sorry aquatic
Pokemon: Grapploct
Type: Water / Fighting
Abilities: Technician | Poison Heal
Stats: 115 / 118 / 90 / 70 / 80 / 42
Added Moves: Aqua Jet, Toxic
Justification: I fail to see how regenerator at all synergizes with Octolock, so I instead am going with Poison Heal, which both has flavor (octopi are often venomous) and works great with trapping+outlasting opponents. Just trap stuff on more passive teams and eventually win

Sandaconda [Optimized]
Abilities: Shed Skin / Sand Spit / Sand Force
Stats: 82 / 107 / 125 / 65 / 90 / 75 (544 BST)
Added Moves: Recover, Whirlwind
Summary of Changes: +10 HP, +20 Special Defense, +4 Speed
By giving it a bit more speed and more special defense, as well as actual recovery in Recover and other utility in Whirlwind, Sandaconda becomes a better version of its former self. Combine this with a better defensive typing in Ground / Dragon that mitigates its weakness to Dracovish and gives it more resistances to work with, and Sandaconda basically becomes a better version of itself. Sandaconda isn't broken as Dracovish can still break through it, and special attackers like Hydreigon and Clefable can overpower it, so make sure to bring teammates that can help Sandaconda deal with them.

Coalossal [Optimized]
Abilities: Steam Engine (Now adds an immunity to Water-type moves) / Flame Body / Flash Fire
Stats: 110 / 100 / 130 / 80 / 100 / 30 (550 BST)
Added Moves: Recover
Summary of Changes: +20 Attack, +10 Defense, +10 Special Defense
The new stat buffs given to it, despite not helping too much, make Coalossal much less passive and a tad bit bulkier on both sides, making it much harder to KO on both sides (unless your name is Excadrill). Steam Engine now granting an immunity to Water-type attacks somewhat remedies its poor defensive typing and makes it so that Dracovish can't OHKO it from full HP, though it still can die to super effective attacks from the likes of Excadrill, balancing it out.
Next slate is a small one, but one I wanted to do for a long time

A P P L E M E T A

The apples suck in OU.

Appletun isn't as useful as it would like, and is incredibly passive against Steel and Fairy types which litter OU. Not to mention several threats break past it.

Flapple is just a poor sweeper. The hardest hitting Outrage in the game doesn't help if it can't touch Steel types, it's very frail and hard to set up and is easily revenge killer even if it manages to get to +1 anyways.

Optimize these boys!

T.I.A.

formerly Ticktock

Flapple [Optimized]
Abilities: Ripen / Gluttony / Hustle
Stats: 75 / 110 / 90 / 95 / 80 / 100 (550 BST)
Added Moves: Superpower, Earthquake, Dragon Claw, Roost, Smart Strike
Summary of Changes: +5 HP, +10 Defense, +20 Special Defense, +30 Speed

Appletun [Optimized]
Abilities: Ripen / Gluttony / Thick Fat
Stats: 115 / 85 / 100 / 120 / 100 / 30 (550 BST)
Added Moves: Flamethrower, Calm Mind, Earth Power, Sludge Bomb, Dragon Tail
Summary of Changes: +5 HP, +20 Defense, +20 Special Attack, +20 Special Defense

That didn't need much. Flapple got more speed and a tad more bulk, as well as gaining important coverage to get over its mono coverage. Appletun got better bulk and Special Attack, helping to improve its lack of offensive presence, and more coverage and Calm Mind to solidify that role. They don't deserve new abilities, because they're fine by their own standards. Flapple also gets Roost because its other one gets recovery. Smart Strike as well for Fairy-types and to not miss with Hustle. Appletun gets Sludge Bomb for Fairies and Dragon Tail for phazing. Forgot to realize those.

Appletun
Type: Same
Abilities: Ripen (Doubles the beneficial effect of ALL hold items)/Regenerator (Thick Fat)
Move Changes: Acid Apple Super Effectively hits Steel and Grass types.
Movepool Additions: Calm Mind, Flamethrower, Earth Power, Acid Spray, Sludge Bomb
Stats: 115/85/110/100/85/30 (Total 525)
Ripen becomes a real deal, doubling the effect of every item, even scarves, Orbs, fangs and sunglasses. Appletun gains some genuine 4mss. Calm mind patches up its lower SpDef and Recover/Leech Seed enables insane longevity. However, Flamethrower gets through certain steel types like Corviknight which don't care about Acid Apple, another viable move which is designed to make Ferrothorn your eternal bitch.

