League of Legends: Let's Talk About uhhh??

So the way this game works is that every week there's ten champions you can use and it switches every week.

So the only way to actually keep one is to buy them?

Guess that means I need to buy Gangplank and Malphite lol

Got it in one =)

Speaking of which, everyone should post the champs they own imo :3 Would be interesting to see. Please spoiler-tag large screenshots/lists~~

I wish I didn't own Alistar ._. I don't own many champs, bought runes and stuff though... Saving up for Ezreal, MOON LEONA, Miss Fortune, Kennen, and Janna (in order, might hold onto the 6.3k though and get Ezreal second, just in case MOON LEONA's release is soon >.>)

I would also reccommend trying out Annie this week, her Q rewards last hitting and she can lock champs down at a distance.

My first (uninformed) purchase was Master Yi. Hes fine but not really my playstyle (GP is my playstyle lol)

And then Malphite because hes ridiculous. I was in a game where we needed three people to take him down >_>

Haven't really played this game in a couple of months as I somehow got bored of the game for awhile. Is Poppy actually any good, or were the people I played against the last time I played just that bad?

I own every 450 and 1350 champ pretty much just to figure out what they do and be ready for a rise in popularity. Some champs like Shen I only bought to make it hard to ban other things out, but I have fun thinking of new ways to use his ult on a team too. The one purchase I regret is Kennen for 487 RP just because I cannot understand how to do well with his kit as a whole....

also have about 50k IP worth of runes and the 7 page bundle

i'd like to take this opportunity to look at how many have the same face:
ahri/janna
alistar/anivia/cho
cass/sona
irelia/leblanc
riven/shyvana
vayne/zyra riot rly they have the same dang face
and my personal favorite,
kog'maw and sivir
think about it.

next additions will be moon leona, kog'dad?!?!?! and kass daughter?!?!?! roit pls

How do you all practice free week champions? I play blind pick because I feel like I'm more likely to get people to let me have the role I want but the level of play in blind pick is SO MUCH lower. I usually only play one or two games a day so I dont want to do draft and have people bitch at me to support when I just want to try Nocturne.

Custom game to practice your nocturne route / blind pick just instalock jungle noct people wont mind.

also my champs

Thanks for posting, everyone! Some of you have so many champs, I'm so jealous @.@ I have 36960 IP of runes, for reference (I have a spreadsheet for this stuff lol), which is nearly six 6300 champs, so yeah... I'd also like to get movespeed and HP quints, but they're expensive and I'm saving for more champs.

At least when I play ARAMs and don't get free week champs, I'm guaranteed to get something I like (except for Alistar and Nunu... zzz). Though I don't enjoy playing Ashe as much as other AD carries...

My first (uninformed) purchase was Master Yi. Hes fine but not really my playstyle (GP is my playstyle lol)

At least Yi is only a 450 champ. But I don't recommend buying champions that are more expensive than that without trying them first, at least not until you've been playing for awhile and know what you like in a champ. You can get lucky, but you can also really regret the wasted IP. And at first you'll build up a heap of it, but once you have a few champs, I really recommend holding onto as much IP as you can (you'll want >10k) to buy tier 3 runes when you hit level 20. Then you'll have little IP and be like '...shit, I wish I didn't spend that'. D: Free weeks are a good thing =)

Also, continuing on from rem's post: since Zyra just came out, I doubt anyone will care if you go into blind pick and instalock a jungler. If you were instalocking a mid or something then it might be a different story, even though Nocturne is popular. I guess it's a tradeoff between almost definitely getting to play what you like and game quality. After all, in draft, unless you're willing to dodge over and over and wait for the penalties to expire, not everyone just plays what they feel like playing most right at that minute, unlike blind pick... that's the main reason draft games are more serious and less trolly than blind pick ~.~

Rodan how many of those do you even have mastered and shit

Thanks for the advice, Jumpluff! For now Im just gonna get the 2-3 that I feel comfortable with and then save for those runes, which ive heard are extremely helpful. I'll be trying new things during those free weeks all the time anyway haha

Also why are some champions way more expensive? You can get Master Yi for 450 but Darius costs over 6,000? Is he just way better or something?

The price has nothing to do with the champ's effectiveness -- there are bad 6300s and great 450s -- but instead age. Champions are occasionally reduced to lower price tiers; they used to be released at lower prices, but as LoL got bigger (the official line is the amount of work that goes into the newer champs, quality etc.), 6300 has become the standard price for a new champ. Darius was released several patches ago.

Tristana and Alistar are free via ongoing promotions with Facebook and YouTube subscribers, and they're great champs.

i have 20 champions and i can only play three, arguably four of those to a level which i'm happy with :(

also thanks for all the tips on jungling stuff :) I still haven't done a player game as a jungler because i am a pussy but i did try out noct in a bot game, seems really fun though i didn't do much actual ganking because my teammates were pushing the whole time and i didn't get many chances :(

I only own Wukong, Alistar, Garen, Nunu, Annie, Yi, and Ashe. The only ones I don't regreat are Wukong and Alistar, I'm probably gonna save up for Kog'maw next since Ashe is just not very effective as an AD carry. Wu is great at my level since most teams don't jungle and even if they do, I can just run away with W, great for assasinating squishies too. :) Alistar is a very effective support and can gank mid whenever we the opponents are driven back to base, since headbutt+pulverize pretty much=guaranteed kill, it's also an indestructible tank with its ult.

Of those thirty I'm good/play regularly with annie, cho, leona, orianna, singed, and ziggs. I'm at least competent with ali, amumu, ashe, cait, gp, heimer, janna, lulu, nunu, ryze, sejuani, sona, soraka, taric, trist, trundle, and udyr. And I either don't play/don't like/suck with fizz, jayce, kayle, yi, poppy, sivir, and warwick. If you're curious, I suck with fizz, yi, and poppy. I haven't played jayce, and kayle enough. I've never played sivir and I haven't played ww since before I was level 20.

I bought mostly 450/1350 champs and a few of the newest. I'm probably gonna buy Zyra after I finish typing this post.

@remlabmez: I do play blind pick and instalock. I just can't stand how much the players suck. When I play draft normals I'm usually about the skill level of my teammates. When I play blind pick I'm usually better than them. And since I played my first game with smogoners recently there are 5 people that can tell you that is not a good thing.

@atlas: wanna trade accounts? Have you bought anything with RP or have you just been playing since beta? How do you have almost every champ but not GP?

Everyone in this thread with at least 20 champs has Singed, btw.

EDIT: Went ahead and bought Zyra. Have a feeling I'm not gonna regret it. Her skills are all very smooth and she has a great aa animation.

So I know that there isn't a "best champion" or anything because all of them are viable to an extent, but which ones are the ones that are most often seen at the higher levels of play like tournaments?

I bet Malphite is one of them amirite?!?!?!?!

Here are some statistics on a recent major tournament (MLG Anaheim) for a sample =) Keep in mind these stats don't include ban stats -- competitive LoL is played in Tournament Draft mode, and so things like Shen are used less because they're banned more often so can't be picked.

I watched OGN tonight (the group with CLG.NA, CLG.EU, MVP Blue, and LG-IM) and all four games had Malphite. And he beasted.

Tangential but CLG.EU went 3-0 and their games were awesome. Not just because of them, but the competition they faced too. Mid King is a sick as hell Ahri.
