall in Japan. Nintendo's pretty much ditched DS from what I can tell, and they need more killer apps for the 3DS to hasten conversion.

if grey is coming out it's coming out this september or something, p sure that's how the timescale works

i see no good reason why they'd skip out on a licence to print money -- the third version games are guaranteed to sell, so that's what you should expect to see next, before rse remakes

Another thing to keep in mind is the next Pokemon movie (yeah they suck, but they still like doing tie ins and whatever) comes out in July, and if the rumors are true that Kyurem does have an alternate form (especially considering there is coding evidence supporting an alternate form), having Gray out that fall in Sept. or whatever a few months after the movie featuring the alt form is yet another great tie-in/moneymaker. Not to mention we'll see Keldeo released as well. Just as long as they keep standard abuse the same I'll be happy XD

considering 3rd gen is my least favorite generation, i don't know if i would even be excited about remakes.

that being said, if they were actually created i would have no choice but to buy them.

I don't think 3rd gen has quite the level of nostalgia as the first two do for a lot of people. I could still see them making a remake of it though.

Skipping a generation with the RS remakes would be nice to stop people from getting too burnt out on them. Grey on the 3DS really should happen though.

They made HG/SS; ergo, they cemented the idea that "we'll have other remakes". The fandom will demand it, and it'll give Nintendo an excuse to, as Az put it, "print money". Besides, I'll take any excuse to forestall the advent of yet another generation; hell, I'd take a remake of a remake first.

The main reason they remade gen 1 and 2 was that those games, for the most part, could literally no longer be played due to the internal battery running out. With the gen 3 games not having such a problem, I doubt it's their top priority. I do hope they can do a better job though, those games had a lot of potential but there were some blatant problems (a lot of the areas in game had wild pokemon that were about 15 levels below you so grinding for a tough battle was impossible) and I hope they can really make it into the diverse experience it was meant to be.

P.S. Emerald Battle Frontier >>>>>> P/HG/SS Battle Frontier

dude that seems like a pretty naieve comment, no offense, but Nintendo are in it for the money 100%. Not to say the remakes arent wicked but considering their downturn in fortunes and that pokemon is pretty much their most successful franchise its sort of a no brainer

also i would love a hard mode for grey but ninty have never really ventured into such wild pastures

Lets look at the pattern. It's pretty clearly going to happen isn't it? So lets all just sit back, chill out, enjoy the still relatively new Gen 5, and wait for nice announcements.

Theres not one reason they wouldn't bother, even though the games weren't that great imho.

Although I think it is likely to happen, I don't think it's "pretty clear" at all. The gen 1 and 2 games are still the only games to not be forward compatible to the current gen; although long and round-a-bout, you can (and people do all the time) transfer a pokemon from a gen 3 game to a gen 4 game to a gen 5 game. RBY and GSC remakes add trade compatibility from the first two gens to current gens that wouldn't be there without it, while RSE is still trade compatible to gen 5. Also, gens 1 and 2 were both in the height of the worldwide pokeboom; gen 3 is a forgotten gen to a lot of old school players, because they lost interest in pokemon between gens 2 and 3, only to pick it back up in gen 4. The hype for a remake of this game would be a lot less than that of the rby and gsc remakes, at least among old school players.

HOWEVER, doing an RSE remake is still easy money for nintendo, so I think it will happen. I don't think it's as 100% sure to happen as some people think it is though.

EDIT: after looking at Tolan's list below, I must admit that the evidence is compelling...

Hints toward a remake:
-The HM for Dive, and the entire diving mechanic have returned. (An NPC even mentions that Dive originated in Hoenn)
-An NPC in the Isshu Desert mentions the Go-Goggles.
-One of the exhibits in the Shippou Museum is a fossilized Armaldo.
-The Soul Dew appear to be unobtainable in the games so far.
-Steven Stone is mentioned.
-The Isshu Elite Four theme contains a section that is remixed from the Hoenn Elite Four theme.
-The Glass Flutes return.
-Lava Cookies are present in the game, and mentioned to be a specialty of Lavaridge Town.

I doubt they'll make a r/s/e remake and gray in the same year. Not to mention they already annouced that rpg game they made with koei. Seems like too many releases in such a short amount of time.

and then an frlg remake, for those who didn't rage enough at the poor workmanship of the remake the first time

most likely they will come out in around 2015 in april, as it usually works like:
1 year-2 first games(Ex:d/p)
2-3 years later-third game (platinum)
1 year later-remake(hg/ss)

You just know Nintendo's gonna make it(for money of course), and they WILL. They started b/w in 2005 or 2006, they most likely have one 6th generation pokemon done, they are almost definitely working on the remakes as we speak.

But I wonder how it will work, wth us already having 2 more generations for the remake AND the DW and ther new stuff we didn't have in ss/hg? The games are likely going to be astoundingly different then the originals.

GF should do something else aside from making the main games and remakes. If we see RSE remakes I'm going to be pretty disappointed.
