the answer to your breeding question on the power items is just dumb luck, not the power items.

as to the EV's, it's because only multiples of four give a stat point. and 508 is divisible by four, where 510 is not

@mickcatron: Get a flawless Ditto if you're going to IV breed. You can probably find one on pokecheck.org or perhaps some kind person might trade you one if you ask in the wifi simple questions/requests thread.

P.S. RNGing is way faster though it's more difficult to learn.

Hi guys, I'm new here and I had a question and blah blah blah... anyways! I was puttin' around in the battle subway and I met this guy who I thought had a good poke. It was a...

Alomomola@Leftovers
=Dive
=Aqua Ring
=Toxic

This Cobalion and Darmanitan, and it didn't even do anything! I'm kinda new to competitive battling, and I'm just wondering if this was a good strategy. I was thinking about utilizing it's Hydration (Healer is useless, I don't want to double battle) and putting Rain Dance in that blank spot, or replacing dive with protect (except dive is essentially protect + an attack). Then maybe max out Def and Sp. Def EV's. You know, just a general tank. So... any thoughts to this?

Let me run something past you guys.

Nidorino @ Eviolite
252 Atk/252 HP
Adamant
Hustle
~Hone Claws
~Shadow Claw
~Double Kick
~Strength

Could this work at all? And before anybody asks, I specifically am asking about Nidorino because I like it and have wanted to have an effective way to use it for ages. If something like this COULD work, then should anything be changed? Nature? EVs? Moves?

Not at all. It's majorly outclassed and just plain bad.

Not sure if this has been posted, and it wasn't listed in the thread linked in the main post. Do Turboblaze, Terravolt, and Mold Breaker disable Wonder Guard, Truant, and/or Slow Start?

If genesect was released, would it be OU for suspect testing or would it go straight to uber? cuz i think arceus went straight to uber, no?
Arceus was immediately banned because it was known to be overpowering. Most notably, it has the highest overall stats in the game; all Pokemon with a BST of 670 or higher without a hindering ability are banned, and Arceus has a BST of 720. Genesect has a BST of 600, the same as many other legendaries and pseudo-legendaries. It has also been allowed in PO's Dream World tier, despite not being officially released, and while in that tier, it has displayed great effectiveness, but nothing about it at all seems to be broken. Therefore, Genesect will not be banned, because there isn't the slightest reason to ban it.

It's reduced by 1/4.

Also Soulfly they were just uploading the B/W dex.
Rather, it's reduced to 1/4 - 320 Speed to 80 Speed, for example. Typo, I'm sure, but just to make sure no one else gets confused.

Hello Smogon!

Here's my simple question... in this moment I am reading the B/W StrategyDex, and I've found this in Porygon's analysis... Remember that, in the event of a double switch, priority depends on the Pokemon who are switching out; the faster Pokemon switches out first.

And what if Trick Room's in effect, who's switching first!? The slower, or the faster!?

just tested it on PO, and at least on the sim it does invert the switching order.

Two questions about Fury Cutter:
1. Is its base power cap still 160?
2. Does it get the Technician boost if its base power doubles enough to exceed 60?

1. Yes
2. No

Fury Cutter is my favorite move so I have all of its information retained :P

Oh so in case you are wondering: Scizor enjoys the Technician boost at first but Escavalier has the strongest Fury Cutter overall and they both learn Swarm

when id RU suspect testing starting? also are we gonna have NU?
RU suspect testing will happen starting sometime after this round ends, if there's even anything to test. As for when this round ends, it'll happen sometime after technical issues are resolved, so there's currently no way to know.

NU will be made when UU stabilizes, I believe. It will definitely be made; it's just a question of when.

I was just playing the Dream World and was kicked off prematurely because of the routine scheduled maintenance. Does anyone know if my progress was saved?

Yes - You earn Dream Points as you go, and any pokemon you wished for at the tree of dreams will be there when you get back.

Just curious:

How did they calculate OU for the current B/W dex? I used a system similar to what

http://www.smogon.com/articles/tiers

lists earlier on, and I came out with a rather different OU of 53 pokemon, instead of the 52 that Smogon has in the dex.

Notable differences are my exclusion of:
Whimsicott (with only P=3.01002917) and
Porygon2 (with only P=3.29195833)

And my inclusions of:
Espeon (with P=6.20505833),
Celebi (with P=4.77975417), and
Mamoswine (with P=4.18650417)

Which missed or overcame my calculated cutoff value (3.34166697). I even double-checked that I had taken Garchomp out of the calculations correctly, and came out with the same answers.

Did the Smogon calculations not use June statistics? Did they use some stats that haven't been released yet? Are my calculations just off for some reason? Or are they using a different method to the above now?

What are the set up sweepers in OU with the best individual coverage?
Please exclude any water or dragon types.

Terrakion has great coverage with just its stab moves, the standard double boosting sweeper (swords dance, rock polish, close combat, stone edge) can 1-2hko every Pokemon in the game.

Rock polish\swords dance Landorus can work as well with stone edge-EQ-hp ice.

Nasty plot Thundurus has great coverage too with: thunderbolt-hp ice-focus blast.

They used April stats. There were 53 guys, but Chomp was banned and hence there are now 52.

BTW, Blaziken was banned pre-stats iirc.
