Unpopular opinions

New unpopular opinion: character customization isn't that great or necessary, and I don't care if it comes back.
Really? One of the best things about Pokémon and many other games if being able to have the character truly be your avatar. And being able to customize said avatar really helps them become you. And it makes battles against other people more interesting since it isn't just the same two people battling.
Also, Pokémon has always been about customization since we decide our own teams, their movesets, etc. Even names are customizable and not just the Pokémon that we use. We get to choose our own names as well as often choosing the names of other characters on occasion. Being able to customize the character's appearance is really just an extension of this.
Is it necessary? No. It is great? Yes.

I dunno. I feel like Character Customization is overrated (seeing as I only pay attention to battling). It also explains my " don't care " attitude on the Pokeball Seals and capturing Pokemon in specific Pokeballs because I won't even notice them half the time. This is also the reason I felt Walking Pokemon in HGSS and Platinum redundant as it eats up a lot of space which can be better used to improve the game engine (which is really slow).

I don't care about Pokeballs either, I mean, my Sylveon is in a dive ball. Which would work if she was shiny, but she isn't. But showing other people who you're battling your choice of clothes, etc, is interesting and I always love customization in any game I play.

There are only three times I've cared about a Pokémon's Poké Ball:
1) My Platinum Darkrai was caught in a Dusk Ball. Both because it made it easier and because it matches.
2) My competitive Gen V Terrakion was in a Poké Ball that I threw as a joke. It happened to be Jolly, so I was happy.
3) I will one day catch a Mewtwo in a standard Poké Ball. Why? Just to say I did it. Actually, I have several times, but I keep resetting since I get bad natures/IVs.

Hate to sound negative but catching Mewtwo in a Pokeball really isn't that special nowadays. It was in Gen I where the Legendaries were able to dodge normal Pokeballs, but since then as long as you throw enough Pokeballs eventually it'll capture.

A related unpopular opinion: I don't get why people would want to catch a Legendary or other challenging Pokemon in a "wacky" way. I can understand wanting a Pokemon in a certain kind of Pokeball, that makes sense as its for show in WiFi battles. But sometimes you see people like using all sort of different Pokeballs on a Legendary or other rare Pokemon just to be "funny". A popular example would be Chuggaaconroy when he goes Legendary hunting in his Pokemon playthroughs. While at least for Let's Players there's a little comedic value, honestly just use the most effective Pokeball in that situation. Why are you wasting your and my time (to be fair Chuggaa does fast foward/montage, but still) when just using the most effective Pokeball would net the same result in the end (sure less comedic value, but honestly its not that funny since you're just spinning the RNG wheel until it lands the way you want it. It's honestly only funny if it does catch in one or two attempts).

I don't care for it becasue it gets in the way when I'm starting up a new game, and the designs of the characters is fine as is. Even in other games like Skyrim I find it to be a chore and don't enjoy it unless I'm getting some kind of gameplay perk from certain features.

I have literally never heard of this before. How is this an unpopular opinion?

I mean elaborate. Explain what you think makes Mega Banette good cause I am curious what your points are (I am neutral on Mega Banette since I don't think about it much).

Well I've used it before and it has a nice ghost typing, prankster taunt to stop defog goes well with it's ghost typing and prankster destiny bond is a last ditch effort to punish players are why I think it's not that bad. Again I'm not gonna pretend it's the best mega but from when i've used it it's certainly did better then my expectations.

My only problem are the speed targets and Magnezone. The rest of them are alright but those two are the ones that I have trouble hitting.
trust me... I definitely prefer Super Training as well, and I don't know many that do. I also have just as many issues with the Speed targets such as Aerodactyl and Noivern. Never had an issue with Magnezone, though? o_o

I keep missing Magnezone when it raises itself up to attack you. That's not even counting how hard it is to dodge the attacks necessitating me to use the shield and forgo charging a shot.

I couldn't take the whole "love story" ending of ORAS seriously because both Brendan and May are 10 year old kids.

