hey sup. I play this tier in the free time I allow myself. it's the only smogon format I actually enjoy. I've chatted around in various mediums about it, but since I signed up for the tour, I figured I'd say something about it here. Here's my current peak on ladder btw:
I think this tier is actually very well balanced. The simplicity of it allows for a lot less matchup bullshit and keeps games to a max of maybe 30-40 turns. The main threats of M-Zam, Mew, Melmetal, and then the secondary offensive threats make team building restricted, but in a strangely balanced way where a lot of them just check one another. It's genuinely reminiscent of rby/gsc in that there are very few viable mons that you can pick from most of the time, but updated with better features like team preview, megas, and natures with no weird stats. Also playing around stealth rocks, such as when to set them up and then incorporating chip into the decision making process of whether or not you can switch in or out, presents an enjoyable challenge in-game, especially with the exclusion of recovery items like lefties and berries.
I also think there's a lot to say about the mons.
I know a lot of people think this thing controls the metagame, and while I don't think it's bad, I don't think it's top 4. Aside from its access to Sparkly Swirl, it doesn't have a lot of defensive utility. In this metagame where you have a lot you need to prepare for on a team, I frequently struggle to find the use for a mon that has no useful resistances, relatively low speed, and lackluster bulk. Maybe people impulse add this to teams when they have mons that have Rest, but I think it's usually just better to not run Rest on things. If it means having to run a mon with no good switch ins to keep the moveslot, I would rather just manage the amount of chip on my mon as best as I can.
This guy, however, is super good. Super bulky, great resistances, and arguably better as a seeder because it can circumvent Leech Seed checks with Sleep. Even without clicking Mega you're a great mon. You solo the two most common resistances to it, Alolan Muk and Melmetal, as long as you can hit two Sleep Powders. I run Timid so you can absorb the Sappy Seed from Eevee and be able to immediately pressure the opp. It does the same stupid Leech Seed spam stuff that Eevee does, but with a more powerful team presence. I use this, but I'm sure you could find room for tect if you cared too much about it.

I use this most commonly, but I've used Body Slam, Earthquake (for mega gengar), Self-Destruct, and Toxic too and all work really well. Its primary objective is as a good secondary Zam check, but you obviously check a ton of stuff like Mew, Zapdos, and Cloyster. Don't even run rest on it. Running Rest is just a way of saying "my mon is dead, so let's try and keep it alive so it can give my opponent free turns."
I'm getting bored of typing so I guess that's it lol.
