Great results for Liverpool, it's always nice to see Utd get beat especially in the last minute - I don't know why, I'm probably just jealous, jealous of their jammy lucky disgusting cheating ways... I is not bitter. Anyhoo, the big news is:
I FIGURED OUT WHY WENGER WANTS GOTZE!
OK so Wenger spent 12mil on 18 yr old Chamberlain in the summer and I + everyone was like wtf. And now he wants to spend 30mil on 19 yr old Gotze and I + everyone is like wtf. But... if you put them together with the current Arsenal mildfield and run the clock a few years you get:
Wilshere: Had an amazing loan spell at Bolton, Arsenal's best player (ahead of Fabregas, RVP, Nasri etc etc) on his first full season and breaks into the England team despite still being eligible for the under 19s. Played against Barca like he was playing against West Brom, ie like a boss. Is even on the cover of Fifa 12 and they only show the best players in the world on there likeomgz.
Frimpong: He was so good he was meant to get into the Arsenal first XI ahead of Wilshere last season but a season-long injury held him back. Performed so well on his debut at loan club Wolves this season that he gained instant cult status and has gotten a standing ovation every game from Wolves fans. Best friends with Wilshere and they have been long standing partners in midfield right through the youth programme incl winning the Youth Cup 09.
Ramsey: He was one of Arsenal's best midfielders and on par with Fabregas before the leg break injury. Gary Speed thought so highly of him that he was made Wales captain even though he is only 20 years old and barely has a few caps.
Oxlade-Chamberlain: He got huge hype while at Southhampton, his performances has pretty much established himself as Arsenal's best winger even at 18 years of age. He has apparently played himself into the England frame and estalished himself alongside Wilshere in Capello's fap folder.
Gotze: I honestly have not seen this kid play apart from against Arsenal so I don't know much about him. But he has all the top clubs in Europe wanting him so he must be doing something right. Apparently going to be one of the top midfielders/forwards in Europe.
I guess when Wenger lost Fabregas and Nasri he gave up on that generation and decided to splash big on Chamberlain and shifted his thoughts to the next generation. So buying Gotze makes sense because an attacking midfield of Ramsey, Gotze and Chamberlain anchored by Frimpong and Wilshere looks pretty unstoppable. The only problem is...
- The thought of Wenger spending £30mil+ on one player
- 'Good potential' is dangerously overrated.
- The innocent belief that they won't leave when they reach their peak at 24yrs of age
- It's all well and good having an invincible midfield but where the fuck is the defence...
- It's Wenger; tenner bets Arshavin with his white beard is still playing left mid by that time.
Sorry about the essay.