I actually thought that was really believable. I distinctly remember when I was a child agreeing with a friend of mine that we would be married one day (and I haven't spoken to her in 14 years!) but we never kissed or anything like that (when you're a ten-year-old boy kissing is the grossest thing in the entire world). The ending of the Delta Episode is like that - they're just kids who think they're in love, but only because they aren't mature enough to understand what love is. At the end of the date, May/Brendan just turns round before entering the house, and smiles - not even a hug! I think the "bless them" expression on their parents' faces as they leave for their date speaks volumes: it signifies that they are just starting out on a long, long journey to adulthood, of which their parents are both proud but simultaneously feeling they have lost something.

Damn, I never thought I'd be writing this kind of stuff about a Pokemon game...

Pretty much "puppy love". Thinking about it Pokemon has always been careful when it came to shipping (at least in the games). When there is any "shipping" its nothing more than just the characters flirting, often times getting embarrassed and running off to where they were going to next. It reminds you that despite being allowed to wonder around an entire country with a team of elemental monster you use to fight criminals and become one of the most respected trainers around, you're still a kid. So much so that it seemed kind of odd to me when in Platinum you were given your own Villa (not your mom, YOU, a kid). I always liked how in the end credits of recent games after you become Champion what does your character do? He heads right back home (visiting places along the way, but your character's destination is home) to see their mom. Because he's still a kid, he technically is still living at home with his mom. Yet Platinum gives you a Villa which is essentially a house, seems kind of strange. The Secret Bases make more sense as they sort of feel like tree houses (which some of them are) and though you can now turn them into a gym you can't sleep there or have a fridge. Its just a place you hang out with other people.

Oh, and the game is about collecting, training, and battling elemental monsters. A date? Well unless you want to take a minute Ferris Wheel ride I ain't got the time, my Charizard ain't going to get 252 EVs in Speed on its own.

Infernape was always cooler than Blaziken

Infernape, especially the way I play, did feel better than Blaziken. Infernape is faster which makes all the difference. Sure it's offense stats are weaker by a few points, but they're still over 100 and used with a powerful move did the job just as well. Also its movepool felt a bit more versatile, probably since Infernape focused on punching/marital arts which there are more moves for while Blaziken focuses on kicking which isn't as varied. Now Blaziken does come with some pretty powerful moves like Hi Jump Kick and Brave Bird, but those came later while Infernape had always been able to learn Close Combat and Flare Blitz (Blaziken didn't learn Flare Blitz in Gen III).

Conkeldurr is, and will always remain, a bleak attempt at making Machamp over again. And it's a poor design, to boot.

That goes for pretty exactly half of the Unova dex too, actually. The latter half of the roster is filled with pretty creative and original designs. The first half is just trash and clones of designs we already saw in the previous generations. You could replace half of Gen. V with existing designs, and I doubt I'd even notice.

I don't like Mega Lucario in X/Y. It makes Wulfric and Wikstrom way too easy, and 240 power Close Combat with Adaptability Mega Lucario is just broken.

Pidove is just a rip-off of the Pidgey/Taillow/Starly lines.
Purrloin = Poochyena
Patrat = Rattata/Sentret/Zigzagoon/Bidoof

Most of the Gen V Pokemon were just rip-offs of previous Pokemon so that way all the different Pokemon archetypes could be fulfilled.

I meanwhile felt that Gen VI had the opposite problem. There are too many Pokemon that fulfill the same niche archetype in the game that it felt like nothing really had an archetype while playing through the game.

I had a level 52 tyrantrum before Shalour on my first run I was addicted to Tyrunt eating macaroons and bopping yarn... The games where easy as they where without megas.
Agreed. I didn't even need to use Mega Blastoise or Lucario that much. I just gave Thunderbolt to my Xerneas, used Lucario and Talonflame for Wikstrom, and I was good. Beat the entire E4 and Diantha on the first try with minimal damage.
