League of Legends: Let's Talk About uhhh??

Um Ahri and Fizz got wrecked by these nerfs...Ahri's damage is horrendous in teamfights now (her AOE damage got butchered) and even if you land charm her harass in lane is significantly lower due to her w nerf. Fizz losing .2 AP ratio really hurt his kill and snowball potential in mid game and hurt his chances of bursting an ADC late game. Zed missile speed on his w hurts a ton and his r shadow is honestly completely useless now that it can't be used for damage. He can be knocked off by any number of abilities and can't get back to the target that is marked without blowing all of his escapes to do so. I haven't seen any of them at all since the nerfs and honestly I think that all of them will fall into disuse.

Kassadin on the other hand got buffed, which is absolutely retarded because he was already the dumbest champion in the game. His q is actually stronger at earlier ranks and only slightly weaker at max rank, while he r got buffed across the board by a huge margin.

Meanwhile Orianna nerfs are still nowhere to be seen despite the fact she has been the strongest pure AP carry for about two years now by a significant margin.
Ahri's teamfight damage hasn't changed a whole lot, Foxfire still deals the same total damage as before if it hits multiple targets and her ult got a slap on the wrist. And Foxfire isn't even what Ahri normally levels first, so I wouldn't say her laning took a significant hit with it. Her damage actually went up landing a Charm. The mana cost change to Charm probably hurts her more in lane, it's a big jump from 50 to 85 for Rank 1.
edit: makes me sad though ahri definitely got worse as a not-assassin :(

...Hmm yeah I guess Fizz's active did ge hit, for some reason I had on my mind it was his passive. Nonetheless, a successful ult into EQ can usually 100-0 squishies so I'm not too worried about him. Zed always needed W to respond to an ulted enemy's mobility spells anyway, his ult shadow being "behind" the target a whole couple Teemos beyond where he dashed was never significant enough distance gained to rely on it alone. It only hurts him insofar as he can't "save" his escape but it is automatically cast for him at the start of his ult. The missile speed nerf is what it is. *shrug*

I still don't get where people get "buff" out of these Kassadin changes. His Q is never stronger. It silences longer at low ranks and the mana cost scales more slowly. The huge base damage nerf really hits his midgame power spike I think. He lost his base MR per level gains as well. The buff to Riftwalk is legit but it requires him to play more risky to take advantage of it, landing on top of people to get the improved damage and mana cost refund rather than simply nearby to chunk a dude with EQ and stay at kiting range. Maybe that makes him more snowbally, when with a big lead he can afford to jump directly onto targets, but I'm not sure it outweighs the nerfs on average.

I don't even think Orianna is particularly amazing, no more so than many other traditional mages. She's the only one played competitively (unless you count Gragas) but then look how long it took for Fizz to become a thing after he was long since dismissed as garbage. SUDDENLY ASSASSINS! Why doesn't Morgana make a comeback? She's arguably an even stronger laner, Black Shield is as a unique and amazing utility as Command: Shockwave, her pick potential is certainly stronger with her superior CC and burst damage. Kennen (any lane any role :P), Lissandra... What happened to Kayle? Why did people stop playing Karthus this time?

does anyone else thing with the s4 jungle we could see nunu rise up and become a thing again? I really hope not

Glad I'm not the only one having that retarded +5 per win bullshit in plat 1. Seriously riot wy yu not let me diamond ;_;

By the way I hope they fix that mmr nonsense next season because :
- I was stuck in Plat 5 (my bad I was trolly at the time) and all of a sudden I was getting +4 and losing UP TO 28 POINTS (just what the fuck)
- Then I got up to Plat 4 and my mmr was now fucked up, like +25-30 and -15 per win/loss.. making it 1202157465 times easier than Plat 5 (makes sense right...)

And now the #div1 retarded elo gain. I mean, if you're better than the average level in your league, you should go up. Why does riot need to make this process last several months. There is already a BO, making sure you don't totally luck your way out thanks to a good streak.

ffs, 5 lp (and it seems like it NEVER gets any better with your mmr increasing, which is retarded)

I got +0 six games in a row at Diamond 1 99 LP. And I'm not complaining. The system is what it is. Win more and you'll not only gain LP but you'll gain MMR which translates into more LP gain. Seriously I don't know why people complain so much when the MMR is the only thing that really matters anyhow, and that's the holdover from the old system.

If anything I don't like that it is impossible to make it to Diamond 1 in terms of LP in fewer than about a hundred games, even if one has challenger MMR. But you'll still be playing with challengers, which is the whole point oof solo queue anyway.

You're comparing two different things. And ungh, I know that the system is "what it is", my post was here to share my point of view on "what it is". So yea, answering "deal with it" to a discussing post isn't really interesting, but maybe you just wanted to say "I'm chall" and I wont blame you for that.

However, I wanna add why in my opinion you can't compare the two situations.
Let's take a simple example to showcase how different it is, and how stupid can be the mmr/div thing.

Judo, or Karate, or whatever you want.
You can imagine that Leagues are Belts. To me, if you're good enough to have the Blue belt, you get it. Same goes for the Leagues, if you have a "Gold level", you get a Gold League. This is "non-rival", we could all be Gold if we want. And we could all have a Blue belt if we want. On top of that, once you get the Belt, you keep it for the rest of your life (the season in LoL).

Okay but now, Challenger could be compared to Olympics, or World Cup (or rather European, American, etc. regional cups). The best of the best participating in these events. Here, you can't have everybody at the #1 seed. In this situation, everybody fights for his position, the ranking is "rival".

All that to say, I understand why the system makes it hard for the top level Diamonds1, since they're in a league where people have to challenge each other (that's the point of the top of that division isn't it ?). The more people are gathering in that division, the harder you need to work.

