5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

I am trying to egg RNG a shiny Litwick and am having some strange trouble that I was hoping someone could help me with. First I should say that with the way my game behaves I have found that I need to stop listening to my Chatot two pidrng frames away from my target instead of one in order to hit it. Having said that, if I stop two away from my target (Lo(15)Hardy) I end up with the spread just before (Lo (03) Hasty) the shiny one I am aiming for. If I stop three before it I end up with the one after it (MH (61) Sassy), and if I stop one before it, as I should, I also end up with the Sassy spread. Any ideas???

I don't think that should happen normally, so most likely you're taking too long to talk to the guy after closing the menu and NPCs are advancing it in between. If that's the case, then you can probably fix your problem by saving again (without taking the egg) so the NPCs will start in different positions.

That might be the case, however I have successfully RNG several pokemon by doing this. I have no idea why it isn't working with Litwick but I'll try and be faster with this one and see how it goes. If this is not the problem do you have any other ideas for me to try?

Actually, he might be right. With PPRNG, I've found that with eggs, you should advance to two frames before your intended frame for eggs. Maybe chiizu should give insight into this.

If you still aren't successful try what voodoo suggested. If you resave, the NPCs will have different positions and they should advance the frame a bit differently the next time you load the game, which should then make it possible for you to hit your frame.

Edit: Jedi, Idk if it's just PPRNG. Whenever I do egg abuse, I always stop two frames before and I get my shiny egg. I think it's just that the NPCs on the route like advancing by two frames :o

Yeah, adding one or two seems to be a pretty effective way to deal with smaller amounts of NPC's. I remember it being effective to catch the Soul Dew Latios in HG/SS as well.

I had to add two as well to deal with the problem. Still trying to breed a Shiny T-Tar, albeit to no luck yet.

ok im having trouble hitting my pidrng in breeding im going for a shiny flawless jolly axew. my starting frame is 46 and my target is 74 so i have to do 28 chatot flips but so far ive gotten a relaxed normal axew 3 times which is frame 78 and ive gotten a timid one 1 which is frame 79 do you think its safe to say that maybe i could only do 24 chatot flips and hit my frame 74? due to npcs moving the frames

frame 115? Unless you waited for like 5 minutes to talk to the old man, that's not possible; maybe you hit your fluctuated timer0

Is one of the parameters needed to rng. It usually fluctuates between two values though, and there's nothing you can do about it.

well then it would appear that my game hates me thank you for your help im gonna go scream at a ds for an hour and a half
Nevermind i adjusted to flipping chatot 25 times and i finally hit the right frame thank you cereza for your help.

Need help with RNG abuse:

I'm using the latest version, v9.95 BETA. I'm trying to catch the new Wondercard Darkrai (on English White Version), Timid 31/19/31/31/31/31. Target seed is 90D70F0F4891B31E, target is Frame 86. My DS MAC Address is 001AE90FD793.

Wondercard RNG is soo simple, so I just went for it. However, after following RNG Reporter's instructions (Date 04/16/12, Time 13:47:15, Starting Frame of Seed = 48), I got Bold with random IVs (I forget the exact result, but I remember it's hightest IV was 26 Spe). I triple checked everything: I copied the seed into the main window correctly, had the right time and date, and pressed A at the DS's main menu on 13:47:14 (my game has a 1 sec differential, so by doing that the game seeds at the right time). After getting the same bad result 3 consecutive times, I figured that the only thing I could be doing wrong was miscounting frame advancements, because I checked what results came up in RNG Reporter and I was doing everything else right. So on the fourth time, I counted 38 custom chatot cries as thoroughly as a person can. Still got the same result as the first three.
I've done 5th Gen Wondercard before, never had a problem. I think RNG Reporter is giving me the wrong info. What do I do?

are you doing this in the pokemon league? npc might advance at any time in other pokemon centers.

edit: try checking your initial frame first by chattering 1 time. and finding what you did hit in the list of pidrng frames.

Are you in a Pokemon Center with moving NPCs? That's the only thing I can think of, but you said you've done WC abuse before so you most likely are at the Pokemon League where there are no NPCs. You could try using the Adjacent Seed tool to see if you might somehow be missing your seconds. Also, make sure you're pressing the right keypresses (or not pressing anything if you have none).

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that the seed requires no keypresses, and I don't do any (I wait until after the GameFreak logo's animation is over to press the A button).
IDK, I've had a lot of tech related problems today, I try the process again tomorrow from a fresh start. Getting pretty sick of computers today.

EDIT: Got the Darkrai =). I just picked a different seed, one that required 10 advancements, got the thing in literally a few minutes. I guess it's possible that earlier I got a bad seed?

Hey. I'm having problems with Entralink RNG abuse.

Here's my DS info first:

Pokemon White
MAC: 0009bf795a5c
VCount: 60
VFrame: 8
GxStat: 6
C-Gear Seed: c88b6a4c
Standard Seed: 872D2584808F8104
Frame: 177
IV: 31/31/31/31/31/0
Delay: 4068
Date and Time: 6/24/12 18:26:30

I've had other successful Entralink RNG captures, but this one boggles me. Maybe I'm missing something. I basically keep getting the IV spread: 5-6/14/26/27/9/13 when trying to catch Remoraid, yet when I try to search IVs in the Seed to Times window, no results show up, not even when I put +/- 9999 delay and +/- 9 seconds. From what I can tell, I know I'm hitting the standard seed when checking with my Chatots.

I don't know what seed I'm hitting. Can anyone assist me? Thanks in advance.

Ugh, this is killing me.

Trying to do a Jolly Pokemon for a trade in an Entralink RNG, and I seem to be getting a non-random set of natures for the most part.

I am getting somewhat of a predictable pattern for natures:
Lots of Carefuls
Quite a few Rash
1 Naughty
1 Adamant
1 Quiet
No Neutrals
No Speed +'s

Is there any way to randomize the natures? Will putting more Pokemon in the first area randomize the PIDRNG without killing my frame?

Please let me know.

-James

Pick a different date for the C-Gear seed. That would yield a different standard seed (PIDRNG is not reseeded unlike the IVRNG).

Like Hozu said, picking a different C-Gear date+time would give you different natures because it would change the standard seed you hit (the standard seed always controls the PIDRNG). Another thing you could do is wait a little longer before catching the Pokemon, since the C-Gear advances the PID constantly, so the longer you wait, the higher frames you will hit, and these frames will most likely have different natures than the ones you're currently getting. Another thing you could do is press some keypresses to change the standard seed. These won't really randomize the results, they'll just get you different ones.

Ugh, just did a 1512 frame for a Shiny Volcarona in the Desert Castle and it did not show up Shiny (got the right nature and stats though and seemed to hit the right frame, not sure though)

Is there a ban on Volcarona being Shiny like with Reshiram and Zekrom?

-James

Volcarona can be shiny, most likely you hit a nearby frame with the same nature instead. I don't recommend going for a frame that high unless you're using Chatot pitches, just because it's a lot of work if you mess up and easy to lose count.

My Frame 1's don't really allow for that: Between 2011 and 2012 the 1512 was my lowest Shiny frame for flawless. And that's actually somewhat sensible compared to my other games as of late......
