So yeah it's fine. Also something to remember is, if you didn't hack on your game, then you haven't hacked on your game. Pretty simple really. Lol this reminds me of the time my roommate came home incredibly drunk believing he'd been bum raped. "I THINK I'VE BEEN BUM RAPED" "Well did someone bum you?" "No" "There you go then you haven't been bum raped" lol. He even tried calling the police at one point to report it, after asking what their number was, had to take his phone off him. And yeah he honestly believed he had, even after sobering up (he hadn't been out of my sight all night lol).
This is why you shouldn't drink, kids.

You are going to be ICBB again very soon.

If you catch or hatch a Pokemon in a area that hasn't be officially released, it may come up as being hacked. I'm not sure if this information is carried across generations or not. It's best to just not use glitches.

Lol Kin that was relevant though, it's the same principle. Besides, this is the VGC forum, everyone has a sense of humour it's okay.

But yeah the info on where a Pokémon's caught doesn't work cross-generationally cause they don't have the locations stored. It's just like, "Came from Sinnoh/Johto" or whatever. A glitched Darkrai is completely indistinguishable from an evented one to a hackchecker. And while a person would be able to manually look at a Darkrai in a hacking program and see if it came from D/P or Pt (since the event was only from Pt and the glitch only JP D/P), hackcheckers and especially not the official VGC ones don't look for this kind of thing. They're all about egg move legality, EV total, and xp points adding up. That kind of thing. And also sometimes hacked items in the bag; these are all the DQ types I'm aware of. Examples of each:

Illegal egg moves: Worlds 2010 Weavile had fake out but wasn't hatched, DQed a few people

EV total: YOU!!! KINNEAS LOL having 512 EVs or so on a hacked pokemon is quite common and gets people DQed most often

Xp points not adding up: Again when hacks have their level changed the xp total isn't immediately matched with the level until they're put in the box or something. This was how it worked with Gen IV anyway, a couple people DQed this way.

and hacked items: this is very rare but poor Min Datoo got DQed in 2009 for having a hacked grass knot TM, which was a pretty dick ass reason. This is the only time I've been aware of this

Also again in 2009 a guy called Luigi got DQed for having two lum berries on his teamsheet after the staff noticed at top 16 rofl. Poor kid. But this is moot now since we don't have teamsheets any more.

As you can see most of the issues with rulebreaking and shitty DQs were in 2009, with a couple in 2010. None really this year cause it's done ingame through the tournament system.

AND A COUPLE OF BOTTOM LINES:

1: If it works on random wifi you're good to go since the hack check is the same as the ingame one for this
and
2: If you're unsure about anything just don't hack, you dumb bell end

If you can't use Darkrai or Dark Void what does it matter?
The problem, as I understand it, is that he got a Darkrai through a glitch and then transferred it to his B/W game, and he wants to make sure that having it on the cartridge won't DQ him.

These. Mods, please don't delete this as "advising people about how to hack"; I'm sure many trainers have butchered their teams just because of paranoia about their perfectly legit Pokemon getting them disqualified because they, I don't know, got rare-candied in another cart that had hacked rare candies (Yes, I've heard this as a concern). Answers like Zog's don't make people cheat, they let people go into a tournament with a Thundurus or something from somebody else that they could not get alone without the unnecessary and time-wasting fear of disqualification. I am personally very glad that someone IRL told me, prior to VGC2011, not to worry about a Tornadus someone traded to me after having been RNG'd on an emulator, because I got to actually train and be productive without my whole training being colored by the worry that I would just be disqualified.

I want to clarify as well: I don't mean people should be allowed to advise others on how to hack as much as possible within the boundaries of the hack checker. I don't approve of people saying "Use (code) to make your team, I used it and I got through the hack checker just fine." But saying things like "You can rest easy if you found out one of your team members is an emulator-RNG'd Pokemon, it will get through" is much different. Things that Smogon allows us to do in the first place shouldn't be so taboo, and comments whose intent is obviously to quell worrying rather than promote cheating should not be frowned upon.

It doesn't matter what's used on other parts of this website. We have a policy of not asking or explaining about how the hack checker works on the VGC board. If you have to ask, that means you probably shouldn't be doing it.

If that's the way it is, that's the way it is. I suppose in time people will naturally come to figure out what is and isn't passable and the questions will vanish anyway.

To get back on topic, then: Does anyone have an opinion on a good mixed EV spread for Infernape?

What's the best nature for a bulky Latias on a rain team? I'm thinking of using something like Draco Meteor, Thunder, Safeguard, Recover / Rain Dance. I don't think I'll need the Speed boost from a Timid nature (but could use a second opinion on this), so I'm probably looking at Modest, Bold, or Calm, but am not sure which.

Here is how i run my Latias:
Bold-252 Speed, 252 HP, 6 Sp.Def
Calm Mind, Recover, Twister (HGSS tutor), Psychic/Psyshock @ Kings rock

Since it is doubles, twister + Kings rock has decent flinch rate. Calm Mind & Recover for survivability. Psychic/Psyshock for obvious reasons.

King's Rock and Twister's flinch don't stack.

Yeah, and it also says Rock Slide doesn't get boosted by King's Rock. There's no reason King's Rock should boost one flinch move and not another. Either both are boosted or neither is - and King's Rock effect is supposed to apply to moves that do not have a preexisting side effect.

I wish I could give a more definitive answer, like info on some "King's Rock" flag saying which moves are boosted and which aren't. Unfortunately, not even veekun seems to be helpful in that regard.

In any case, if you're going to abuse flinch, at least use a move that actually deals decent damage. Go with Terrakion Rock Slide; the flinch chance is better (not factoring in misses), and the damage is almost double that of Twister.

Right now we are talking about a bulky latias. Twister is a good option in my opinion.

As for kings rock, it is even listed on smogon as working with moves that have a flinching effect:
http://www.smogon.com/dp/items/kings_rock
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/List_of_moves_that_cause_flinching

So unless the mechanics for kings rock/razor fang have changed - it DOES increase the chance for flinch.

if youre banking on a flinch from a weak dragon move, good luck

basically this. Just run dragon pulse if you still want to CM boost which imo is stupid. The only pkmn that should be boosting is cresselia, and even then this meta is pretty fast, and has many powerful physical attackers.

What does the weakness of a move have to do with the flinch? If you're saying that his chances of winning is small due to him winning is dependent on his luck, then you're correct.

Also, Bulbapedia states that Rock Slide does not get a boost from King's Rock however Twister does.

One last thing, if you're using a bulky Latias, I don't think Twister and a King's Rock are appropriate for it. You're using a Bold nature which alone takes away from it's speed. I'd recommend something else, maybe something like a Leftovers? That of course depends on how long on average your Latias can stay on the field.

yeah im saying he can just use a stronger move like dragon pulse and not worry about how lucky he gets, rather than using a weaker move like twister and hoping for some luck.
