My friends, I hereby present you something not new (since it was doable in older gens anyway) but nevertheless quite interesting. Chronosnorlax.
I don't even know if it's actually legal to play this thing (technically it doesn't break any clause) and I honestly don't think it's a good choice since, at best, you'll get a 1 for 1 trade, it's kind of a beggar and fat version of gothitelle.

Anyway, the power of this incredibly cancerous set lies in the pyschological pressure it puts on the opponent. Most people will either break and start cussing at you (which means they are reportable and staff must intervene, which might result in a free win) or just play in an incredibly tilting way. You don't even need to time stall since the tactic in itself takes usually at least 100 turns for each succesfully trapped mon.

I know this was low ladder and it's a bad example and so on and so forth, but just IMAGINE the power of surprise of such a wondrous set during a highly ranked game. As I previously stated, the point is making your enemy tilt itself out of the orbit. I also highly suggest using moody glaile posted before together with whatever you want to call this, since it's also a tilt-inducing mon.
The only real requirement it's time.

Anyone tried out defensive Kommo-o?

Defense is actually its highest stat, so STAB Body Press from max defense Kommo-o actually hits significantly harder than an Aura Sphere from special Kommo-o or Dragon Claw from a physical set.

That is correct - Toxic is currently illegal on Kommo-o.

Defensive Kommo-o is also one of the few Pokémon that can take on the standard SubNP Hydreigon set (Dark Pulse is resisted, and Flash Cannon doesn’t get STAB) with SpD investment. I didn’t realize it can also check Dracovish with PhysDef EVs as well. Is there a spread where it can check both at the same time?

Okay, seriously guys, I get we're in a new gen and we're excited to try new things, but for the love of God please stop theorymonning sets just to theorymon sets. The whole "it might be threatening in lower tiers" is kind of pointless too since the discussion is for OU.

I've been fairly lax on it, especially since I've been patiently waiting for Dynamax suspect to just lock this and make a new thread, but I'm going to be harsher on theorymon sets like the Avalugg set from here on out. At the very least if you're going to theorymon please actually go and test the sets since I've seen the last couple have an illegal move or ability somewhere in there. Word of advice - replays might help your case too. I won't delete unless the set is flat out awful / lacks any purpose / clearly has no testing behind it. It's okay for discussions like "what do you guys think of Room Service?" Or the one previously with Eject Pack.

Also that last set is nothing like Gothitelle (@ Snorlax). It has absolutely 0 offensive presence and a single setup Pokemon or a Pokemon with Taunt really cripples this. Yes I get your team had Toxapex and Ditto too.

Well in this specific case those Pokemon can Dynamax, giving serious sweeping utility to Fly / Dive etc. And if these moves help you negate the most powerful force in the meta then maybe they're worth using even with the downsides.

Anyhow IMO dynamax is broken but Pokemon as a whole is an awful competitive game so we might as well embrace it for what it is. Just tier dynamax per pokemon similar to megas. Is Gyarados broken? Only when Dynamaxed. Hawlucha broken? Nope only when Dynamaxed. Is Butterfree broken? No not even when Dynamaxed.

Dive and Dig are shit. No butts about it. If you have to use them and you are not specifically abusing Dynamax, they are shit and should not be ran. Your argument is boiling down to - its playable on cart so let's make it playable here. Why don't we remove Evasion Clause? Sleep Clause? Free OHKO moves and Baton Pass, since these are all playable on cart right?

Question before the dynamaxing gets banned. Has there been a discussion about lower levels of dynamax? theres 10 levels, would it be more balanced if, let's say we go with level 5 dynamax for only 50 percent boost in hp, or even level 1 for just the 10 percent?

I think this violates the Tiering policy. This is similar to allowing Zacian into Ou aslong as we give him 0 Ivs everywhere.
When banning things, we should look at their best possible sets.

In my opinion the moves and the boosts dynamaxing provides are the problem. The only good the level nerf would do would be making it harder to use dynamaxing to stop other dynamaxed mons. Obviously it'd also make it harder to safely dynamax, but to my knowledge most of the abusers don't have a bulk problem.

