The Everything NFL Thread - 2013-2014 Edition

Do you even understand what the argument was about? We are sitting here talking about the draft. Nobody in the thread is talking about overall success of teams and how they manage the cap or use the free agent market. I was simply making a point as to why a couple of fans that like terrible drafting teams think the draft is a crapshoot when it really isn't. If you only have a 50% success rate in the first round of the draft, then you quite simply suck at drafting. Overall team success relies on waaay more than drafting skills and I never even tried to turn this into an argument about "which teams are good and which teams suck." It is impossible for me to be "partially wrong" since you just invented an argument out of thin air.

It's no surprise why many people avoid this thread like the plague.

No idea if I am late or not, but are these the new uniforms for next year? I mean some look good, but others look plain terrible.

Definitely fake. They almost all look the same. Looks like Madden's create a uniform. Also looks like they changed the Redskins logo to something looking like a W for Warriors.

Don't have a link but a legit leak of the new Jacksonville uniforms came out maybe a week ago. The helmets were black matte on the front half and shiny gold on the back.

Where did I mention FA or cap management? I simply said that success in the other rounds of the draft is just as important as hitting on all your first rounders.

Jacksonville's uniforms were officially debuted last week.

Your argument revolves around draft success and scouting being the reason a team is successful, which is a correct argument, but you limited the argument solely to "hitting on first round picks".

I mentioned the Panthers because they've hit on multiple firsts yet have 2 winning seasons since 2003 to show for it - a whopping one more than Buffalo in the same stretch. Carolina drafts well in the first round but is average at best at the rest of the draft.

No. Carolina drafts well in general. The reason they are unsuccessful is because:

Lack of FA acquisitions
Terrible overpayments on: DeAngelu Williams, Jonathan Stewart, Jake Delhomme, Charles Johnson, Chris Gamble, Jordan Gross, Jon Beason, etc.

It's hard to be successful when you are wasting $20mil a year on RBs. Luckily that GM is gone, so things should be turning around prett soon.

When I checked my email today, the #1 thing that was trending on yahoo was: Tim Tebow Dolphins.
My reaction:

Thankfully, it's just a rumor and Miami has said they have no interest.

So the Vikings need a MLB pretty desperately and unless they are going to move erin henderson over, I could see them picking up Urlacher to fill in for a year or two until they can get a younger guy through the draft/trade/FA. Any thoughts?

Quick guys, there isn't a no qb ranking rule hurry up and post urs

1a. Colin Kaepernick
1b. Aaron Godgers
2. Tom Brady
3. Peyton Manning
4. Drew Brees (he had a down year, could be higher)
5. Matt Ryan

Urlacher would be a good fit. Nick Barnett is a ufa too. Im sure there will be more after training camp cuts. The Vikings could have a dominant D-line with Floyd, Williams and Allen so they dont really need a great MLB just a decent one.

i think this post deserves a 2 pt infraction

Clearly YTP was being serious =P

You forgot the mighty Joe Flacco, who is the second highest paid player in the entire NFL!

The lack of Romo on the top 5 is absurd. Brady is just a stat machine. Only completes short passes to his TEs. Belicheat always builds the entire offense so that Brady puts up good stats. Which is why, going from the actual games Brady isn't even a top 5 QB anymore. Romo should be ahead of him. Guy does miracles.

Agree, the way he manages to blow every meaningful game definitely makes hi, a top 5 player

PFF are HUGE Seattle homers. They consistently rated the team and its players higher than pretty much every other source there is.

Pro Football Focus is from England, how can you possibly call them hom- Oh right because YOU'RE the butthurt Washington homer offended by RGIII not being listed higher.

I could be nuts, but perhaps they rate the Seahawks players high because they're rather fucking good.
