League of Legends: Let's Talk About uhhh??

Nonono you're misreading the intent of the guide. His intent is so that all AP mages DON'T have to worry about mana, given how much they're getting!

FREE WEEK STUFF
Alistar - dumb because he's a free champ
Ashe - k
Graves - Already owned
Lux - Worth trying
Malzahar - Worth trying definitely
Maokai - Worth trying but he's kinda ugly
Master Yi - I suppose
Morgana - Already owned
Riven - I just bought her like a few hours before knowing that she's going to be free x_x. Well this is a long term benefit for me I guess
Volibear - People will be dying left and right due to this thing because all the randoms I'll be playing with/against will get caught super hard by that throw.

They also buffed ryze, me thinks. Build him exactly the same and relish in the fact that he's even more powerful than he was before, won't be long before they nerf bat him again.
If nothing else the Unholy Grail is a very slight indirect nerf to Ryze since he can't make really good use of it unlike other APs (not saying that he can't use it, but given that he already has tons of mana and another cdr item alternative...)

free week maokai makes me want to cry, top will be a nightmare
there's really not much that can deal with his amount of harass and his durability just adds icing to the shitcake
this is of course assuming people still run him top and has not been subject to the whole "jungle nearly every viable top laner" trend that i've been seeing happen in which case good fucking riddance

EDIT: inb4 theorycrafting, in theory yes he is beaten by a lot but in practice a good one is shitty to lane against.

:'(

Maokai is not an ugly champ, Maokai is the cutest champ. Leave him alone!

mao has been a great jungler for long as long as i've known, he can duel lee sin top or jungle. Good luck against a Trynd or Cait top.

ily kinneas <3

i kind of don't want to just pop in here but permission to use this as my new avatar

Also mao looks like an interesting support, I normally play him as jungler but his cc and utility makes him seem really useful for the support role. Ideas anyone?

I don't see how Maokai top would be a problem. His only good harass is e, which pushes the wave, can get half its damage blocked by minions, and is really expensive. And it only hurts early on. Get a bit of mr and some hp, and you can ignore him and afk farm top.

Ya feel free to use it. ^_^

I really love Maokai's design. I think he hits just the right balance between creepy, badass and cute. He also has pretty interesting lore, although I don't know how many people here actually pay attention to champion lore. Definitely one of my favourite champions, so I'm glad he's such a high tier jungler.

I wish you could choose not to play with premades in normal soloque. These three assholes called top mid and jungle and forced me and the other random to go bot when we both said we weren't as good bot. (I'm good at support but I don't know how to carry a bad carry)

Game starts okay. I was Taric, the other random was Twitch (fml). We were against Lee Sin/Soraka bot. They were hyper-agressive and while Twitch let me die he was getting double kills so he was 4/0 to Lee's 2/2 early. Then he started having computer trouble and things went down hill from there. The premade must have been huge CoD-heads because they acted like their penis would fall off if they got killed. At least three times Lee Sin/Soraka/Wukong jumped our jungle Malphite in his jungle and Twitch and I would go to try and win a fight. The fight would last quite a while and there would be a point where all six of us were low health and full health full mana Lux (our mid) would get close trying to cherry pick with her ult but wouldn't actually engage and fight. There were also multiple times when Lux/Malphite/Jax (the premade) would act like they were getting ready to engage so I would get close enough to land a stun on Ashe and the enemy team would jump me and they would just run the fuck away.

So they blamed the loss on Twitch and I for feeding and having bad positioning when really it was just because they ran the fuck away from every fight.

I'm very excited that this is the patch that introduces not allowing free week champs in ranked and it is Varus' first free week.

He is mine. Paws off.

Interesting to see morgana and lux free on the same week. There are few champions I am excited to try (malhazar, lux, maokai, varus and riven) but I personally think this is a fair way off from being a great free week.

obviously i don't know what happened that game but it's probably a better idea for malphite to pick fights rather than taric

Also, I'm falling in love with Jungle Twitch on streams/featured games.

Yeah, but he wouldn't because he was too afraid of dying. And I would engage because if I didn't Wukong would just run at Lux. And since the premade ran from fights instead of peeling him off Lux would die.

Riven is OP, but is not uber in the jungle. Anyways, I have a guide on solo mid. It is called: The guide to AP mages with no mana management. This build is awesome, and always works (<--Not intended to be a factual statement). The build is here [!].
Did anyone find the typo in the guide?

He's not wearing pants, he has a belt across his chest. Did you know Maokai wears a belt and a loin cloth in the game? I only noticed when looking closely at the art.

wow ok didn't think maokai could be that cute

riven is fun, would definitely buy her if i could deal with melee last hitters

also i am pretty bad in any non-carry role and even then i can only really teamfight as ad carries, is there any sort of basic guide to every role?

these might be dated but they should hopefully give you an idea of what to do / not to do

After playing a bots game and realizing "hey I'm making some mistakes that even the bots are punishing me for", I may as well post here for some advice. I think my biggest problem is positioning - I take unnecessary damage and it often leads to deaths (eh yeti?). I sometimes try to stay behind tanks but I often get impatient, leading me to the front lines. In fights I often have the opposite problem - running away when injured while I can still do stuff. Considering I sometimes play ww, who wants to get in the thick of things, this is a problem.

I mainly play AP mids and support as soraka, if that helps.

Also any tips for landing malhazar's q. It's powerful but really fiddly to hit so I dont use it much in general which is a shame, since I'm not getting the most out of his kit.

ps. feel free to take a drink everytime the word "I" was used. Jesus my writing is poor

Well basically try to predict what they will do. If you need to walk toward them to q, take a note of whether they are going to try to trade with you or just run away from you. If you think they'll want to trade, just aim it right where they are. If you think they're gonna run (which is the smartest thing to do, you're fucking malzahar you can 100-0 every mid that doesn't cc you in time) then aim it behind them. This is just in lane. During teamfights it's pretty much the same idea, but remember you may need to save it to interrupt an enemy channel if nobody else on your team has interrupt cc or if they just suck at saving it to interrupt.

Also remember the portals give vision. The portals, not the beam, so you can check two brushes in one q if you aim it right. It helps a lot to not smartcast it.

EDIT: also the cooldown isn't really that long iirc so don't worry about spamming it a bit, especially if you have blue.

Today was the day that Blitzes, Amumus, and Nauts ran amok...

I am sure many of us who played felt rage towards the number of Blitzes we ran into in pre-made 5.