I'd swap Darmanitan > ditto and rotom wash > hawlucha but I agree with pretty much everything else.

Edit : tiburon bebe is using a different spread from what I'v seen playing him multiple time on different alts , check there for more replays I guess ?

I'm gonna try a spread of 176 HP / 80 Def / 252 SpA with a Timid nature-this hits 352 speed naturally, so Gengar's outsped, and Burned Ferrothorn's Knock Off doesn't break Sub so you have a little more leeway to use Ferro as setup bait.

Since 252 Special Attack, even with a Timid nature, can 2HKO burned PhysDef Pex with Hex after Stealth Rock, it might be worth just running Timid nature with 0 Speed just to outspeed Timid base 110s like Gengar? SpDef Pex walls Modest too, and Modest wants Rocks to ensure 2HKOing PhysDef Pex.

Anyways, I love theorycrafting these bulkier support-y sets. Awesome stuff.

Can confirm SubDisable Pult is awesome. It'll be so much better post-Dynamax when they can't break the Disable lock. Being able to Sub against Darm and disable Icicle Crash to force it out is hilarious!

20 Spe outspeeds Timid Hydreigon so you can disable Dark Pulse. Not sure about the 12 SpD though.

I have seen a variant of the set that runs Draco over Hex to hit Sub Hydreigon (Infiltrator) once Dark Pulse is disabled.

I feel like it would be different because you would be standardizing the mechanic. Making Zacian 0 Iv would be more complex because you're specifically targeting that mon.

Usage Stats are here! I kept the top 200 for each group since this post got long enough to the point where I couldn't post it. I'll write a follow up post later describing the trends, but for now, feel free to discuss the usage stats!

I was expecting drill to be nr 1 in all of the categories. I guess ditto being nr 1 makes sense in the 1800s, but dragapult being nr1 in both the 1500s and 1600s makes no sense imo, drill being nr 4 in both is weird aswell.

Wow. Dracovish is straight up cancer. It can simultaneously work as nuke and a counter for itself due to it's double water resist. And on top of that, it isn't one shot by Darm yet it always 1HKOs in return. Like I knew it was bad but it's worse than I thought. It is both a powerhouse and can be a check to some of the more serious offensive threats in the meta. This thing gets banned when? I'm gonna abuse the heck out of it until it's gone because I don't see it staying. I'm shocked usage rates for it aren't higher.

Another problem keeps popping up. I'm having trouble justifying any of my balance builds. I kept trying for defensive options to make a balance team. Every time I changed a defensive option to an offensive one, my results got better. It started when I first changed out Toxapex for scarf Gengar and my team improved. Then I changed Runerigus for Dracovish. Ironically, Dracovish was better at checking some of the threats I had trouble with while bringing a ton of offense. I even added Ditto over hazard control just because and, at least in preliminary testing, it actually works better in most cases due to all the high powered cancer running around. I'm certainly not saying do this as it was a very limited low rank sample and I expect it to come back to bite me at some point. But it does speak to how strong offense is right now.

At first glance, some of you may find this conflicting with my earlier comments on stall. Well, I'm not talking about stall. I'm talking balance. In balance, I'm finding you can't bring enough walls to check every offensive threat commonly out there right now. So you might as well just go more offense. This isn't to say that I think stall is dead. You can adjust to this meta defensively. You just need more than 2 or 3 walls/pivots to do it. The problem I'm finding with balance right now is it doesn't have enough of either offense or defense. It's impossible to set up something or pivot when you don't have the right switch in to every monstrous threat running around. So then in those games, you just have less offense and wall breaking capability.

Does anyone else have this problem with balance?

I have an OP Gengar set that I haven't seen anyone use that's doing really fine, hope to present it to you if I can get back up to 1700.

Does it have anything to do with Choice Scarf, Shadow Ball, Sludge Wave, Thunderbolt, and Focus Blast?