Abilities: Ripen (Doubles the beneficial effect of ALL hold items)/Adaptability (Hustle)
Move Changes: Grav Apple Super Effectively hits Steel and Flying types.
Movepool Additions: Earthquake, Fire Punch, Drain Punch, Horn Leech, Flamethrower, Fire Blast, Roost, Coil
Stats: 75/110/90/100/70/80 (Total: 525)

Ripen here is a godsend as with the Pie monster. Grav Apple exists to make Steel/Flying types cry hard, although the ability to hurt Ground/Flying and Water/Flying very hard is going to make Lando and Gliscor think twice about ever coming to Galar. Coil from its lanky body enables you to work around Hustle's limitation at the cost of speed. You could also go for Adaptability instead if you'd rather sacrifice some power on non-Stab moves.

If too extreme, Ripen will extend only to Berries and Lefties and other items that involve eating or food.

Pokemon:Flapple
Type:Grass/Dragon
Abilities:Levitate,Hustle,Ripen(HA)
Stats:70/135(+25)/105(+25)/95/60/80(+10)/580(+60)
Added Moves: Earthquake,Fire Punch,Ice Punch,Thunder Punch, and Dragon Claw
Justification:Hustle+Choice Band

Flapple [Optimized]
Abilities: Ripen / Gluttony / Hustle
Stats: 85 / 120 / 100 / 105 / 90 / 100 (600 BST)
Added Moves: Superpower, Earthquake, Rock Slide, Dragon Claw, Hone Claws
Summary of Changes: +15 HP, +10 Attack, +20 Defense, +10 Special Attack, +30 Special Defense, +30 Speed
Custom Elements: Grav Apple is now 100 BP.
Yes, its 600 BST, but for something so poor, I had too. Leaving the abilities alone since it'll just probably run Hustle, it now has a massive Speed and bulk boost, allowing it to actually use Dragon Dance properly without dying in one hit. It also gains a buffed Grav Apple, and Appletun's other coverage moves, Rock Slide to deal with Flying-types, and Dragon Claw to rely less on Outrage if it desires. Hone Claws also adds it up to fill a similar role to Durant. Thankfully, its bad defensive typing holds it back a bit, as well as lacking any super effective moves for Fairy-types.

Appletun [Optimized]
Abilities: Ripen / Gluttony / Thick Fat
Stats: 125 / 95 / 100 / 130 / 110 / 40 (600 BST)
Added Moves: Flamethrower, Focus Blast, Sludge Bomb, Calm Mind, Earth Power
Summary of Changes: +15 HP, +10 Attack, +20 Defense, +30 Special Attack, +30 Special Defense, +10 Speed
Custom Elements: Apple Acid is now 100 BP.
Well, I had to match it with the new Flapple, but it does happen to have a slightly better job as serving as a wall, but a good ol' boost was all it needed. Again, leaving the abilities alone since Thick Fat is all that it needs, but a higher bar for bulk is good as well. The boost, really is the same as Flapple, but with a higher focus on Special Attack then Speed. It also gains a few new tools to deal with its threats, like Flamethrower and Focus Blast for the Steels, Sludge Bomb for Fairies, and Earth Power for just good general coverage. Calm Mind and a buffed Apple Acid then open it up to become a Trick Room sweeper. Again, typing holds it back, but it does seem to manage well.
+1 252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Flapple Grav Apple (100 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 395-465 (100.2 - 118%) -- guaranteed OHKO

This sure is weak to fairies

In the meantime, here are some ideas for potential sets for each new Pokémon added.

Inteleon @ Choice Specs
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Ability: Infiltrator
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Hyper Voice
- Ice Beam
- U-turn

A cool choiced set for Inteleon to abuse. It makes for a very nasty Wallbreaker thanks to being able abuse the hell out of typical Water switchins with STAB Hyper Voice.

Falinks @ King's Rock
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Ability: Skill Link
Jolly Nature
- Bone Rush
- Rock Blast
- Close Combat
- No Retreat

See what Cloyster does in OU right now? Well Falinks is here to serve you up a similar dose of cancer fun! Falinks is realistically only good on Screens HO, but luckily for it Screens HO is pretty hot in OU right now. King's Rock is cheese with Skill Link (ironically) and allows the monster to chance the opportunity to muscle past its defensive counterplay.

