Honestly with Masters at 1024 spots and Seniors not including anyone over the age of 16, you should be fine to get there like half an hour before registration if even that.

Last year at the NJ regional, we must of showed up for juniors only half an hour before they started registering and we still made it. Although I still don't recommend doing that.

Can someone from Seattle answer the following questions?

1. How exactly was the tournament run? (Example from last year is: Line up, register and get your team sheet checked, battle 4 rounds, finalist lounge, hack check / lunch break, Top 64/32 Battle until the end, etc.)

2. How many people showed up for each division?

3. How were hack checks done? (Not asking for specifics, rather if they took your game cart and had a external device like last year)

4. I know they used the Battle Box and stuff, but how exactly do you do that?

5. What time did Juniors / Seniors end?

Sorry for the amount of questions and if some have been answered, I'm just very curious. Thanks in advance :)

It went like this:
1. Line up in the first line.
2. They handed out registration tickets to competitors in line.
3. At the front of the line, you download the competition rules and your Battle Box is locked. No team sheet required this year.
4. You line up in a second line to enter the competition area. Like last year, you advance to the next area if you win. In Seattle, you needed 3 wins to reach the finalist lounge.
5. Hack check/lunch break here. I don't know if there is also hack checking done at initial registration as well or not. They definitely do a more through one here.
6. Bye cards are handed out as needed.
7. Last 6 rounds are run.

Juniors and Seniors are done in parallel. The different areas have a black area and a white area one is used for Juniors and the other for Seniors. Masters used both areas.

2. How many people showed up for each division?

119 Juniors
192 Seniors
331 Masters

3. How were hack checks done? (Not asking for specifics, rather if they took your game cart and had a external device like last year)

I didn't catch any on the spot hack checked. During the break they take your game card and do a hack check but I didn't see what exactly they did. I think they put it in a DS and did something to see if there were hacked Pokemon or not.

4. I know they used the Battle Box and stuff, but how exactly do you do that?

You go the the PC and put 6 Pokemon in your Battle Box. They are automatically used when you battle using the competition rules. There are instructions all over the place on what to do at the event if you forget.

5. What time did Juniors / Seniors end?

12:25pm for Seniors. A bit before that for Juniors since they did the Junior final just before the Senior Final. Masters ended at around 5pm.

1. We had around 300 some competitors, so they decided to do 3 rounds then the finalists lounge. Once you qualified for finals, you had as long as it took for everyone else to finish to eat lunch. If you were last to qualify, you literally only had like 5 or 10 minutes before they wanted to start the top 64/32. Hack check is after round 3, and yes they do check to see if you have any pokemon not hatched from eggs with egg moves, someone in front of me in line was disqualified for that. So, bottom line, don't cheat.

3. Hack check is done by forcibly removing your game from your DS whether it is turned on or not (that's how they did it to me, dunno about everyone else). They plug it into an external device to check for hacks, then seal your game in a plastic bag for the later rounds so you can't add hacked pokemon after the check.

4. Battle box is located at the Pokemon Center PC just about anywhere. Place 6 pokemon into the special battle box, and done. It's really that simple. They will check those pokemon only, so do this either while you are in line waiting or before you show up or you hold up everyone else behind you.

5. Juniors and seniors ended at around 12:20. If there are vastly more competitors than at Seattle, expect around another half hour to herd the cats around.

EDIT: ZOMG, BEATED

Can I unlock my battle box?

I participated at the Seattle VGC this year and I haven't been able to take my pokemon out of the battle box. I guess I missed that part.

From the main menu when you initially start up the game go to Battle Competition. You're looking for the "cancel participation" option. I think you need to go to "local event" and then from there you can cancel participation.

I want to lead with the whimiscott + Terrakion combo, but don't know which other 2 I should use for (great) coverage.

how would Thundurus + Landorus (or golurk) work?

please if you have suggestions, help me out.

Thundurus would be a great backup for coverage especially for those annoying Jellicents. A Landorus would be great but a Blizzard can finish off your team rather quickly. So I would recommend maybe a Jellicent and Thundurus as a backup maybe as they both can provide excellent coverage.

Speaking of Jellicent, what EV spread does a TR Jellicent usually use? Relaxed nature, right?

I wouldn't go with Relaxed nature. Jellicent wouldn't usually get OHKOed by any physical move. Only thing it gets OHKOed by is Electric Jewel Thunderbolt. So Quiet 252 HP/252 Atk would be the best spread imo.

Can someone please give me a link to an article or video that shows me how to rng roamers? I can't seem to find any. Thanks in advance :)

1) set your search parameters to roamer and find a good seed
2) try it out in the wild (advancing your IVs 1 extra) to make sure you can hit it easily (the last 3 IVs might come out wonky unless they're 31/31/31).
3) after advancing far enough in the game to where you won't be stopped all the time, save in the cabin with EVERYTHING you'll need (masterball, other pokeballs, correct number of mons to advance your IV frame, repels to count your steps, etc)
4) try to hit your seed, and advance your IV frames, DO NOT SAVE YOUR GAME AT ALL
5) press down to walk out of the cabin door
6) IMMEDIATELY start mashing A as fast as you can, do NOT stop or slow down till you get all the way through the cutscene
7) hunt down and masterball the roamer
8) if you got the wrong IVs go back to step 4
9) if you got the right IVs, see what nature you got. if its not the nature you want, write down that nature, go back to step 4, but this time try ONE MORE save than last time
10) if it's the nature you want, go back to step 4 and repeat the EXACT same number of game saves before exiting the cabin to get the same exact nature roamer as before (same number of game saves = same nature for roamer) but this time put it in whatever pretty ball you want

It's worked for me... 5 times now in 5 runthroughs on 2 carts.

which dual genie combo is best? and what are good pokémon for backup?

and what mostly works best, Tailwind/Double Genie/Trickroom/Whimiscott + Terrakion?

I have really a hard time to build a team, maybe someone has a guide or someone can help me? then please PM me.

Actually, this is what's bothering me at the moment - isn't there some sort of guide to what the nature of this metagame is like? Just by playing people on P-O and seeing some of Seattle's videos, you can pretty much gauge what's hot and what's not, but this could be discussed in a thread, surely?

From what i've gathered so far, the "OU" list consists of:

Thundurus - Prankster, Taunt, Thunder Wave, High Offense
Tornadus - Prankster, Taunt, Tailwind, Acrobat
Whimsicott (TR) - Prankster, Taunt, Beat Up, Endeavor, Trick Room
Amoongus (TR) - Spore, Rage Powder, High Defense, Earthquake/Water Spout resistance
Hydreigon - High offense, Earthquake immunity, Surf
Jellicent (TR) - Ghost typing, Water Spout, Walling, Trick Room
Terrakion - Beat Up recipient, Rock Slide
Mienshao - Fake Out, Inner Focus, Rock Slide, High Offense
Scrafty (TR) - Fake Out, Rock Slide, Good coverage, High offense
Reuiniclus (TR) - Trick Room, Offense and Defense
Chandelure (TR) - Heat Wave, Trick Room, Taunt
Landlos - Earthquake, Earthquake immunity
Haxorus - High Offense, Earthquake

(TR) indicates pokemon that can take advantage of Trick Room.

There seems to be a definite Ghost-Fighting-Dark aspect this metagame, from what I can see. Many of the pokemon seem to revolve around this type or counter it somehow.

seems pretty good; might want to include druddgion? for tr

There is definitely the Ghost-Fighting-Dark thing going on. It is a necessity to counter Grass as well, because Amoonguss is an absolute killer if you do not have anything to check it immediately.
