I played wiimote for a long time before I tried the GC controller earlier this year. I played exclusive wiimote for almost 4 years, and I can tell you exactly the best strategy for using it:

DON'T

It is so terrible. I used to advocate its use but it is not designed for smash at ALL. The classic controller pro is probably a better idea though the GC controller is probably far better. Shame it can't be used...
 
If I remember correctly Sakurai mentioned not having a really big third-party roster, not the whole roster, which everyone misinterpreted.

I'm sure there's plenty of characters from Nintendo left to make a big roster, and Mega Man/likely Sonic/maybe Snake are good third-party reps anyway.
 
If you use the Wiimote, even with the Nunchuk, you have really bad input lag. Not sure about the Classic Controller.

They only announced one third-party rep so far (and maybe he won't be third party for long).

Oh well, if it's Namco, how about just a big pair of floating underage tits? In fact, floating pair of underage tits will replace Zelda and Peach, because let's face it they are getting on in years. Peach is 29 for god's sake. That's almost 30! And what's this baby stuff Samus has been talking about? Can't have mothers as video game characters. Better make her the antagonist.

Y'know given that Toon Link shows up in the background for a stage, I'm guessing he isn't returning. And frankly who cares at this point, just make Link not bottom tier for once.
 
I'm going to question Toon Link as well. Since we already have him as a background character in the 3DS version, this could mean we're only getting one Link in the game, or Toon Link is being replaced by Classic Link.
 
As much as I'd love for advance wars to get some love in smash, I don't see andy being a competitor. He just doesn't fit the scene. For sure they should have a stage, though, the assist trophy was pretty disappointing in terms of a cameo.

If there is no falco I will riot.

I dont think TL is obvious but ROB feels obvious to me

Hes just really cool looking, unique, is good for a retro/wtf character slot, and was and is really really fun to play.

I dont really know if I can put it into words why I think what I think about those 2 characters, but ROB just feels obvious and TL doesnt. I cant put it any better than that, really.

I cant wait to see what namco bandai has in store for him. Knowing what they can do with fighting games, ROB and Villager might just have to be my 2 mains for smash 4.
 
I dont think youll have to worry. Every character they have taken out of a smash game has been replaced with a really similar one (Roy = Issac. Even Issac seemed the the fire swordsman roy was. Mewtwo = Lucario at least somewhat. It seemed like Lucario and Lucas actually combined to cover most of Mewtwos moveset and be their own unique characters) or axed because it was stupid or should be a costume, ala dr mario and pichu

They always seem to have good reasons to take out/replace characters and for ROB I just cant find one. Who could replace ROB? I cant think of anyone(s).

The only one I can think of is Robotnik in some hybrid of his Sonic: the Fighters egg walker and the one from Adventure 2.

On second thought, we don't really need ROB, I think it's for the best that he be replaced.

edit: guys help, I've been mashing F5 but nothing's happened yet, and Japan Time was 5 minutes ago.
 
While we are talking about sonic, if any sonic villain should get in, I think robot sonic would be the coolest

Ive seen him on some roster lists on smashboards, and I gotta say hes a pretty sexy pick
 
I was thinking what about costume dlc? Or map dlc? Like I said earlier Nintendo has been stepping it up on the dlc so to me so I'm expecting it.
 
I really want more Mother characters in! (maybe kumatora, hell i'd settle for boney)
Also Nintendo could have a lot of fun with alternate costumes but I doubt they would put that in.

Metal Sonic (and also Shadow) is one of those characters that could easily just be a skin for an existing character (sonic in this case), which would be a nice way to include "extra" characters without bloating the actual roster.
 
If Namco goes with PacMan instead of Lloyd Irving, heads need to roll. Hell they don't even have to think much for a moveset, just copy what they have on Super Smash Flash, take out the superficial/cheesy animations, and tweak the unrealistic attacks. They pretty much admitted to doing it with Megaman, the least they could do is put in a character that actually makes sense in a fighting game.

Toon Link, ROB, and Pokemon Trainer are far from locks to return (Pokemon Trainer will likely be remade with different Pokemon and/or mechanics, perhaps as N). Knowing Nintendo, they'd put in Crom over Lucina/Lyn and Matthew over Isaac. -_- Snake could very well be replaced by Raiden (which would be majorly lame). Waluigi, King K Rool, and Ridley will probably get long hard looks. Shulk needs to be in not because of how good a game Xenoblade is (although anyone that hasn't checked it out is seriously missing out), but because of how creative they could get with his moveset. There's more potential variety with him than other swordsmen like Marth/Ike/Link etc.

I thought metal sonic was bigger, badder, faster, and more powerful than the original sonic, hence my suggestion.
 
Not to be a massive fucking nerd or anything, but you're thinking of Mecha Sonic (the one from Sonic 2 and Sonic and Knuckles), at least he's bigger anyway and could have a different move set. Metal Sonic is pretty much just Sonic.

I can easily see Pokemon Trainer returning and I wouldn't doubt ROB at all. ROB is just so unique and silly I think he's a great fit, similar to Villager and WFT really. I don't understand why everyone is talking about changing Pokemon Trainer, Red and the Kanto mons are going to be far more iconic to the series than any suggestible replacement.

Ike being replaced with Crom wouldn't be too shocking but I'd like to see Ike stay and have a 3rd FE character either be not a swordsman (Hector come on) or more of a balance between speed and power.

Since I remember hearing that Sakurai and Kojima were friends I expect the return of Snake. Does anyone really doubt the return of Sonic? Having Mario v Sonic v Megaman just sounds too fantastic to pass up.

I'm probably in the minority that doesn't really care if Waluigi gets a character slot, I was fine with him as an assist trophy. Ridley definitely deserves a slot and K Rool would be interesting too but I feel like his moveset might be a bit on the bland side.

I really like the alternate costume idea since it frees up slots and still fulfills fan service; Roy, Pichu, and Dr.Mario can all be easy alts.