Cramorant @ Heavy Duty Boots / Rocky Helmet
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Ability: Gulp Missile
Impish Nature
- Liquidation
- Roost
- Defog
- Toxic / Brave Bird / U-turn

While specially inclined sets will most likely be better thanks to Scald, I wanted to make a set that fully abuses the new Gulp Missile. 115/75/95 bulk is great, and the set allows it to check threats like Conkeldurr, newcomer Grapploct (if running Brave Bird) and other annoying threats. Rotoms being everywhere is a bit problematic for it, but only Rotom-Wash (arguably the worst out of the three) can switch in.

Eiscue @ Sitrus Berry
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Ability: Ice Face
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Icicle Crash
- Liquidation
- Ice Shard / Zen Headbutt

Eiscue goes from a very trash belly drummer to an inconsistent Rain sweeper! Pair it with Pelipper and get a set up opportunity on any scummy physical attacker, and Eiscue might actually pose a threat.

Perrserker @ Life Orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Ability: Tough Claws
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Bullet Punch
- Anchor Shot
- Close Combat / Knock Off

Perrserker is primarily used here to try out dual priority to revenge kill faster foes. Anchor Shot is its main STAB to deal damage with, and Close Combat hits a wide margin of other Mons for at least neutral damage. Knock Off can also go here in its stead, hitting Cram and Toxapex harder and getting rid of items. But my personal favourite set I devised is....

Perrserker @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Ability: Steely Spirit
Careful Nature
- Substitute
- Bulk Up
- Anchor Shot
- Taunt

Ultimate stallbreaker. SubTaunt allows it to beat a trapped Toxapex 1v1, as well as most other passive stallmons in general. After trapping a Mon it beats with Anchor Shot, it uses it as set up bait and basically 1v1s most stall variants.

Mr. Rime @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Screen Cleaner
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 8 SpA / 36 Spe
Bold Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Slack Off
- Freeze-Dry
- Psychic

Just it's set you can look up on Smogon, but with the added benefit of greatly boosted stats to make the set much more effective.

Cursola @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Def
Ability: Regenerator
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Power Gem
- Shadow Ball
- Recover

Pretty niche SpD rocker that also checks offensive mons like Heattom and LO Clefable, but struggles to handle alot of the other meta.

Rapidash-Galar @ Choice Specs
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Ability: Psychic Surge
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Mystical Fire
- Psyshock

Rapidash-Galar shakes team building down to its core thanks to being an offensive fairy that can nuke every potential Fairy check out of the sky. Psychic / Fire / Fairy is fantastic coverage in the metagame right now, and while its coverage (and Moonblast tbh) may leave something to desire, Psychic Surge Psychic just sends non resists to the shadow realm.

Weezing-Galar @ Black Sludge
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Ability: Levitate
Bold Nature
- Strange Steam
- Flamethrower
- Moonlight
- Defog / Will O Wisp / Toxic

If Galar Rapidash wasn't a thing, G Weezing might have been great. Right now, it's an ok defensive pick. Ever so slightly increased bulk and fire power will always help, and it gaining Moonlight is a big boon to its ability to last throughout the match.

Stunfisk-Galar @ Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Def
Ability: Water Absorb
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock / Spikes
- Spiky Shield
- Earthquake
- Spikes / Yawn / Toxic Spikes

Stunfisk-Galar's extra HP and Water Absorb allows it to check a greater number of threats than before, and moves like Spiky Shield give chip to annoying physical attackers. Yawn + protection is a cheesy but effective means of providing utility, while it can pick and choose what hazards it should run to place appropriate support for a team. Water Absorb is also something that is always considered useful for a team.

Boltund @ Choice Band
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Ability: Strong Jaw
Jolly Nature
- Hyper Fang
- Thunder Fang
- Fire Fang
- Crunch

Boltund @ Life Orb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Ability: Scrappy
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Aura Sphere
- Hyper Voice

Boltund is a mixed bag imo. It's speed tier is very cool, creeping fellow normal type Inteleon, and more importantly, allowing it to outpace Dugtrio, which invalidates most other Electric types. But the all encompassing Dragapult outpaces an nukes it out of the sky, and its paper thin bulk leaves it revenge killed by every existing form of priority after small amounts of chip. It's Choice Band set is prediction reliant due to the tier crawling with Ground and Ghost types, while Nasty Plot requires a turn of set up before it can get going, and Boltund's frail nature makes it hard to get set up opportunities. That being said, pair up the guy with anti priority and let him rip.

