Yeah, I used to in Emerald, but I've learned how in HGSS and now I never want to pick up Emerald again, haha.
RNGing in Emerald is possible. It's very simple and easy to understand, but it's really hard to actually do...

I never got around to doing Primo's eggs, but I'm fairly sure it is method 1. When you have Primo set up, just save in front of him and do a test RNG. If you get a result somewhere on your seed list, you'll know you can get the egg you want off of him. :-)
