  • Lois Lane: “What’s the ’S’ stand for?”

Clark Kent: “It’s not an ’S’. On my world it means ‘hope’.”

Lois Lane: “Well here it’s an ’S’. How about … Superman—”

Clark Kent: “No. I am Hopeman.”

did she actually say "how about superman"??? That's rly patronizing tbh

I don't think she actually said that, I guess it had to be added for the next line to make sense
My name is Julie, my mother's name was Susan, she was killed in a car accident with my father and they're both dead!

this is from the next karate kid with hillary swank an example of expertly communicated exposition
LOL just saw a really funny review of The Last Airbender and it was saying "what if Mad Max: Fury Road had the same exposition narration as The Last Airbender"

fuck that would be SO funny, can you just imagine that

"Immortan Joe ruled over the citadel with an iron fist. His loyal servants, who called themselves "war boys" did as he commanded. They believed that they would live again in the afterlife, which is called Valhalla."

"We traveled for many miles on the war rig. Nux and Capable became friends right away."
ever notice the 2009 Star Trek is a lot like Star Wars anyway. Like Kirk being a farmboy with an important father, planet destroyed midway, climax the planet-destroyer heading toward main base planet etc.
I relate. I really can't go for it though, I like a woman 25 years older than me. I really have a deep connection with her, and I know it's mutual. I can see how she wants to connect with me too, but it would be highly inappropriate for us to get too close.

Almost all these things in this video are things I do though, and it might be obvious to her that I find her very attractive, but man.. so be it. She can take it as a compliment or whatever.

man though that'd be deletion like several years after the fact like lol. talk about a retcon
The other characters--Obi-Wan Kenobi, Padme Amidala, Anakin Skywalker--seem so strangely stiff and formal in their speech that an unwary viewer might be excused for thinking they were the clones, soon to be exposed.

why fanfic up a scene only to be mad your scene isn't in the movie? And jabba was a minor character, the plot needed to move on from him. I miss Scottish jaba tbh
    Hulavuta
    Hulavuta
    this was just a sidenote

anyway I feel like the choking by Leia is a similar "hoist by his own petard" scene so I don't mind. Like he chained up Leia as well as trying to feed Luke and Han to the Sarlacc so the point is his actions came back to bite him in the butt. It's the same idea just different practically. Anyway it'd have to be a shitty CGI Jabba effect anyway, no way that huge-ass puppet would be able to do it. So I like how it went.
What is your opinion on graphic novels as a medium
    Hulavuta
    Hulavuta
I no longer believe this now that I have been told about Watchmen.

Graphic novels can use parallelism in a way that films can't, because multiple pages and panels are being seen at the same time.

On a lesser scale, you can use more stylized color for different panels. Animation you can do that, but it's weird if it's inconsistent. Like in a graphic novel you can just make a *single* panel red and it's not weird.

You can also play with inter-panel imagery which obviously is not possible in movies. Also pacing can be more manipulated with panels.

you mean the individual jokes or the runtime
    GatoDelFuego
    GatoDelFuego
the runtime, I thought the video would end with grievous and was laughing as the jokes kept building on top of each other; it kind of ended more weak than the middle but oh well. I lose track of time how long "4 minutes" actually is so with these kinds of vids I always think they end sooner (just like with stuff like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpSXgsKiVLA&user=blazinskrubs)

do i really need to explain what I dislike about a culture critic whose entire argument revolves around male gaze theory, leeches footage from LPers, hasn't played any video games, thinks video games cause violence, and gets paid to tell the UN how hard her life is?
    Hulavuta
    Hulavuta
yeah I don't really know much about her

this vid is so dumb lol it's like an unfocused CinemaSins ripoff. it just doesn't mesh well when you try to judge good or bad but also analyze

judging if a movie is the best movie ever by how many references it has? what?

i'm stopping after one more: "the woman who stark confronts is named miriam, after the woman who confronts stark in the comic about her son's death"

The joker in batman: the dark knight is named after the comic book character "The Joker", a reference to another anarchist character that seeks to plunge gotham into chaos

    Hulavuta
    Oh

Yeah these are really good analyses though. Like I don't agree with everything said in them but he clearly does research and understands things beyond the superficial.

Like its amazing how little he talks about Jar Jar and Hayden Christensen. Which is to say like not at all (and even says Hayden is a good actor in other things). Very knowledgeable and very not-bandwagon/echo chamber/Circlejerky. Which is actually really sad because because it is so smart people just kinda quote it mindlessly and don't do the same level of critical thinking that he did originally