Eldegoss @ Assault Vest
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Ability: Regenerator
Calm Nature
- Giga Drain
- Mystical Fire
- Sludge Bomb
- Rapid Spin

Basically imagine if Tangrowth lacked Knock Off but could SPINN TO WINN, and you have Eldegoss. Defensive Grass types are almost nowhere in the metagame, so Eldegoss serves as a nice blanket tank that fills up your FWG cores. It's absolute Dragapult bait though, so if Eldegoss is your prime hazard control, make sure to pack solid Pult answers.

LMAO so I have no idea wtf this does. It has a highly optimized Belly Drum set in vanilla OU, but that would need adjustments with its brand new stats. I assume AV and regular bulky shit can be viable as well but bruh y'all gonna have to think for this boy. I task leonard (from big bang theory) to recreate the Big Chungus set with these stats in mind as well as any other potentially viable sets.

Gentle Criminal (Thievul) @ Life Orb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Ability: Sheer Force
Timid Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Nasty Plot / Parting Shot / Taunt / More Coverage / Whateever the fuck tbh

So this Mon, I believe, is the closest we have come to making a broken boi. Thievul's variety and assortment of different sets holds no bounds, and ranging from Unburden sweeper to Nasty Plot Sheer Force 3 Attacks to Stakeout Choice Specs to even SF Scarf, Thievul is pretty freaking epic. It's dual STAB is amazing coverage on its own, hitting everything in OU for neutral coverage save for three Mons, which are all hit super effectively by Ice Beam. This gives Thievul a free slot to do whatever it wants, from hitting another target harder, to good old wwllbreaking to pivoting. Sheer Force makes AoA and NP + 3 Attacks sets very difficult to switch into, and if that isn't enough, Stakeout Choice Specs takes it to the next level, making Dark Pulse a nuke button against all but the sturdiest of resists. I'll be carefully watching this boy once OptiMons drops, hopefully by enough offensive and defensive counterplay will exist.

Grapploct @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Octolock
- Drain Punch
- Soak
- Toxic

Grapploct says fuck you to stall by coming in and clicking Octolock, then using the tried and tested Soak + Toxic method to screw around Ghost types that think they can escape it's trap. Even if Grapploct isn't running it's signature set, Grap still can serve as a bulky Water type and a status absorber.

Coalossal @ Heavy Duty Boots
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Ability: Steam Engine
Careful Nature
- Spikes / Stealth Rock
- Heat Crash
- Recover
- Rapid Spin / Will o Wisp

While gaining recovery, more bulk and that sweet Water immunity helps immensely, I still think Coal is hot garbage, because so much powerful threats still body it. That being said, it is still a niche option to have.

Sandaconda @ Leftovers
Ability: Shed Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Glare
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Recover

Pretty standard set here. Sandaconda, while it hates all of the fairies, few want to get hit with paralysis from Glare. This + it's Dragon sub typing gives it distinct qualities that separates it from Ground types like Hippowdon and Stunfisk-Galar. Coil sets are definitely still on the table, they should make sure that Corviknight, Hydreigon and fairies are out.

Well that is a list.

