5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

Right, just so I get this right and don't waste further time doing something that I could be doing wrong.

To hit my delay correctly, do I press A on the screen where it says Some functions of the C-Gear will be restricted, is that OK? When the second timer finishes.

Or do I touch yes on the screen where it says Turn on the C Gear and establish communications? When the second timer finishes.

I'm asking, because while the front page of this thread says to do the later, I am positive I have seen in here several posts saying to press A on the first point to hit my delay.

If you're interested this is what I am going for:

Seed: A5280C0F
Date 13th Nov 2011
Delay: 1617
Frame 3
IVs: 30/3/30/31/31/31
Mac Address: 1305B3

Tha latter; touch Yes on the touchscreen after getting into the game and touching the C GEar Power button when the second timer finishes.

"Turn on the C Gear and establish communications" on the touch screen :) You're supposed to turn it on in-game.

OK now I have that established :)

Next bit is, I have 20 seconds to get in to the game and get to that point, accounting to the 7-ish second delay in the load up season screen, how do I do it lol

EDIT: Am using EonTimer 1.2 if that helps?

DOUBLE EDIT: Ignore this, just figured out the need to re-calibrate :p

When using the EonTimer do you go on the 6th beep, as using an AR it takes a second or so to load the game and get the white screen. Or will EonTimer take this into account, when you calibrate?

I'm using the retail cart by the way.

Still on the 6th beep, it should be consistent regardless. But remember if you're using an AR to calibrate that you have to always use an AR after that, or else you'll have to calibrate again without.

Thanks dude, that helped alot. Just missed my delay by 1, but at least I understand now. cheers

Okay. Just to be sure if I understood what tolanator said.

On the 4th gen. you have to rng abuse SID/ID combo's (when you're starting a new game) in order to get wild shinies and legendary shinies, but on the 5th gen. you don't have to, right?

OmegaDonut asked me to help anyone who asks me personally how to find their parameters. Stick to VM's, DO NOT PM ME. Here are the instructions though, which are likely what I will tell you if you message me.

To everyone trying to find their DS parameters, here are the steps:
0. Inform yourself that the current version of RNG Reporter only supports Japanese versions. Keep the C-gear turned OFF as not not screw up your seed.
1. Enter your FULL MAC Adress (all 12 digits). OD actually recommends this for all MAC values in order to keep uniformity (plus, this value works for any place where you currently use 6 digits).
2. Start the game at an arbitrary seconds value (you must know its range within a minute, not that hard).
3. Encounter Cobalion (recommended), and catch with your master ball (do not save!!! you are only finding your parameters!)
4. Verify its IVs. Three (3) Rare Candies are good enough to narrow it down to a very small range of IVs.
5. Set your minimum seconds value to 0, and max to 59, since it will definitely lie within that range.
6. Try every possible combo of IVs, and it will find your parameters for you.
7. Here is a convo I had on irc with bond697 regarding emulators:

[15:34] <Bond697> i see someone asked you about using an emulator
[15:34] <Bond697> there are only 2 possible parameter sets for that
[15:34] <Bond697> 1 with bus-level timing on and 1 with bus-level timing off
[15:35] <Bond697> you also need to search wayyy different parameter sets than the default to find a working set
[16:03] <LoLNixLunch> what do you mean by different parameters?
[16:03] <LoLNixLunch> you mean different seeds/seconds values?
[16:19] <Bond697> different vcount/timer0/vframe
[16:20] <Bond697> it depends on whether the person has bus-level timing on or off
[16:20] <Bond697> just fyi so you don;t end up confused later
[16:28] <NixHex> okay
[16:30] <NixHex> is there a default for bus-level timing in desmume or whatever emulater they choose to use?
[17:01] <Bond697> i think it defaults to on
[17:02] <Bond697> it's in the emulator config options

Got a few questions about this:
1. Finding parameters is needed for Shiny abuse, right?
2. Can I find my parameters if I already have a saved game?
3. Can I use a rebattle code for Cobalion since I already captured it?
4. This is only for non C-gear, right?

Has anyone using emloop timer noticed a malfunction of it ?

It seems the second timer never starts, which is, obviously, quite embarrassing.

1. [edit]Newts, there is no such thing as a "shiny IV spread;" what are you talking about?[/edit] Shininess is tied to the Pokemon's PID, which is NOT tied to IVs. There is no magic formula like there was in generations 3 and 4 to nab the PID from IVs/nature.
2. That's the point. There is no way to find these parameters upon starting a new file, but you can find these parameters at any part in the game as long as you can find the exact IVs.
3. Of course.
4. Yes, that is the only reason you would want to do these tests. The current RNG Reporter only supports Japanese carts, so unless you are using one of those, don't waste your time.

Hope that helps, and good luck!

1. We don't know what determines the seed for the RNG that decides PID (someone correct me if I'm wrong). This is purely for manipulation of IVs. Shininess is tied to the Pokemon's PID, which is NOT tied to IVs. There is no magic formula like there was in generations 3 and 4 to nab the PID from IVs/nature.
You are wrong, using non Cgear methods it is indeed possible to choose shiny IV spreads.

The OP mentions not to ask about non Cgear yet so just be patient and when they know, so will you.

Totally awesome! I do have an English Black card, so I'll wait until the new RNG reporter will be released, so I can capture Shiny Pokémon with non C-Gear ^^.

Just to be sure, I cannot capture a Shiny Pokémon with C-Gear, right?

You can, but it'll be pure luck. I had a shiny while C-Gear RNGing, but it didn't have the IVs I needed.

Since PIDs aren't tied to IVs, you can kind of compare it to breeding in 4th gen. Finding a PID is trivial, since so many different PIDs can produce the same gender/ability/nature. All you have to do is find one that produces a shiny based off your SID/ID. It is all theoretical at this point. Please don't stress about ID abuse since I don't think the method of generation has been found yet. Even when it is found out, the only reason you'd need it is if you were trying to make it something cool like 00311 or 01337.

Ok i have a question about non C-Gear RNG.
-The current RNG Reporter only supports Japanese carts, so I can find these parameters for my ds lite using my White Version(JP), and here is the question.

If I find my parameters for my DS lite with White Version (JP), Is it possible to use these parameters to do non C-Gear RNG in my Black Version(US)?.That's my question because the parameters shouldn't change regardless of which version I'm using right?

How does C-Gear breeding work? I've shifted a flawless Modest Ditto to breed with. So do I save in front of the day-care man, and then try to hit a C-Gear seed or something?

What is the Delay? I missed my target and when i caught the pokemon, its IV's were in one of the results at the bottom in the "if you messed up, you got one of these" section but once i know which result I got, what do I do?

When I try to open RNG Reporter I get:

"An unhandled exception ('System.UriFormatException') occured in RNGReporter.exe [2212]."

Any idea what would cause this? It happens every single time I open it and the program immediately crashes. I tried redownloading, re-extracting all the files and rebooting the computer and it doesn't help.

Indeed, you are wrong. Two totally different things.
The OP mentions not to ask about non Cgear yet so just be patient and when they know, so will you.
Read his original post. OD asked him to. Besides, he's answering questions, not asking them.

This is a sketchy area for whether or not you can ask but it seems likely to me that your parameters are the same. The problem is that the way they are used is different in the U/E versions and the current reporter will not show you the correct seeds.

This might sound stupid, but, everytime when I've hit my seed and I turn on the C-Gear, the center starts glowing red in stead of green. Coincidence?
