  • Do you think
Meloetta with Parting Shot, Escalavier with King's Shield, or Gourgeist with Prankster would make sense

    alexwolf
Not really, except from King's Shield Escavalier, but this move is not that great anyway.
    Somethings that crossed my mind...
    gooey Muk
    Drain Punch/Mach Punch Machamp
    Infiltrator Luxray
    stone edge for Escavalier
    sheer force electivire
    LoDart210
Also thought about thick fat hippowdon. Would help out the special defense set a bit, and make it easier to team build around it
    alexwolf
    alexwolf
Hippo is already plenty viable, the rules say that the theorymon Pokemon should be in C rank or lower in the viability ranking thread.

    whoops, totally forgot. Thanks!
Theorymon discussion idea: Strong Jaw Krookodile. Firstly the idea is quite plausible since crocs do have the strongest bite forces in the animal kingdom so it's possible. Competitively wise, it heels krookodile much better offensively giving its Crunch much more power as well as good coverage with elemental fangs
I will not be capable of counting the votes at all tomorrow as around that time i'll be indisposed via school.
Magic Guard Kyurem. Access to moves such as Light Screen, Reflect, and Psychic mean it wouldn't be a huge stretch flavorwise I guess, while it gets rid of Kyurem's huge entry hazard problem, as well as making life orb sets more dangerous. Not a defensive buff, but a buff that would give Kyurem a legitimate niche in the OU metagame.
So. Many. Theorymons. I'm sure you'd like another idea, right? Let's talk about: Harvest Torterra. It fits great flavor-wise (I mean, he's got a freaking berry tree growing right on his back) and it would open up some fun possibilities for an otherwise NU mon.
I have a suggestion for the Theorymon Thread: Ghost/Steel Cofagrigus with Gyro Ball. This improves it's defensive typing considerably, and adds a STAB attack for the second typing. It also eliminates the possibility of poisoning Cofagrigus, which was a good counter before. Flavor-wise this makes enough sense because Cofagrigus is covered in pure gold.

Okay, brain fart, Gyro Ball would be terrible on a 'mon with base 50 attack. And since I've since read that we will only discuss single changes, just drop the steel move altogether. The secondary typing was the main thing anyway.
Hi, i saw your rating for fat hot n cold 's team, suggesting a slowbro. Could you post me an detailled example of how you would build up this slowbro? with moveset, ev, item etc
    thanks :)

Life Orb, max SpA max HP with Quiet nature and zero Speed IVs, Trick Room, Surf, Psyshock, (Ice Beam / Fire Blast), with Regenerator.
    Theorymon suggestion: No Guard Noivern
No guard allows Noivern to use hurricane reliably outside of the rain, and also makes focus blast more reliable. Its 97 SpA would prevent it from being broken, but allows it to function as a pretty good late game sweeper. I can see somewhat of a flavor problem, but it doesn't seem that out there. Its got an alliteration thing going I guess.
Theorymon discussion Idea: Milotic with a secondary Fairy typing. Actually I think that with a fairy typing, Milotic would reside in the upper tiers of OU, as a partner to M-Venusaur, the two would be able to wall nearly the entirety of OU. I think Milotic is "fairy-ish" enough to explore this idea, perhaps not as much as some other pokemon, but certainly enough.
tbh alexwolf i don't think leftovers should even get a mention on shaymin ever for 4 attacks. without lo psychic can't even 2hko m-venu who can sludge bomb back, it can't break through latias etc. it needs a spdef drop which isn't guaranteed. i don't think it is worth the mention even without synthesis / rest. shaymin can stay alive long enough anyway to do its job late-game
    alexwolf
    alexwolf
K, go for it, 4 attacks + LO. It's an ok answer to bulky waters with decent offensive presence. Put the healing moves to Moves, as Shaymin really needs all 4 attacks.
    trc
ok i will. i think irc crashed for a lot of people lol
Theorymon suggestion: Fur Coat Snorlax, patching up his lower Def to turn him into a mixed tank that can do stuff like survive Jolly MLuc's Close Combat with 0 Def EVs and a neutral nature.
Ew so many theorymon VMs. I almost feel bad about suggesting something. Still, my proposal is for Nasty Plot Aegislash. As a parallel to Swords Dance, Aegislash would be able to better take advantage of Shadow Ball and specific Hidden Powers to break past certain counters.
    alexwolf
    alexwolf
This theorymon breaks two of the main rules in the OP. First, Aegislash is already a Pokemon ranked higher than C in the viability ranking thread, and Aegislash with Nasty Plot would very possbily be broken.
Theorymon suggestion: Rapid Spin Ferrothorn. Can't get through some common spin blockers (trevenaunt and aegislash), but has great support movepool in leach seed, thunder wave, stealth rock, and spikes.
    alexwolf
    alexwolf
One of the main rules for theorymon ideas is that the Pokemon which you are buffing should be ranked C or lower in the viability ranking thread, and Ferrothorn is higher than this.