But it makes next to no sense when it comes to the normal leagues, since we're not supposed to directly challenge each other for the spots in the higher league (we could all be Goldies in theory).
As a result, proving that you're worth Gold when you're Silver 1 takes 5+3 wins (5x20 + the BO5). I did it several times, even with accounts suffering a sucky mmr, so I'm adamant about the gains in here. But claiming your spot in Diamond for a Platinum 1 takes 20+3 wins (20x5 + the BO5). It is just another step of the SAME ladder you're climbing though !

Finally, let's say that I'm Platinum 1 and that I have an average 66% win ratio (pretty good, if not really impressive in soloQ, definitely means that I worth more than where I'm at).
Well it's gonna take 60 games to reach the BO5. Thus, even with an oustanding win ratio, given the actual lp gain of Platinum 1 (which seems to be frozen, regardless of your mmr), you need 63 games to get to Diamond.
Let's not even calculate how much it takes when you lower the win ratio to a more appriopriated number (I assume 50% means that you're where you should be, so 55% means that you should definitely be at least in the next higher division - plus, riot valids your level thanks to a BO5, which is equal to a 60% win ratio, definitely less than 66%).

PS : I really suspect Riot to freeze the standing to the upper leagues as the season meets its ending. So all that MMR faith (which I'm not against at all) gets hurt pretty badly. Check the ranking of Jebus' opponents, this is pretty retarded. To compare, I believe I got an average+ mmr and I win 5 and lose 3/4... and I'm not playing against Diamonds 1 at all.

When I went through plat 1 I got about 10-15 a win until around 65-70, at which point you start getting 5 or so. It doesn't take 25 straight wins to make it to diamond 5, but if you've played a large number of games in platinum (thus making your mmr stable in platinum) it makes sense it will take more wins to prove to the system that it isn't a fluke. I can understand that getting into gold ought to be easier than challenger, but there is definitely a sense of "fighting for spots", given that only a certain percentage of players are supposed to be each tier.

The reason Jebus is playing with diamond 1s is not that he has diamond 1 mmr, it is that he is duoing with a diamond 1 and when you duo with a wide mmr disparity the mmr of the other players on your team trends towards the higher rated player

i'm not even going to try for plat by the end of the season because even winning every game i can influence, there are still some unwinnable games (not to mention promos) and if i'm to assume my mmr is increasing, i should see higher lp gains but i'm not, it's +5 or +6 every game

it's super discouraging, i don't even enjoy solo queue even if i win. no reason to stress myself out anymore

BASICALLY I DON'T LIKE GRINDING IN VIDEO GAMES

Welp, gold 1 for life nek minnet losing streak and gold 2. Had a 50/50 win ratio for too long and the LP clamp got worse and worse. No platinum for me :(. Wish my parents would let me buy a new computer despite comfortably having enough money for one will since anything with too many pixels drops my fps to 10-20 in team fights. E.g. J4 ult, Shyvana ult, Zyra fire skin plants. When I play Anivia in teamfights with lot of high pixel champions, I usually end up using my Q backwards and cancelling my ult.

so you admit to trolling in a V division and cry that mmr needs to be fixed?

ok

ok

That was maybe too strong of a word. I never trolled ranked games, I was just not always trying hard. Basically like every single LoL player from Bronze to Diamond does from time to time. Mind you, when you're at 0 points, this behaviour tends to happen more often.

And I didn't cry that mmr needs to be "fixed". It is facking written in black and white in the end of the second post.
I just whine about the fact that sometimes, your lp gain gets lowered so hard that your mmr gets harshly mitigated, if not totally ignored (probably in the case of crowded divisions during the end of the season).

On another note, it's been some time that people realised how fucking retarded was Nasus top lane. I mean, it doesn't even fear the early brawlers match-up that much anymore. Before, that was almost an instant loss for Nasus, now, if you don't kill him to snowball, or deny him significantly... you get outscaled so fast that he turns into some kind of Top lane's world boss.

I find that Riven doesn't crush him anymore, which is quite impressive. I picked Nasus against Riven several times now, and I always did fine at the cost of some early lane pressure. At least, when I compare that match-up to the Season 2 (that was just a massacre) I'm amazed at how Nasus performs against her (let's not even talk about Garen).
On the other side, when I was facing Nasus I started playing Teemo/Kennen to bully him hardcore. Teemo does well, but that's Teemo :\
Kennen must really deny him hardcore, or he'll be able to ignore your harass after some time. Good thing is that he can't kill you, unless you screw up.

Other picks I like are Renekton, because you really have the edge early, and some kill potential if you get a level advantage. Later, you're not likely to get killed, and can push pretty safely.
I've seen a lot of Jax crushing Nasus hardcore in lane, which suprised me at first given how AS based is Jax. But with that Dodge and the AA reset (plus "mixed" damages), I can understand.

I find funny to talk about how you deal with Nasus, because no matter what you pick, you almost feel like there is a timer on the top of your head.

I can't even get out of the hellhole that is Plat II apparently, so yeah wouldn't mind Plat I right now. Grind to diamond is gonna take too long to make it now though, dunno why I'm still wasting my time when I just need to accept defeat and have an extra week of breeding mons, playing other games or whatever. I just wanted my shiny border... :( also that means cath beat me and that's mildly irritating

Funny thing is I skipped Plat III entirely. That insane losing streak I went on after I hit my first Plat II promo killed my MMR and I've been stuck ever since, though. Haven't lost a game the two or three times I've dropped down to Plat III either.

I played 800 ranked games in S3 just to move from Gold II to Gold III :x

But leagues suck anyways, I want elo back

also in not-really-related news, I have 1452 ranked games in my League "career" and still have zero pentakills

fell from 70LP to 61LP today in plat I and with tech week starting for the musical i'm doing i don't think i'm going to be able to hit diamond this season :/
