I know for atlanta; I was in line around 10 a.m. and there were about 100 in front of me. By 1:00 there were 651 people total in line......

One of my biggest weaknesses at the moment are Scarfed Giratina, does anyone have any advice on dealing with them. They out speed my Weavile which is the fastest on my team so I have to use my Kyogre to try and soak shadow force and catch it with a night slash and Blizzard when it comes out. The only problem with this is I end up almost 100% of the time losing Kyogre in the process. The rest of my team is a Palkia and Abomasnow.

not sure if this is the right spot but can i create a thread for those who want to do practice battles for the VGC here?

there is already a thread for practice battles in WiFi portion. but its better if you can get in iRC[its a chatroom ] or pokemon online is good too

A question for both UU battlers and NU battlers,

What speed should an explosion based (non choiced) Skuntank hit in NU? And what speed in UU? Jolly 252 isn't outspeeding much of note, and I'm hesitant to make him adamant with no speed investment. Skuntank has room for bulk, I don't want to waste EVs on speed I don't need.

Yeah, you might want to try http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70306 for that question? I think that's the most appropriate place to ask...that or look at http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/skuntank and while I claim no expertise in NU/UU, the analysis seems to say "260 beats neutral natured base 80 Speed Pokémon. You can use Jolly and aim for 290 to out run the base 95 Speed group, assuming they don't have a boosting nature. Max Attack with the remaining in HP."

This thread is for VGC questions and answers ^_^

Ack, thank you very much for pointing that out. I just clicked on the first "simple questions simple answers" thread I saw, I didn't even know there was a VGC version.

where is the iRC chatroom located? and im not finding where the thread is for the wifi portion for practice vgc battles...

here is the link for the "Wifi" portion on smogon. http://www.smogon.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=53
and here is the "battle me" thread link where you can request battles
http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72931

and as for iRC, here is the link that will introduce you to it, sum it up as well as help you get started, http://www.smogon.com/irc/

PLEASE make sure to read the rules for both the wifi/battle me options as well as the iRC option. last thing i want is to send you into getting baned :). but dont worry you have to do something pretty big to get baned

Ahh yeah, addind to Serendipity's question

Notebooks with some calcs that we have to warry about, or an iphone to look up some calcs quickly?

Canadians are allowed to play in this tournament, as well as Mexicans and citizens of any other country for that matter. The tournaments held in the United States require only that the player own a NA version of HG/SS, and nothing more. The 10th anniversary tournaments were US only, but these World Championships have always included other countries.

Oh ok thanks

I am curious, what is the standard EV's given to an Abomasnow? I want to know what I will be up against in Newark!

Always assume the worst case for your scenario but I believe most people go 252 hp / 252 spatk.

Are you allowed to take notes for your battles?

No and definitely no.

From the TPCi tournament rules:
TPCi Tournament Rules said:
7. Note Taking

Players are allowed to take notes during a game in respect to actions that have happened during the
game. Notes are restricted to game information that is public to both players
(for example, what moves a Pokémon has used during a video game match, or what Pokémon a player put in his or her hand after a Bebe’s Search during a TCG match).

Players must be timely with their note taking and may not use devices that may send or receive messages as a note taking device. A player may not refer to notes taken during previous rounds while the tournament is still in progress. Notes taken during a match may not be given to other players during the course of the tournament. While a match is in progress, the notes taken by a player are considered public information to that player, his or her opponent, and the tournament staff. As such, the use of codes, ciphers, abbreviations, or any other method of obscuring the meaning of the information is not permitted. Additionally, notes taken by a player may not contain misinformation, intended to deceive an opponent or the tournament staff.

I got this reply from Mike Liesek in response to my concern about suspected cheaters during a match and about when more than 768 show up before 1pm:

1. Per the tournament regulations, "A player should notify the staff immediately if he or she believes that there is a problem with an opponent's Pokémon. At the end of the round, all match results become final. Issues that go unreported until after the round has completed will not change the result of that match, regardless of whether there is a problem with an opponent's Pokémon."

2. As a first-come, first-served event, only the first 768 people in line will be permitted to register for the tournament.

you know i've always thaught that when they said "at the end of the round" that they mean when the match is over but before the staff circles a win/loss on your cards. because if you call a hack check during the battle and your opponent passes the check. then you are stuck in a rematch situation where you know his strat and its very unfair especially if he was winning. let me know if my assumption is wrong and that you literally have to stop a battle for the hack check to affect results, and if soo what is the procedure if he passes the check.

Sorry of this has l ready been asked, but does the VGC leval down your pokemon? For exemple, could i enter my leval 55 ttair, and his leval would be decressed ( battle frontier style)? Thanks
