Does this mean that Keldeo will not be able to be used for Nationals?

The Rules/Firestorm's post said:
You can only use Pokemon with Pokedex numbers between 1 and 646. Keldeo is 647. It is banned.

For future reference (this will probably need to be quoted later), as of this time, no Pokemon, items, or moves learned or gained from Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 will be allowed at the upcoming United States and Canadian Nationals.

What's a good replacement for it then on ttar/keldeo/thundurus/latias/metagross/volcarona?

There aren't really any Pokemon too similar to Keldeo. What are you specifically using it for? I can tell you other Pokemon that would fit that role, rather than just serve as a replacement for Keldeo itself.

Good attacker that counters rain and sand relatively well. I was thinking breloom, virizion or something like that.

Virizion is definitely a top choice, it can easily take care of rain and sand. Breloom is also pretty good if you need Sleep support, although I think in this meta Virizion is superior. You've still got some time to test them both out and see which works better for you! :)

Special Virizion is at a loss for a reliable Special Fighting type attack, Focus Blast could miss when it is really important that it doesn't. Though Mons weak to Fighting often have high Defense, Mons weak to Grass often have high Special Defense. A Physical set will just be more reliable

Hey ^^ I was wondering if anyone knows of any good VGC team building guides besides Dr. Fidgets video and Muffinheads VGC tips videos. I can't seem to find any. I have been looking on google for a while, and the only ones I have ever found are types of VGC 2011 teams, with no team building strategies.

Thanks ^^

I'm basically new to the competitive scene. I know the basics of EVs and IVs, but still have a question or two. Do people in the National tournaments normally have perfect IVs in multiple stats or do they settle if they cannot? For example, with something like Groudon or Mewtwo, yes you can reset and keep trying for the best IV/nature, but ultimately it can't be 31 in every stat and it can't breed to get them. So do people just settle for what they can get?

Most of the top competitive players have flawless legendaries (unless their team doesn't use legendaries, obviously) through RNG manipulation - in a nutshell, the RNG isn't actually random, and the numbers are partially determined by when you start the game, so if you start the game at the right time you can control exactly what you get. See this thread for more info. If you aren't able to learn it yourself, many others are willing to provide you with RNG'd Pokémon (check out this thread for who is offering what).

There aren't many aside from that, but if you check out the analyses for the VGC 2012 Pokemon, you can see some partners that synergize well with that Pokemon under additional comments.

Quick Question, I cant find the answer on Nintendo's site, but is it true that if your DS has been modified but your game cartridge has not, that you will still not be allowed to participate? I have a custom shell, that is rather obvious, and dont want to be booted before my first real event!

Agreed that it's probably not worth the risk however when they hack check they take your cartridge and only check that. So I'd assume because your cart is good they'd let you go but even then maybe they just don't want to see modded consoles, companies HATE that.

Theoretically, you could also run a mixed set with Close Combat and Giga Drain, as the primary things you want to hit with Close Combat are 2hko'd even running a modest nature. Giga Drain allows for the use of Life Orb too, which is nice.

5th Gen move tutors

I was looking up some moves for my Eelektross I'm soon going to breed (for a Trick Room Team) when I noticed that the new Black & White 2 have added back the Move Tutors. I've been having a hard time trying to come up with a move set for Eelektross and with the addition of new physical moves (such as Drain Punch, Aqua Tail, and SuperPower) I'm wondering if I such breed a Eelektross for a Mixed set or a special set with Acid Spray? I'm new to these forums and I just want to get peoples opinions on this and what you think of other pokemon and the new move tutor moves?

Well, for VGC 12 rules BW2 move tutors probably won't be allowed, so you won't need to worry about it.

I'm usually not a big fan of mixed stuff, but a mixed set is probably best for Eelektross. Something like Thunderbolt / Acrobatics / Drain Punch / Protect might be good. I haven't used it much, so I don't really know how effective this would be, but it's worth a try.

I am a little paranoid about this but I RNG bred a Gible on my pokemon black but I didn't hatch the Gible, I kept it as an egg so I can trade it to my pokemon white so it has that OT/ID. So I traded it over and hatched it on my pokemon white instead of my pokemon black game which I bred it on and in the description it says Link Trade. Would it still be legal for VGC?

Edit: Thanks

If you did it without hacking, and it isn't a glitch, it's legal (except for BW2 stuff).

Im EV training for the first time, I have my Bouffalant with the macho brace, and am going against Boldores, because of the +1 ATK and +1 DEF, he is super easy to find, but I am having a hard time finding reference to anyone thinking that he is good to train against? I did the basculine one already to boost his speed, but is there something I am severely overlooking?
