E3 2013 | RETR-oh no....

Yes they do... Not planning your game with DLC in mind is just poor planning. The same applies to any product. You should have a roadmap past launch to best design your product...

Sometimes DLCs are good and do what they are meant to do: provide additional content to increase the lifespan of the game. (see: Sleeping Dogs)

And sometimes it also causes companies to be dicks and hold back content that was already ready and was supposed to be in the game and then offer them as 'DLC' (see: SFxT ON-FUCKING-DISC 'DLC')

My point is if you have legitimate content in development post release then sure DLC rocks, otherwise it's just a way to sell games for $80-$100.

I first saw it and was all "ugh, bikes", but it looks like they've changed them around a bit? Making it more similar to karts? I really didn't like the "one boost/wheelie system" as I thought it just kind of created a snaking-type skill gap. This looks to be more like mario kart 7 on wii u, which is cool. Also, the stage rotates?????

The san fransisco stage looks awesome

What do you guys think about Watchdogs? It seems good, but I feel I's rather go for Grand Theft Auto.

I had the exact same feel when I watched the trailer. At first I thought the thing with the electronics was pretty cool, but I dunno. I feel like it'll be more limited than I hope to use it, although this is just based on first impressions. Who knows, I may end up loving it (thank god it's coming out for the Wii U, I'm not shelling out more money for an XBone, although I may buy a PS4).

Watch Dogs is another game continuing the disturbing trend of AAA titles moving focus completely away from gameplay. Sure, you can interact with stuff with your phone (although phone stuff is basically point-and-click) and the environment is very dynamic...but then you get to the most boring cover-based shootout ever and no one says a thing because "oh man that background character is in mourning". The things that make video games special are gameplay, and to sacrifice that for anything else is a disgrace to the medium.

watchdogs seems pretty cool and a neat concept
[and i can totally see it bringing up the moral dilemma - is it truly ideal to incorporate technology into every aspect of our lives when it can be taken advantage of so easily?]

but honestly nothing has really wowed me at e3 so i prolly wouldn't get a new console just for that you know?

I have incredibily nostalgic moments with GTA, personally, I think rockstar is one of the best. Watchdogs seemed a little Out of humour, Gta always has the usual tongue in cheek humor. Anyways, I cannot trust Ubisoft that much. I really biased, in fact I'm playing gta right now.

I'm looking forward to Watch_Dogs, the premise really interests me. I was gonna pick up the Wii U version but I found out my brother is planning to get the PC version, so I might just play that.

I think it's funny that Mario Kart has introduced the antigravity thing.
Crash Nitro Kart did that two generations ago, right down to the wheels turning sideways
Mario Kart has started ripping off its ripoffs

They already took the air boosts and made drifting more like Crash Team Racing. They had the wumpa fruits in Mario Kart DS. And why wouldn't they? Crash Team Racing is still the best cart racer ever made.

Anyways, I cannot trust Ubisoft that much.

you can't? Ubisoft is responsible for Assassin's Creed (which is a series I personally hate, but is undeniably a massive success), Far Cry 2, which was also utterly fantastic, and Far Cry 3, which was similarly stellar. Not to mention Driver, Rainbow Six (and a host of other Tom Clancy titles), etc. Ubisoft isn't as utterly fantastic or consistent as some developers, but they're hardly terrible.

Watch_Dogs is similar to GTA in that it takes place in a large, open-world city, but the similarities seem to end there. GTA is essentially a massive satire of society - it pokes a lot of fun at aspects of urban life. It is not a serious game by any standard, it's designed to let you run around, blow shit up, crash cars, and engage in other assorted antics. Watch_Dogs also seems like it's setting up for a massive social commentary (even moreso now, in the wake of PRISM being made public) and an interesting, well-crafted, morally ambiguous storyline.

Setting up Watch_Dogs as a direct competitor to GTA is sort of missing the forest for the trees.

Thank God people actually recognize this as truth. CTR is so fucking good.

Who ever thought Xbox one was a good idea, has their privates named after the company.

All in seriousness, Microsoft is just trying to start controversy. Same way how grand theft auto became one of the best selling games.
