League of Legends: Let's Talk About uhhh??

So am I not allowed to play UNRANKED with my friends because I'm terrible?
holy shit I understand that with an ftp model you'll get a bunch of kids butt fuck I played xbl for years and I never experienced this kind of manner
christ the people who play this game are fucking dicks

Yeah, the LoL community is kinda rough... but if you think that this is rough, please, please...... don't play Heroes of Newerth...... You'll get ripped to shreds by their competitiveness......

Also, I've been playing AP Kog'maw, and I gotta say, it's beast. Interestingly enough I have a much easier time using AP Kog than AD Kog....... but that's just my playstyle I guess....

@Box: Only ranked games count for your ranking (although you start near your normal game MMR for your first 10 matches). Once you've played 10 ranked games, you'll be placed into a tier and division based on your normal MMR and your record in the first 10 games.

@best ADC argument: IMO every ADC in the game is good, except for maybe Quinn (who's a solo top bruiser, really) or Sivir (who just needs another rework). It's just that they're all good at different things and have different positives.

Easiest ADCs to pick up and play: Caitlyn, Graves, Miss Fortune

Best early game all in ADCs: Miss Fortune, Graves, Tristana

Best early game poking ADCs: Caitlyn, Ezreal, Varus

Best AD hypercarries: Vayne, Tristana, Kog'Maw

Best utility carries: Varus, Twitch, Ashe

or something like that.

Quinn is a solo top; if you don't play her tanky you can never ult without dying. Tanky Quinn also opens up options like Brutalizer rush->Fratmas/Sunfire+Wits End->Ghostblade or a split pusher build like Statikk Shiv+Hydra (for clearing minions ridiculously fast in bird mode)+Sunfire/Warmogs for bulk.

Sivir is Sivir; what she does isn't different enough from what the other ADCs do for her to be a viable pick right now. She needs to be differentiated from the other carries; she seems like she's meant to be a "pusher" ADC but Caitlyn's sheer range and poke means that she's outclassed there.

I'm aware I just don't play ranked because I don't want to face the inevitability of being dumped in Bronze. I'm currently 4:1 in my ranked history though, 4 of which duo queues with my Gold friend.

Did you mean to show me a video where a Syndra managed to juggle all 7 balls in a pro game? Cause I see a much more realistic 5, exactly like I said. It's the low cooldown that got her a Pentakill, not her ult.

Where did anyone say ultimates are all a champion is? She got a pentakill in a ranked game, and won it. That means her potential is legitimately decent, at the very least.

Yeti is right about ADC's, it's hard to put them into tiers because they fit different roles in various team comps, professional team playstyle, individual playstyle and solo q. Where as in other roles it's pretty easy to make a tier list because that champ pretty much does the same thing every game regardless of the team or player using them (such as Nasus jungle being a great objective control jungler)

Obviously an ADC like MF is trash tier to doublelift because it doesn't give him the ability to carry like vayne/twitch/tristana.

i'm sure you'd know about nasty shit titsmage

Post RIGHT before mine; the one I was replying to.

I have to say the damage on her R is ridiculous if you play your cards (or balls, rather) right... I'm starting to suspect that she's secretly OP but noone knows because only like 3 people play her.
I was explaining why she isn't popular. You might want to understand exactly what Timmy means before you go getting all defensive. It means something that has a big effect for a big, probably not efficient cost. Players try out Syndra in free week, try to 6 ball ult and fail, and then throw her away. There's pretty poor conveyance of exactly what is expected of her. The 5 ball ult is the realistic one to set up everytime, and with 40% CDR that's just a matter of surviving a fight for 2.6 seconds. That's hardly the kind ball juggling shenanigans that she seems like she'd invite from the promotion they ran on her. That's why people don't play her.

The bit he's arguing against is when you talked about her as a champ being relatively weak in high tier play (Which is the opposite of the truth, the more skilled you are the more powerful she is). Maybe this was just a misunderstanding because you may have been referring to just her ult strength, but this wasn't clear (the post you were replying to did speak of her ult strength, but also other features as well).

I'd say her lack of popularity is due to her higher skill cap because ball-placement and management is a task that you won't necessarily pick up straight away. However for those who have learned her (Bjorgsen and Link [Probably more pros, let alone high elo players]) she's a very powerful pick.

Also, I think I have an idea of what you mean by Timmy, but TVTropes is saying that he doesn't care about power and only about looking cool? Obviously that would not jive with Syndra since she is unpopular, so I'm not sure what's up there. You probably mean something else.

Then you misunderstood me.

