I was wondering why the new mixmence's evs have 16atk/240atk spread when it cannot do what it says it's supposed to (at least in the current meta): 2HKO blissey (wish set...obviously) with draco meteor and outrage? Just wondering DAWGS

I haven't really been play competitively only against a few friends, but have been wanting to get started on in competitive battling. I know that the team I have now won't do too well in competitive battles especially since one of my strongest sweepers will most likely be banned soon. I was wondering if anyone has a good team for competitive battling. If you would like to know what my current team is then just let me know.

Why did the accuracy shift of Hypnosis severely impact it's use so badly when 70% to 60% isn't very much?

I personally inferred that for most competitive players, 70% was at the level of decent accuracy for its use, while the regular 60% was extremely gimmicky. I mean, its D/P accuracy was just 5% below Sleep Powder, so I suppose it became popularized because it's just a hair lower than that.

You could always study the articles on the site, and build your team up from what you learned. Then you could post your team in an RMT on the forums, and they'll be users willing to support your team and tweak it out so it'll run better for your style.

There's also the Tutor program that should help you immensely. And of course, welcome to Smogon.

Froslass does not only have similar defensive stats, but also far worse defensive typing; why is Destiny Bond used on Froslass if so?

Should Destiny Bond be avoided even of Gengar is leading, should it lead at all?

Destiny Bond is always a bit of a gimmick, but can work. Predict right and you take down a key opposing Pokemon. Make its presence known and you play mind games.
The real problem is the moveslot's better spent on something else. Gengar's much more powerful than Froslass - why D-Bond and risk being set up on or your opponent just switching when you can just attack? D-Bond also has competition from Explosion, which plays a very similar role without requiring so much prediction, on Gengar.

Now that latias is gone I needed a suitable replacement and wasnt sure where to ask.

Does anyone have any helpful suggestions?

I ran the standard cm shuffle latias with its useful ability to roar, heal and set up for neutral dragon pulse damage. It filled my counters for breloom, most empoleon, most heatran, most nape and most suicune.

Thanks in advance

Amnesia on Torkoal...Gimmicky or Worthwhile?

My specific Torkoal has the following nature and spread...

Nature: Relaxed
IVs: 31 / 31 / 31 / 31 / 31 / 0
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpAtk

...At level 50, this Torkoal has stats of 177 / 105 / 211 / 106 / 90 / 22. One use of Amnesia would bring SpDef stat up to 180 (at level 50), with an already decent HP and phenominal Def stats.

StarBP:

Here is how I believe IVs are inherited. The baby begins with random IVs, then receives three random IVs, each from a random stat and from a random parent. In each iteration, if the parent is holding an item like Power Anklet, it will receive the IV for the stat that corresponds to that item instead of for a random stat. Keep in mind though that this theory is untested.

Assume, for example, that the mother holds a Power Bracer and the father holds no item.
Iteration 1. The game chooses a Defense IV and the game chooses the mother. The game changes the IV inherited to an Attack IV since the mother holds Power Bracer. The baby inherits the mother's Attack IV.
Iteration 2. The game chooses a Special Attack IV and the game chooses the father. The baby inherits the father's Special Attack IV.
Iteration 3. The game chooses an Attack IV and the game chooses the father. The baby inherits the father's Attack IV.

Note that at the end, the baby inherits the father's Attack IV instead of the mother's, even though the mother holds a Power Bracer. Moreover, there is a 1/8 chance that the game won't choose the mother to inherit IVs at all. That's why Power Bracer and the like don't guarantee that the baby will inherit the holder's IVs.

So if the mother holds a Power Bracer, and the game chooses these three:

Mother's Special Attack
Father's Speed
Mother's Special Defense

then I know the first time the mother's Attack will be chosen (due to Power Bracer), and the second time the father's Speed will be chosen, but the third time which one will be chosen: Mother's SpDef, or Mother's Attack? In other words, does the Power Bracer take effect more than once?

That's a good question. However, a strict reading of my inheritance theory will suggest that Power Bracer applies each time: "In each iteration, if the parent is holding an item like Power Anklet, it will receive the IV for the stat that corresponds to that item instead of for a random stat."

Regarding the Soul Dew Article

The Soul Dew article still says

"However, with the recent movement of Latias from the Uber to OU tier"

Could somebody change that to reflect Latias's movement to Ubers?

Skinny Jeans

No. Pursuit doesn't trigger when a Pokemon uses Baton Pass, because using Baton Pass doesn't count as normal switching. My description for Pursuit reads: "When opponent switches ... user uses this attack ..."
