Can someone teach me pokemon metagame?
Do you still get the EV's by holding an EV enhancing item if it is knocked-off or if it's removed some other way?
My question remains unanswered.
I've got a question in regards to Download. Say that a Pokemon has exactly the same Defense and Special Defense, due to a combination of EVs/Ivs/Nature, which stat will Download boost? Thinking logically I believe it would target whichever of the two stats was lower as a base stat for that particular Poke, or does it just randomly decide?
Hello, I'm going to play in a local tournament playing with OU and the regular clauses stated here. I would like to know what is the simplest, yet effective, type of team to use, and perhaps examples of people who have posted such teams. Thank-you!
It's worth noting that many YouTubers try to use teams that are intentionally unusual in order to get more views (UUs in OU, etc.). As such, they tend not to be so influential among people looking to win.I really don't think that it makes much of a difference. With thousands of users playing thousands of battles, the likelihood that a single YouTube user will popularize a team is pretty low unless they can top the ladder. Just winning won't convince people, any team can beat any other team with enough hax or a big enough skill disparity.
Anyone else (read: somebody who actually follows the YouTube Pokemon scene) is welcome to disagree with me here.
seconded. if you watch like theflamingspade and nbz they say ou battle and they're really doing like 1 OU 3 NU 1 RU 1 UU, it gets them views. The better people to watch for tips and sets to use imo are people like wilechase, shofu, and tonyflygon, people who actually use teams with Pokemon from the given tier. Just throwing it out thereIt's worth noting that many YouTubers try to use teams that are intentionally unusual in order to get more views (UUs in OU, etc.). Would it be fine to build my team off the suggestions on the Scizor strategy page?Make sure to bring CB scizor and a pokemon that uses Stealth Rock, that will be enough against many teams.
Would it be fine to build my team off the suggestions on the Scizor strategy page?
Thanks for your well-explained response.I wouldn't recommend doing so. You didn't specify when the tournament is but after taking the suggestions of the other people who have responded to you, I would recommend making a team and heading to http://pokemonshowdown.com to test it out against other OU teams before the tournament. As far as building your team goes, if you read some good RMTs, you will notice that in the process of creating the team, many people start with 1 Pokémon and pick teammates from there. For instance, Scizor likes a teammate that can take Fire-type attacks such as Politoed. Politoed will also provide weather for your team and give you an advantage. So now you can add a Pokémon that enjoys rain such as Jirachi or Dragonite. It would also be a good idea to try to include Pokémon that fulfill certain niches like hazard setter at this point. Sets I mentioned for reference:

You might want to look around the Wi-Fi boards, there's plenty of kind users who might be able to give you what you need. Thanks for your well-explained response.
The tournament is next Saturday, so there's still some time, but I don't have access to Pokemon Dream World, as my 3DS can't connect to the wi-fi where I am; it's a campus tournament. So I realize that limits what kinds of teams I can build, especially weather teams.
I want to use a bronzong in my ou team to counter tornadus-t and dragons. What would be the best ev spread to handle these threats?
First of all, focus on the dragons because even Specs-Tornadus-T only barely 3HKO you with Hurricane when you have maximum HP. You however can 2HKO it after SR or with merely 32 EVs on Atk with Gyro Ball.I want to use a bronzong in my ou team to counter tornadus-t and dragons.