Flapple [Optimized]
Abilities
: Ripen / Gluttony / Hustle
Stats: 70 HP / 110 Atk / 80 Def / 95 SpA / 80 SpD / 90 Spe (525 BST)
Added Moves: Earthquake, Earth Power, Focus Blast, Roost, Smart Strike
Summary of Changes: +20 SpD, +20 Spe
Justification: Flapple just needed a bit more bulk and speed so it could actually get a chance to set up. Earthquake hits grounded Steel types hard, and Smart Strike hits Fairies for good damage while ignoring Hustle‘s accuracy drop. Can't touch Corviknight.
Sample Set:
Flapple @ Life Orb
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Grav Apple
- Smart Strike
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Flapple Smart Strike vs. 196 HP / 0 Def Clefable: 343-406 (90.2 - 106.8%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Flapple Smart Strike vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Togekiss: 278-328 (89.3 - 105.4%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Flapple Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Ferrothorn: 149-177 (42.3 - 50.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Flapple Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Ferrothorn: 224-264 (63.6 - 75%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Togekiss Air Slash vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Flapple: 278-330 (98.9 - 117.4%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
0 Atk Ferrothorn Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Flapple: 99-117 (35.2 - 41.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Appletun [Optimized]
Abilities
: Ripen / Gluttony / Thick Fat
Stats: 120 HP / 85 Atk / 90 Def / 110 SpA / 90 SpD / 30 Spe (525 BST)
Added Moves: Earth Power, Flash Cannon, Focus Blast
Summary of Changes: +10 HP, +10 Def, +10 SpA, +10 SpD
Justification: Appletun actually has an okay stat spread already, so it was given some boosts to its bulk and offense. It gains three moves to hit Steels and Fairies. I avoided giving it Fire coverage so it can still be walled and beaten by Corviknight, and since it is unlikely to run a Dragon STAB, it can be beaten by opposing Dragons too.
Sample Set:
Appletun @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Apple Acid
- Flash Cannon
- Earth Power / Focus Blast
- Recover
Appletun can defeat Clefable if Clefable switches into a Flash Cannon or Apple Acid (unless Moonblast lowers its SpA), while being able to survive Clefable’s Moonblast:
252+ SpA Life Orb Clefable Moonblast vs. 4 HP / 252 SpD Appletun: 304-359 (79.5 - 93.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Appletun Flash Cannon vs. 196 HP / 0 SpD Clefable: 186-220 (48.9 - 57.8%) -- 96.1% chance to 2HKO
252+ SpA Appletun Apple Acid vs. 196 HP / 0 SpD Clefable: 139-165 (36.5 - 43.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ SpA Appletun Apple Acid vs. -1 196 HP / 0 SpD Clefable: 210-247 (55.2 - 65%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Appletun still can’t defeat the StratDex’s Sylveon however, even if it switches into Apple Acid:
0 SpA Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. 4 HP / 252 SpD Appletun: 216-254 (56.5 - 66.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Appletun Flash Cannon vs. 252 HP / 16+ SpD Sylveon: 124-146 (31.4 - 37%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Appletun Apple Acid vs. 252 HP / 16+ SpD Sylveon: 93-109 (23.6 - 27.6%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Appletun Flash Cannon vs. -1 252 HP / 16+ SpD Sylveon: 182-216 (46.1 - 54.8%) -- 9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Flapple [Optimized]
Abilities
: Ripen / Gluttony / Natural Cure
Stats: 70 HP / 125 Atk / 80 Def / 80 SpA / 70 SpD / 100 Spe (525 BST)
Added Moves: Iron Head, Earthquake
Summary of Changes: +15 Atk, +30 Spe, -15 SpA, + 10 SpD
Justification: Alright so why did I ditch hustle, I don't think the accuracy drop is worth the trade off. Instead we have a physical sweeper who can ignore burns and paralysis via U-Turn. Also I thought natural cure would be fitting since a flapple a day keeps the doctor away. It's moves are in turn are things that could make some sense for its anatomy. Iron Head because it has a head, and Earthquake because if an egg can learn earthquake why can't an apple. Just do a little dance, make a little love, and slaughter.

Hustle is mathematically worth it, with such a power drop this seems pretty weak

Flapple [Optimized]
Abilities
: Ripen / Gluttony / Hustle
Stats: 70 HP / 110 Atk / 90 Def / 95 SpA / 80 SpD / 90 Spe (535 BST)
Added Moves: Smart Strike, Superpower, Roost, Dragon Claw, Defog
Summary of Changes: +20 SpD, +20 Spe, +10 Def
Justification: Flapple gets a well needed buff to its bulk and speed, not only actually giving it the ability to find set up opportunities, and having the speed to back up it's power. Superpower hits Steel types hard, Roost heals it, and Smart Strike hits Fairies and can dodge accuracy issues. Dragon Claw is an option if Outrage's locking is an issue.

Abilities

Stats: 120 HP / 85 Atk / 90 Def / 110 SpA / 85 SpD / 45 Spe (535 BST)

Summary of Changes: +10 HP, +10 Def, +10 SpA, +5 SpD, +15 Spe
Justification: Appletun is dummy thick, and with its improved bulk and Thick Fat it can more easily wall threats. Dragon Tail gives Appletun more utility, and the extra coverage + Calm Mind greatly improves its offensive pressure.

Uh... when's the next slate? You said it'd be shortly but it's been like 16 hours since you said this and the next slate still isn't up. I'm sorry for being such a prick here, but I'm just trying to notify you as to get the next slate started. Tagging G-Luke to do this.

Sorry man, I got a life

Slate 7

These Pokemon are cross gen evolutions that were created in Generation 4, but they never got their chance to rock it in OU, unlike their counterparts Weavile, Gliscor and Rhyperior. Now in a new generation, they may finally get that chance!
