People on here are gonna be mistaking me for a guy till the end of time :psytear:

I gotcha, though I saw the same post by you earlier in the thread -- please try not to spam
bro i really i did not rely to ur message i reply to the that guy to post today about the phantom pokemon

I think GF realized a bit too many people are going to spam Earthquake in those Toxtricity raids and murder all their partners LOL

Ah, I was wondering why they were giving High Horsepower for something related to Toxtricity but that makes a lot of sense, lol!

Has it ever been discussed with the mods about adding gender identifiers next to our usernames?

While I try to use "you", "they" and "them" (and just their username) whenever I don't know someone's gender, I sometimes use a gender pronoun based on the user's avatar without thinking.

For a while, I thought the only way to use TMs on a specific Pokemon and see compatibilities was by going to the held item screen from the party and using a TM from there. Today I found that you can go to the "Check Moves" menu, and press X to use TMs. There's even a button prompt for it, but I never thought to look there.

Also, if you press A to swap moves and then press X, it plays the menu sound effect but doesn't actually do anything.

EDIT: You can pnly do this on party pokemon unfortunately.

So there has been a little more info about HOME:

- The release date is inconsistently referred as "mid-February".
- Eggs cannot be sent to HOME.
- 200 premium boxes.
- Apparently, as long as you have HOME tied to one Nintendo Account in a Nintendo Switch, you can use it on all savegames in that console.
- Let's GO (and likely GO in the future) Pokémon only get the "missing data" generated once they are sent to Sword/Shield.
- In the GTS, you can see where the Pokémon was originated in (Bank, Let's Go or Sword/Shield).
- It is possible to see the 3D models in the mobile version... at least. Doesn't say anything about the Switch version so there might be more of that "but you can do it in the games themselves!" logic.

And a bunch of other features that were already present in Bank.

A lot of stuff that's fairly obvious, but...
- Apparently, as long as you have HOME tied to one Nintendo Account in a Nintendo Switch, you can use it on all savegames in that console.
... THIS one I didn't quite expect and I'm happy to see it. Granted it's not like you can transfer, say, a Rusted Sword into Home and you'd still need direct trading for those items; but it still makes things a lot easier.

What I'm not happy about though is the locking of certain features like Mystery Gift behind the Phone version. And it mystifies me, honestly -- usually when there's a weird decision like this that just inconveniences the player, an answer can often be found in "because it makes more money for the company". But this one's just baffling -- are you expecting to be able to sell phones through locking Mystery Gifts behind them?? Do you think it'll make it more likely that someone will click on Pokémon Go or Masters if they're on their phones to begin with? What's the reasoning behind this?

Actually I honestly think GF's thought process on this is "if we're going to make a mobile phone version it's going to need some exclusive content to justify it". So they decided that while Switch's HOME would be how you transfer Pokemon over, the mobile phone version would be what you need to trade between HOME. They probably think this makes sense since you can already trade Pokemon in the game themselves... either ignorantly or purposely (or both) ignoring that Sword & Shield doesn't have GTS which makes trading easier. And that's not to mention the purpose of a mobile version is that it's for CONVENIENCE so doesn't need to have exclusive features. It just needs to provide the services we'd want on the go which it actually does... but it's the Switch's version which is the problem as it doesn't have the trading between HOME options which there was no reason for.

It's a stupid, out-of-touch way of thinking that provides no more value to the mobile version (if anything it takes away value from the Switch version) and adds additional layers of inconvenience to the players.

It could also have something to do with GF's paranoia with mobile phones, or rather mobile gaming, taking away customers (we'll just ignore Sword & Shield, despite the odds, are the best selling Switch games for 2019 and already one of the best selling games on the console; but no mobile gaming is such a threat...) that if they have anything mobile related they'd want to force people to have it on their phones. "HA! Now that trading between versions of HOME is exclusive to mobile phones they'll HAVE to download the app onto their phones!". You know, completely ignoring that most people would have done so anyway just for the convenience and they didn't need to chop that feature from the Switch version to do that.

If your plan lapses and you have space in the Free Box, you will not be able to move Pokémon from Premium Boxes until you have renewed your Premium Subscription. "

Dialganet2 is right, this is JAIL!

This isn't home. home you're free to go in & leave whenever you like. Now sure some homes are bigger than others so only a certain number can permanently live there, but if you have more than the max amount of people that can be in your home all of them can still leave whenever they like.

On the flip side, jail you're sent to for the purpose of not being allowed to leave. In many cases you can only leave once someone has paid bail for you.

This is Pokemon JAIL.

The point they'll make will be that tecnically you have a free box to store anything you want to keep available, which Bank didn't.

Which is pretty bad as an argument, but it is one nontheless.

That makes things even make less sense! If they really don't like having extra Pokemon being in an unpaid version of HOME:

1. Push as many of the Pokemon into the free box they provide.
2a. If this is enough to clear out the extra paid boxes then all is fine, just tell the player their subscription ran out and all Pokemon have been moved into the free box.
2b. If there's still extra Pokemon in the paid boxes tell the player that until they either pay for HOME again or remove all the extra Pokemon they cannot use the features of HOME.
3. Once the player makes room in the free box shove the next batch of extra Pokemon into the available empty space.
4. Repeat step 2b & 3 until all extra paid boxes have been cleared out.

