This will happen to pretty much every poke I draw, I find the images to be much more lively in that fashion.

Abomasnow's expression is amazing. I don't think it likes being made to pose...

Love the variations in style, shows how talented you are as an artist, not just as a comic writer.
 
really love all your updates this round! I'm particularly enjoying Abomasnow's expression and Galvantula's color scheme - how on earth are you getting it to look both so cohesive and so contrasted?!

also, are you going to account for the sticking-out-of-the-boxes parts when you put the whole thing together? I can't really picture what you're going to do about that - it's gonna be a shame to have to hide parts of other pictures, but I'm sure you'll think of something (if you haven't already).

Dunno.

Although I do abuse the color sampler, where I either try to re-use colors in the backgrounds or shades, or I'll try to pick a color which suits the ones I've already used. But most of the time I just go with the color of the pokémon in question and the color representing the type. It's all fun and games!

The boxes won't stand side to side, so on that note, my meme won't be an exact copy of Aqua's original one. But it gives me an extra dimension and some bonus room to visualise them, so hey, if this is cheating then I'll gladly be branded as one ahaha.

To illustrate how things will be organised in the full picture, here's two pokes intimidating each other:

DARK: Tyranitar, "Gojira"
DRAGON: Garchomp, "Jawesome"

Sort of on the fence whether or not I should flesh out Garchomp a bit with lighting and stuff, but I like how he looks now. It works.

garchomp looks really good as is but I'd say go ahead and flesh him out just so he fits with the others, he looks so out of place atm!

but i love the multilayered lighting on tyranitar, very spectacular
 
Noctowl looks pretty good, but it slightly reminds me of a certain owl from Zelda for some reason...think you could replace the moon with the Majora's Mask moon?
 
I like Chomp a lot but I feel like you should flesh him out a bit, at least in the end with all the other guys being more detailed.

Oooor you could unflesh out the others ones to fit Jawesome!

That would be Kaepora Gaebora. I've actually named my Noctowl that before, but I wanted to settle for something which just a name stolen from a game. But the likelyness is only because both are owls and share the same color palette, so yeah.

While I did say I was thinking about it, my final verdict is that it stays as it is. I usually don't satisfy by filling in the colors and then calling it quits, but with this one I do, so that's gotta count for something. And I wouldn't worry about him looking out of place, being different is the only way to fit in.

Tyranitar's texture/painting style is simply amazing..
It's sharp but smooth style really gives it a.. realistic-like look.. I don't realy know how to describe what I mean

Anyway, are those multiply layers or just really precise painting and color choice?
 
Glad to see you're doing the type meme! Usually when you post RCT, everyone is busy laughing and thinking 'that's so true', but these are perfect showcases of your artistic talent. (And your taste in Pokémon!) Your colour and lighting are fantastic and the Pokémon just leap out of the frames at the viewer.

I do use several layers, but the part you're speaking of was probably caused by a dark brush on low opacity. Instead of picking a specific color to make a solid shade, I now prefer to brush around until I'm content with it. Although it takes more precision as strokes which overlap each other will enhance in effect.
 
man I am really impressed by this series so far

noctowl and steelix especially, love all of those small shapes in noctowl's shadow and digging those quadrelaterals/polygons in steelix, so boss

I am also a big fan of your hand-drawn typography stuff in your strips, love those nav icons on your site & your logo... man haha I think you'd make for an awesome logo designer if you decided to go that route!

Also, the garchomp pic is funny because it reminds me of some kind of a foreign political ad or propaganda, "EL GARCHOMP or la MUERTE!" lol X D
 
That Steelix is so rad, man. I agree with Zracknel, those polygons on Steelix are awesome. Can't wait for the next types.

It depends on how complex I make things or whether or not I need to redo a background and lighting, but something around 1-2 hours I guess.

I fix up the lineart before I bring it into the "work area" where all the other finished types are, which is 6000x7000 pixels in size. So since everything is so big, I can work at 100% zoom, but if I want to fix some tiny details then I just go deeper. Otherwise, when I fill in colors with the Magic Wand or brush some shades I work between 25-50%, since I want to access the whole image or do bigger strokes.

But most of that is self-explanatory, but it's thanks to my new computer that I can work in these dimensions, my old laptop would have surrendered right away ahaha.

However, all of my strips are made in such a size that the finished strip can just be shrunk to 25% and then saved as a .png. So if you wonder about the original dimensions of them, just take the one you see multiplied with 16.

I write most of it with the Glenn's hand font, but when something requires something more fancy I write it by hand, although I need to polish it up with the eraser afterwards to give it better edges. But I made my logos with the pencil tool, with my own sketches as a guide. Been a while since I've done that, I should get some new logos made since I'm thinking of removing and adding some new directories.

Speaking of my webcomic, I almost forgot to make the next strip. Go figure.