    oops, I should read more
Ok I think I have a interesting theorymon: Hydration Escavalier (and rain dance of course)
With Hydration Escavalier gets reliable recovery in rain+rest and rain also weakens his only weakness. With Hydration Escavalier can have an actual niche and his typing would be a huge boon to rain teams. It would also make a pretty good Mega-Venasaur counter (someting rain teams need) as rain halves synthesis.
Is it possible to suggest a theorymon with something that don't exist in the game?
    For example:
    Snow Rush Glaceon.
Glaceon has a base speed of 65, by doubling it, the result will have a positive impact in the game by making hail more useful, because the most powerful blizzard user in OU will hit first.
This pokémon will not be broken due to the nerf to weather, priority users and entry hazards.

    alexwolf
    Unfortunately no.

OK. Thank you for your answer. I'll think on a way to make Glaceon, or other ice pokémon, better with things that exist.
I use a - to put space between the letter. I realize now how moronic that is.

I still think its more effective than that. It's a pretty independent Pokemon, so argument that it requires support is pretty weak
    alexwolf
    alexwolf
I agree that it should be higher, but the majority doesn't. Also, Tangrowth needs support because it is fucked up by some of the best MEvos and Pokemon in general, namely both Mega Charizard, Mega Pinsir, and Genesect..
    I have a couple ideas for the Theorymon thread;
    - Synthesis Ferrthorn
    - Recover Rotoms
    - Ground/Steel Rhyperior// He's a drill right ?
    - Slack Off Swampert
    - Bug/Dragon Yanmega
    - Normal Mew// Mew was suppose to be the original pokemon, so it makes more sense for all pokemon to start from one common type pokemon.
    - Close Combat Dragonite// If a cow like Terrakion gets it why not a bipedal dragon ?
Couple of ideas I came up with on the fly:
    Sheer force for mega aerodactyl
Add a fairy type to ninetales
    Iron head for salamence
    Sucker punch scrafty
Flash cannon Latios (he already has luster purge so its not a question of flavor)
Sorry Axel, I had practice this morning and was unable to check the thread to do the head count on who won. Again, sorry bout that man.

Also, how bout Competitive (being switche with Unnerve I guess. Take your pick) Pyroar?
    alexwolf
    alexwolf
No problem, just make sure to tell me beforehand next time, so that the thread doesn't stay inactive for half a day. As for Competitive Pyroar, it's really not a big enough of a buff to make Pyroar viable. Boomburst Pyroar on the other hand would be way better.
    Salemance
    Salemance
Would it though? I would think being to able to boost its decent if not mediocre sp atk to abuse some of its other move would be better. I'm all for a spammable move, but would that not make more sense?
    Salemance
    Salemance
I only say decent/mediocre since it will always face a team slot with Char Y who has 50 more points to abuse...
