Archeops is taken out too easily. And with a hindering ability like that, I doubt it's worth a mention imo.

Actually, Archeops is very effective when used correctly. It gets STAB on Acrobatics and Rock Slide, making it a near counter to both Amoonguss without Coba and Tornadus, as well as Thundurus in Tailwind. Yeah, Defeatist hurts it, but with STAB on two great moves in VGC, you shouldn't blow it off.

1. If you trade completely legit pokes from a hacked cartridge to a completely clean cartridge, will the cheeckers pick it up?
2. Which ability is better for Roopushin in VGC, Sheer Force or Guts?

I don't know mattj, the guts boost is pretty significant. Also, you'll be healing most of the damage back with Drain Punch anyway. In addition, Rock Slide is Conkeldurr's only move that's boosted by sheer force.

You're indeed correct. However, if not used correctly it can prove ineffective. I would choose a Terrakion over it just because Archeops is somewhat situational.

The only way to get beat up on whimsicott is to breed from someone in the Shiftry line through a Weavile, right?
Basically what's the best way to go about seeing a Shiftry/Nuzleaf/Seedot so I can maybe search for one on the GTS. Can anyone help me out?

Smeargle and Houndour/Houndoom also work for the first step, I believe. You can find Seedot in White Forest; Black is out of luck as far as I know.

It does have a number of advantages: namely, OHKO on Amoonguss (regardless of whether or not it has Coba Berry), non-defensive Jellicent, non-defensive Terrakion (which you outspeed), and tons of other things with Flight Gem Acrobatics. They don't really handle the same things so I wouldn't call them equivalent.

OHKO on Amoonguss (regardless of whether or not it has Coba Berry),

I don't know about this. I have all the reason in the world to believe that Archeops is powerful, since it's pivotal to my team, but I've used Gem-boosted Acrobatics on an Amoonguss on PO and seen it survive. Didn't see if it had a Coba though, and I don't have a damage calc handy to find out.

I'm wondering, if I already have a fighting-type with Rock Slide on my team, is Tornadus just generally better than Archeops? This is NOT a Tailwind team I'm theorizing on, by the way.

Seems to me the best use of Rock Slide has just been to get some damage on the opponents and possibly net a flinch, rather than looking for any KOs. It depends whether you want Rock Slide to be tearing teams apart or just piling on the additional damage, in which case i'd be checking tosee what damage Archeops can do.

I have both a Conkeldurr and Scrafty with Rock Slide on my team, it's quite a good move I think, and Wide Guard is less used than I expected.

I don't believe that a Flight Gem boosted Acrobatics from an Archeops OHKOs a Coba Berry Amoonguss. I tried Tornadus Flight Gem boosted Acrobatics on Coba Berry Amoonguss and it leaves it with ~40% left. I doubt one from Archeops would kill. Feel free to go ahead and do some damage calculations.

Also, your right. It wasn't entirely correct for me to compare the two, however I was actually just comparing their rock-type capabilities.

I bolded that because I just wanted to mention my experiences versus Archeops in the tourney. I was able to counter it relatively easily because I lead with Thundurus every time I saw it on someones' team. If they Taunted me with their partner to prevent me setting up Tailwind, they ate a Electric Gem boosted Discharge the next.

It also is not resistant to Conkeldurr's Mach Punch, which is almost always boosted with Guts. After a Charm even, it gets dangerously close to Defeatist range from that hit.

I am thinking more and more that, just like last year, priority is king this year. Every team I saw had a significant amount of priority, which seemed to work extremely well. Even Quick Attack Terrakion gave me problems!
In addition, Rock Slide is Conkeldurr's only move that's boosted by sheer force.

I didn't see a single person use a move on Conkeldurr besides Mach Punch, Drain Punch, Protect or Rock Slide the entire tourney. I know it has more moves, but those are the bread and butter. It doesn't need anything else at all to succeed.

I hate to ask this but is there any way that someone help me out with some pokemon. I have no idea how to use the rng and two of the pokemon on my team need hidden power and one is even legendary so its even harder to get. If anyone know of someone giving out pokemon or is willing to take to time to get it would be great.

Hidden Power is pretty useless in a double battle, I've had like 150 practice VGC battles on PO, I've seen maybe 1 person use any Hidden Power. And RNG'ing might be seen as hacking, so just go with the best ivs you can get.

my sister's nickname on Black is *God*, would that be counted as an offensive nickname?

I have no true idea, but the VGC people will probably find it offensive.

NONONONONONONONONONONONO

RNGing is not hacking, it is completely legal. Hidden Power Ice and Flying are two quite common Hidden Powers used, mostly on Thundurus, Eelektross, or Galvantula. RNGing is very useful, and in some cases is the dividing line between two players of equal skill. In any case, it will be substantially more difficult to get Pokemon that will actually win you matches at the higher rounds if you don't RNG. I can't help you, Werecario, but I want to make sure it's obvious that RNGing is absolutely the best way to go unless you have no other option. If you really need the Pokemon though, muffinhead's VGC trade thread is giving Pokemon away for free. There are probably others, but muffinhead's is the only one I know.

Was it meant in an offensive manner? Will the person who uses the cart at the regionals use it to disrespect others' religion? If no, then it's probably fine.

RNGing for IVs is really easy this generation; you can probably pick it up quite quickly. You only have to be within one second now to get flawless IVs.

Hidden Power may not be as useful in the VGC environment due to not as many quad-weaknesses among its most common Pokemon, but I've definitely seen at least three Thundurus with HP Flying. And while I'm sure you meant VGC2011 matches when you said "double battles" in the first line, just in case, I must emphasize that Hidden Power is very important in general double battles. I never make a team for Free Mode that doesn't contain HP Ice, for instance.

You won't get pulled out if you RNG'd Pokemon unless you tampered with your cart using an AR or something comparable. RNGing is just the method of, for example, finding the needle in the haystack faster. It isn't important to Gamefreak how you found the needle (It would only be a problem if the specific method of getting your needle were part of the rules, but it isn't). What is important is that you didn't say "To hell with this" and went and manufactured another needle. This might annoy somebody's sense of ethics since the two sound a lot alike, but the point is: We're going to get as close to the fence as we can without actually crossing it. If Gamefreak says "No Pokemon with 31 in ANY stat," we're going to get Pokemon with 30/30/30/30/30/30. (Okay, awkward examples DONE)

Of course, I don't know if that's exactly Nintendo's attitude towards RNGing, so I may be wrong. The only thing I'm 100% certain about is that you will get by with RNG'd pokemon, and that you will be at at least a small disadvantage if you don't have Pokemon with comparable stats unless you have a much better strategy than someone else (And I don't think, towards the end of the tournament, that anyone will have a team so much more strategic than his opponent that his Pokemon won't be at a disadvantage by having bad stats).

EDIT: Gah, double-ninja'd.

I asked Pokémon Support about RNG, and here's the response I got:
Random number generator manipulation is not in the spirit of the competition, and is not an ethical practice. However, the results it produces conform to what is possible within the game, without the use of an external device, so it is permitted.
So yes, it is allowed, and it's really the only way to be competitive unless you have hundreds of hours to spend breeding/SRing the hard way.

If your only doing 1 Pokemon, breeding isn't that bad with power items and Everstone. However if your planning on doing several guys, RNGing is the best way to do it.

Question for guys that RNG. For non-cgear abuse for wild pokemons, after you get your initial seed and all that stuff and advance the frame by 128 steps + the number of pokemons in your party, do you just like walk in the grass and encounter the Pokemon? Or, will that like mess up the RNG? I'm really puzzled about that.
