I'm... a tad bit "lost"! :)

Where do I start on here?

I came looking to sign up for the apprentice program where I read you need 10 or more post. Following this, I read a bunch of randomized threads (I don't use forums very often, so I'm a bit unclear on how all this works?) and it all looks so complex. I didn't know where or even how to do a post (obviously I figured the posting part out ;D!)

Can anyone do a breakdown of the smogon forums dummies? (Namely, this dummy?)

Well, you may wanna read the guides on smogon's main site (click the icon on the top right corner of the page).

From there, play some battles online on Shoddy Battle or Pokémon Online.

And don't worry, you'll catch up soon. Oh, and welcome to Smogon!

And as a general guide to the forums, the forums are broken down into four parts: the Pokemon section, where people discuss competitive battling. That is where you are now, in the area (Stark Mountain) reserved for 4th generation battling (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold, Soul Silver). There is also an area (Uncharted Territory) reserved for 5th generation (Black and White) and an area (Ruins of Alph) reserved for discussion of older generations. Finally there is the Wifi area, for anything related to Wifi.

Then, there are other sections of the forums, and they can all be seen here. Each of the forums is displayed, with a small description. Just look around for a bit. And don't worry, we were all new once!

EDIT: I just remembered, if there is one bit of advice I have, then steer clear of Firebot for a bit. It has an interesting culture that you really need to get used to.
 
I'm glad to read you are so welcoming of newbies.

I was wondering if there are any freelancers who would be willing to RNG me a Snorlax? I don't have access to a PC and therefore no access to the RNG software. I could grind out some battle tower prizes or the like. I'm playing Pearl. Could you PM me with a yes?

Guess this is a better place to ask.

Feel like RNGing something different today. Would a Brave 0 Speed IV Anorith/Armaldo with Curse work at all (for Trick Room obviously)?

Don't really want to RNG something that won't be of any use, so I figured maybe I'd get some advice before going forward with trying this.
 
It would make a lot of sense to have a Trick Room Armaldo. 125 is a very nice attack stat, and 45 is hopeless for speed. The only thind is that it faces a lot of competition in Trick Room teams, because there are slower and stronger Pokemon available. I would say that it is a good idea if you are trying a team based on Trick Room, because it would work well as a sweeper under Trick Room.
 
dont know if this is where I should put this but I am having trouble getting connected to the beta server of pokemon online. It asks me for a password when ever i try to enter(i assume i put in my own?) and then it disconnects me immediately. Am I doing something wrong?
 
That means you are putting in the wrong password, so it looks like someone else uses the username that you are trying to use. Try putting another name in the screen where you put your win and lose messages.
 
Okay I have my Shiny EV trained blissey here. I'm running the 2 attacks set from the site, with Softboiled, Thunderwave, Seismic Toss, and....the 4th move is stumping me.

ev spread i trained her with is 148 HP(leftovers number), 96 Sp.Attack, 252 Def, and 12 Sp.Def.

i want to use flamethrower but I have Ice Beam instead because of the 96 in special attack. could i still run flamethrower in that slot like my team needs *successfully* with my EV spread? (or should i replace thunder wave with toxic if flamethrower will still work?)
 
A word on cheating.

Is using Pro Action Replay codes to get an event item ie: Member Card, Eon Ticket, etc. and then catching/RNGing specified nature/IVs still considered Legit?
Or does that make them legal hacks. Since cheats were technically used to abuse and get them.

On the same note, if I tweak to get it, Legit or Legal?

Example. I use AR to get a Member Card. Then take the boat, and save in front of Darkrai. I RNG a shiny flawless Darkrai. Is that considered now a legit Darkrai?
Same with Arceus and Shaymin.

I ask because it seems easier to RNG Shaymin as an encounter than it would be for me to RNG my wondercard. Given wandering NPCs in pokemart and the fact that Nature's are randomized.
 
does Weezing absorb Toxic Spikes?
I'm not certain how Levitate factors into that equation.
I would assume it does not absorb them because levitate keeps it from from "touching" the spikes but I wanted to make sure.

cosiderd legit but you must say that they came from a "hacked wondercard/event if you put them in your thread"