By providing a free box to place the Pokemon in for an unpaid service they automatically shot down any argument about why you'd have to pay the subscription again to access your Pokemon (also ignoring the option of just making it so you can only retrieve Pokemon).

But no, instead they decided holding your Pokemon hostage until you pay again is somehow the better option.

Also bizarrely Meltan and Melmetal are..."etc"
As in its literally "galar, etc"
So there we go. Mystery solved, they are the gonzo of pokemon categories

If you want to look it in a way that maybe makes a bit more sense: By the standard definition of "gens", Gen 7 only comprised of SM & USUM. GO is its own thing and Let's Go are considered adjacent games instead of being part of Gen 7. Thus Meltan, who debut in GO and trasnferable to Let's Go, is not part of Gen 7 but Gen 8 as it's the the generation of games it can be transferred to and used in.

- Eggs cannot be sent to HOME.

Why? If I recall Wonder Trading Eggs was really popular.

My other gripe with Pokémon Home is that what is the point of transferring Pokémon not in SwSh? There’s no battle simulator ( which is what I was hoping for ) or heck, something like Pokémon Amie would have given your Pokémon some purpose to be used. But nope. They are just stuck there until the expansion passes come out, and even then 200 Pokémon are going to be missing. So those Pokémon are basically in jail doing nothing until the next Pokémon games comes out, and ‘hopefully’ contains that Pokémon.

It’s sad. What makes Pokémon really special is the ability to transfer Pokémon- your friends- between different games. Now that’s behind a paywall. I’m now fully convinced that Dexit was a marketing plot in order to profit off the fact that every Pokémon has a cult following, considering Home’s premium as well as the reasons GF said that they were cutting Pokémon for things like better animations and new models have been proven to be false. I bought Shield because I put faith in these beliefs and I was disappointed to find that I was wrong for reasons that we all ranted on these forums before. I only continue to play Shield only because of the multiplayer, which has had some nice QOL changes, but still there’s tedium getting BR Pokémon that I prefer Showdown still over cartridge. As an RPG I could never recommend SwSh over any other RPG such as DragonQuest 11 S and Fire Emblem: 3 Houses, both of which I find are better than SwSh in every way I can think of. Heck, I’d recommend any other core Pokemon games over SwSh.

Back to my point, if this is the direction the games are going in, I’m unfortunately going have to stop playing Pokémon. SwSh killed my expectations for the next titles, and I find other RPGs better in Pokémon in every way I can think of. It also means that my Pokémon are staying in Alola forever.

The mobile version lets you see the 3D Models, rotate them and so forth
why would you not have this in the switch version. If anything I'd have expected this to be the reverse had I not already seen the 3D Models in use in the mobile version for trades.
Did thye even want to do a switch version? Honestly....it feels like a mobile app and then they hurridly put together a switch version someimtes.

The egg thing is weird but not unsurprising, I suppose. For whatever reason Bank also can't store eggs. I really don't get why, iirc Pokemon Box & Ranch could store eggs; the former was even how they gave you the gift pokemon for storage milestones.

That is my question and why I keep looking for confirmed Pokemon that can transfer in on "middle of February". I mean, if it is just the few already in the base game... that is kind of lame. So we're going to get 35 or so Pokemon plus some Alola variants, and just have to wait until each expansion.

Which is fine if the price wasn't so high...

The point is that eventually Switch games will have entire pokedex available (expecially the one that comes after SwSh, seeing it'll have 800+ models/textures/animations ready without requiring any extra work).

So while *right now* yes, Home is going to be a prison for 200ish pokemon, eventually it won't be anymore.

Personally, my 3ds is as much as a prison as Home would be, as I haven't touched them in over a year and never will due to me really getting spoiled by the Switch screen and my eyes not really being as good as they used to anyway.
If I ever want to replay gen 6 or 7 games, i'd be restartin them and losing all pokemon anyway, so might as well move everything onwards at once and forget about it.

Honestly, I'm fine with Home only letting you withdraw from premium boxes with a subscription. It's an improvement on Bank, where your Pokemon were straight-up deleted if you didn't continually pay the subscription charge. If you're not using those Pokemon in the game anyway, does it really matter that much whether you can move them into your free slots or not? Withdrawing them when they become relevant is a one-time payment that's cheaper than a single Bank payment was, owing to the fact that you aren't obligated to buy a full year's subscription for a single use.

I can see the case for it, but unlike the possible case of having to pay to keep them existing in an app you can't remove them from, it doesn't feel like blatant exploitation to me. That said, I would like it if they offered free trial months when people are most likely to want to withdraw, perhaps as an early-buy bonus for the DLC. (I would very much *not* like it if they automatically moved things into free boxes, since I want to put Dexited mons in my paid boxes and still have free use of my free 30 slots for Pokemon I can battle with.)

My impression that there are technical difficulties with Home is solidifying, too, now that we're presumably less than two weeks from release and we *still* have no definite date. That's just bizarre to me.

Perhaps, but at the least with the 3DS games, you have the freedom of taking your Pokémon out even if you don’t want to. You can’t do that in Home.

The link cable is more similar to Switch Online. Technically true, but not specific to Pokemon and soemthing you likely already owned. I see a lot of posts and tweets that lump that price tag in there and its just c'mon
