HGSS Megaspeculation Thread

Maybe, but I doubt they will be good. The only new moves we received from FRLG IIRC were the elemental beam tutors.
There were move tutors for other moves as well, and Qwilfish got Revenge. Yeah, not good, I know, but still.

If they implement the Beserk Gene, they'll probably prohibit a HGSS/DPP battle if someone on the HGSS team is holding it. Either that or implement it as a key item that activates a Mewtwo event.

People are saying this isn't a new gen can't be 100% sure of that can they? This could be a new gen in the sense GS was to RB in terms of how they interacted with the different Gameboy's at the time, there's no rule set in stone that new gen has to mean new continent right?

EDIT: I worded this very badly, the point I'm trying to get at is HGSS could be DSi games as opposed to DS games that still work on old DS's much in the same way GS worked on old Gameboy's. Sure you could trade stuff across but only as long as it was already in RBY, there's nothing saying that these new games need 100% compatibility with DPPt.

No you are wrong. They have been officially confirmed as remakes just like how LG/FR were remakes of R/B.
This is not a new generation. They have 100% been confirmed as remakes and nothing more.

Yeah as I edited saying new gen was bad wording on my behalf, I meant as in they could be made for the new handheld (the DSi) and as such don't need to have 100% compatibility with DPPt. As many people seem to be saying "X definately won't be in the game because it isn't in DPPt".

I think you guys are over thinking the whole berserk gene thing. It really isnt a big deal. Smeargle and purugly being the only effective users of it.

Ah, but it would be possible. Therefore, you cannot say it won't happen.

I know it's possible. However, chances are high that they won't add it. Why should they? Griseous Orb was to transform the version mascot, Shaymin's flower gave it a new form. Berserk Gene? Oh, it swaggers your Pokemon then disappears. Given its location (which I've mentioned before), I'd go as far to say it's actually less important than the Old Gateau.

Nonetheless, I won't keep repeating what I've been saying. I'm positive you understand my point.

Two Pokemon is something/

And what else to talk about...I don't see new news.

Well, there's a RUMOR (key word) that someone who knows someone at NOA, and who leaked the HGSS release early, said that he heard that there will be physical differentiations in hatched Pokemon. Like the notched-ear Pichu. I guess they're caused by breeding among different species, and they're NOT hybrids, just stuff like a Pikachu having curly or spiky hair or something.

A rumor, and probably not true, but if we've run out of stuff to talk about...

Edit: Now I realize, why would someone at NOA have any info on a Japanese game that isn't even finished yet? :/

If the rumor you're quoting is the one that originated from NeoGAF, then the person at NoA works at Treehouse, Nintendo of America's localization group. There's a good chance that they're already working on the game's translation to speed up the release process in hopes of getting it out by Christmas this year. But, it is a pretty ambituious rumor, even though he's been right about everything he's reported so far (and even used the Notched-Ear Pichu as an example, so I'd say there's some proof there).

You sure of that? The games might be in testing phase already.

And I really didn't believe this rumor at first, but when someone pointed out Notched-Ear Pichu has the same damn ear as Delcatty, I started wondering how complex will this new breeding system be...

I think individual characteristics for each of your pokes would be cool! Like, a typhlosion with blue flames instead of red-stuff like that.

No, I'm not sure. I just assumed it was still being worked on since it's still early.

I do hope it's true, although it will force me to re-breed a lot of things yet again.

I remember way back when GS was announced in the US, and there was an article in NintendoPower or something that described the new breeding feature, and there was some mention of 100 different possibilities for a baby Teddiursa, which I now assume was referring to parent combinations and egg moves. But the way I interpreted it was that they would actually be combinations or hybrids, and I was disappointed to find that the sprites didn't actually change. I would very much welcome some visible genetic variation, even if it's just an ear here or a tail there.

I doubt much of it is being worked on anymore. If it's supposed to come out around September in Japan, then they usually have to start actual production 2 months early. That gives them from now until July to do whatever else they need to do, which would hopefully only be final tests.

Cool, if the breeding rumor is true, I would love to see the baby of Dragonite + Charizard. Granted, it isn't huge details, but I would like to see what characteristics would be passed down. If this is true, then it will be as complex as egg moves, which is pretty cool IMO.

Wii Will Rock U is a pretty reliable user. If this is the same source that told him Wolf and ROB were in Smash Brothers, then it's safe to say it's a feature.

Firstly, we know Notch-Eared Pichu is in HGSS. Secondly, it's unlikely to be a one-off thing. Thirdly, Treehouse would be in the process or localizing the game. They localize long before the japanese release.

Why would the Notch-Eared Pichu be unlikely to be one-off? Other than this rumor I don't see any reason to assume it's not unique.
