I wonder how many people that has posted in this thread has actually played a Wii U? From the people I've talked to that bought it, they really like the gamepad and the graphics(imo the best looking game on it right is surprisingly Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed). They also said the interface is clunky and slow, but I think it's getting an update soon, so there's that.
I think this had been said before, but judging the way the first released games look on a newer system is never a smart thing to do. For example, go look at Uncharted 1 than Uncharted 3, see the difference? Wait for some of the later titles to come out to see how the graphics turn out.
I also think it's even to early say you think, rethink, don't think, etc. about third party support. I'll wait and see how Colonial Marines and Bayonette 2 does on it, then you can perform your opinions.
tl;dr: The Wii U has been out for less than a week, so it's way too early to say it's a success or a fail.
