Oh goodness the Hoenn Music was seriously dire. It always scars my experience of those games. First Gen music was great fun and 4th was good, but I really can't wait for these remakes, because the 2nd Generation has brilliant music, and uses some of the best tracks from the first games! (I'm thinking of the Lance battle music being re-used for the battle vs. Red ;P)

The Hoenn music wasnt that bad, maybe I just got used to it from playing the game so much but I found it fine, but GSC did have amazing music so hopefully thats not spoilt.

cant wait :)

I remember when you had to go back and battle Red! I was like Dammmmn!
But this has to be the best game - and with the remake, better graphics this just might be the best ever!

Cynthia is difficult to beat without the use of powerful items like Leftovers, Choice Scarf, etc. In fact, in Platinum especially, Cynthia can easily take you down to your last Pokemon unless you:
Honestly, the first time I ran through her in Pearl I used my Lv.59 Swords Dancing Infernape to defeat her. I just needed to set up on Spiritomb and use an X Speed, ending with +6 Attack and +1 Speed. In Plat I just Kyogred everything lol

Unless Lance fixes his team somehow, my soon to be Red Gyarados can annihilate the whole team by DDing and Ice Fanging the dragons to death.
Lance is by far the biggest joke of a champion in G/S/C (how on earth did his Dragons get leveled down three years after RBY?), but he does have a nice theme (shared with Red).

I doubt there'll be special music for Ho-oh/Lugia, but I do hope Crystal's legendary beasts theme returns. 2nd gen does have the best music.

I do not want Sinnoh in this game. The idea of Hoenn alone (no wordplay intended) is already stretching it, and I doubt it'd be there.

"Strong Pokemon, weak Pokemon. That is just the selfish perception of people..." Yeah, good times...

I wonder how they're gonna make johto bigger and have more trainers and stuff since anything new will make it not a remake and besides johto and kanto were too small to be full fledged regions in gsc

cant wait :)

I remember when you had to go back and battle Ash! I was like Dammmmn!
But this has to be the best game - and with the remake, better graphics this just might be the best ever!

That was not Ash. It was Red. Pokemon the games were released before Pokemon the anime. Ash is based off of Red, the R/B/Y protagonist.

For the millionth time (on multiple forums not named Smogon):

ANIME IS NOT EQUAL TO GAMES!

The games came first, the anime is based off the games, and the games never are based off the anime (save for Yellow, and a few cameos). The day they base video games completely off the anime is the day I stop playing Pokémon.

Hey dudes, have you noticed that when you see a sheep, you see thousands of them?

Then, MAYBE, it would make more sense for Mareep to learn Nasty Plot than Ampharos learning Tail Glow, considering it isn't a fucking firefly.
And, from my understanding, the Pokémon that learn Nasty Plot are either mean or in packs. Or both. And we know sheep are the devil.

Am I the only one who has this opinion?

ps- people were talking about this 50 pages back, but I decided to post about it anyway so that I can get flamed.

It's some kind of angler fish/sea slug hybrid, in my opinion.

I suppose it has to do with the intensity & nature of the light itself. Most sea animals that illumine do so with a soft, fluorescent light that comes from chemicals in their bodies, much like fireflies themselves.

Most of the other Pokemon that give off light of some kind do so in a "mystical" way, through psychic powers or through a bizarre photosynthetic process (Things that can learn Flash and/or with pokedex entries that describe luminescence). I'd say the nature of the light that Voltbeat & Manaphy produce is more similar to the natural chemical process of their bodies, since it's based on real animals that do so.

If anything, the first Pokemon that springs to mind for learning Tail Glow in the future is possibly Huntail.

it would not be good if all the regions were placed in a single game. Why? Because that could easily signal that the last game had been made. Still, it would be fun, I suppose. The problem with having that is that in Hoenn especially the map structure is based upon only having certain TM's at certain points. If you have surf/waterfall you can get to the elite four very fast.
So long as little kiddies like Pokemon, they will continue to make games. We don't have to worry about them stopping anytime soon.

Japanese name for Nasty Plot is Scheme, and from personal experience I can say that sheep are perfectly capable of scheming. Over 15 years I have had sheep on my farm and they are constantly finding ways to escape the electric fence and cause havoc in the backyard.

I too have owned sheep and if i had to pick a word that described them it would be more along the lines of "retarded" instead of "scheming."

As far as the discussion goes, I would consider Tail Glow to be more probable for the Mareep line seeing how Ampharos doubles as a lighthouse with its glowing tail.

Maybe Umbreon or Xatu could get nasty plot, I'd prefer the second but the first would be more logical.

Am I the only one with a nagging feeling that the Red Gyarados will not be capturable in this game? In G/S/C, it was always the same exact Gyarados with IVs of 0/14/10/10/10 for HP/Atk/Def/Spc/Spd. But now that shinies are dependant on the trainer's ID and SD, wouldn't it be impossible for it to be the same Gyarados for everyone? Would it really be feasible for the programmers to force the game to only allow shiny PIDs to be selected for that particular trigger-battle Pokemon?

I can see the story having Lance catch it if there is no solution. He could even use it against you in the Champion battle. Anyone with knowledge on this matter?

Yes. An Action Replay code for D/P already forces the game to produce legal shinies so I don't think that will be a problem. Or at least I think they do, as it produces legal IVs and is is shiny, and the possible PID matches with my SID to produce a shiny...

(Not meaning to discuss AR codes though it is an attempt to answer the question)

But Lance with Red Gyarados would be an absolute terror to my gameplay. It's like he's laughing at me (and even more if he has a Lv. 47 Dragonite again...)

Man, I had to post again. I am so excited to see this after nearly 10 years. ;_;

Also, what's with all the Ash vs. Red disputing? Honestly, does it really matter that much to differentiate their names or about who was modeled after who? It's pretty obvious that when someone mentions either name, you can generally understand who they're referring to. It's not the end of the world. :(

GSC used Ivs? I thought that was a third gen thing

Yeah, IVs have existed since Red and Blue. They were more commonly known as DVs then I think. At least, I didn't call them IVs until Ruby and Sapphire.

Cool, let's hope that they go through the trouble and let us catch that red Gyarados again. It would most likely be Synchable as well. :)

I was REALLY sawing this coming, I mean, Nintendo has a fanbase of Millions and millions of people, most of them attracted to Pokemon, so the G/S/C release was just a mattar of time, yet, theres something worrying me.......doesnt this mean that, in 5 years, we will be begging for R/S/E remake? I have always hated Hoenn, but it sounds logical

I'm guessing a Hoenn remake would be in the works if one of two things happened:
They greatly improve the graphics of the 5th gen, such as by making the game and battles full 3D; or they radically change a major aspect of the pokemon, such as changing the DV/stat exp. system in the transition between gen 2 and gen 3 (I personally hope they don't do that last one).

Has anyone noticed that ampharos looks more like a giraffe then an electric dragon? Anyway I think new pokeball seals would be good in this game, I liked the flower seal but it was a bit girly, I want a leaf seal this time.

Actually, I can sort of see the dragon shape. The only thing that throws me off really is the fact that it's previous forms are sheep. x_x