Also I don't know where you get off using a single paragraph from TV Tropes to tell me that I "mean something else" when it comes to a term of my industry. You probably could have put a little more effort looking into it (like, the links on the TVT page), or simply read what I said above to clarify. Doesn't even the TV Tropes paragraph say "cool, but inefficient?" It's true that there is a lot of skill to placing her balls in order to stun or slow well, however, proper use of her ult is just a matter of CDR. When the Timmy players realize this, they go back to playing Tryndamere, Nasus, Veigar, Sion, Twisted Fate... well it's not a long list cause this isn't a card game, but I'm saying that they gravitate towards the ult, as was emphasized in the post I replied to, and they end up disappointed with the reality of it

Chill out, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt with that. I meant you were probably right and that you didn't mean the version of the phrase I was looking at, and I was only asking for clarification (Which you did give, but I had not seen it by the time I pressed "Post Reply").

It's true that there is a lot of skill to placing her balls in order to stun or slow well, however, proper use of her ult is just a matter of CDR. Some may gravitate to the ult, but many say it's her weakest feature due to its short range contrasted against her long range kit. They may go for the ult but stay for the other three spells which are spectacularly powerful, and the ult is just icing.

Her primary limiting factor isn't that doing a derp 7 ball ult isn't practical, but rather that her power potential isn't easy to tap into. In this way she's more analogous to Anivia. When was the last time you saw an Anivia FotM? Maybe in Season 2 after Froggen destroyed as her for a few tournaments? It didn't last long if it did.

EDIT: At no point does the spotlight imply that ulting with only 5 balls is premature all the time. It says he ults prematurely on blitz because it was an unnecessary ult that Blitz could've survived from with ease had he not turned around to fight more. What the spotlight does stress is being disruptive with your other spells first and saving the ult for more opportune moments on vulnerable squishies, often using 4 to 5 ball Ults throughout. Not really sure where you're getting this idea that they wanted to hype the ult.

The Ult is emphasized in her champion spotlight. From questionable phrases like "can take out an enemy without even taking damage", to showing off a 6 ult using juggling, to even calling a 5 ult "premature". Hell, I remember the posts in this thread that were excited about the idea of juggling. However as it turned out, people only become good Syndra players when their expectations become much more reasonable and mundane, so there's a difference with what Riot was selling (and perhaps expecting) and what people actually get out of her.

That's the kind of thing that hurts a champion's sales, especially when they built their whole game around trying to make champs convey how they are supposed to play as much as possible. Many Spike players never gave her the benefit of the doubt because of the way she was marketed, and Timmy players threw her away because they aren't Spike players.

I think it's possible to rank the ADCs. The arguement saying "each has his niche" is true, but it's true for every single hero in a competitive MOBA (at least, it's the concept). And you still see tier. Unless everybody agree that all the ADCs are at the same level (which is obviously not the case), you can build some TL.

So my opinion :

S Tier : Varus Caitlyn
A Tier : Miss Fortune Ezreal Draven Twitch Vayne
B Tier : Corki Kog Maw Tristana Sivir Graves Urgot
C Tier : Ashe Jayce Kayle Kennen
D Tier : Twisted Fate Quinn Teemo

So, I ranked Varus first, I wasn't sure about Caitlyn in S, but there isn't much difference between a (X) Low Tier and a (X-1) High Tier. Her lane control is unmatched, and the fact that it's probably the safest pick is a big advantage.

Miss Fortune for her damage output was close to S. Not much to say about A, Twitch is a really competitive AD at the moment.

B Tier, I feel like Corki is really fine, but not played because considered as "outclassed" by Ezreal. In fact, by the past (early S2) NO ONE was playing Ezreal because he was considered as outclassed by Corki. Those two have an intense competition going on.
Kog Maw is a key ADC in my opinion, I may have ranked him a bit high but to me he's really better overall than Trist and his main downside right now is the fact that every single tank is building a Bulwark, so he can't really melt them as before. His range is just insane and with good positioning you get rewarded far more than with a Trist (but you don't have this escape, however your late is stronger).
Sivir is HELLA underrated, she does really fine against most of the top picks minus Draven and MF. Out of that, you will suffer a bit from the range, but she is really a nice AD that people should try more.
Graves is "ok" but outclassed by MF in my opinion, and Urgot is an ADC that nobody plays, he can be really fearsome.

C, Ashe has her ultimate and the orb walking kiting. You sacrifice a lot of burst and early game/laning power for that.
Jayce is.. well "decent" and can be really good if paired with the right support, Kayle is really playable and self sufficient as AD, Kennen got those stuns that every single AD is begging for. Those ADCs have REAL niches and "can" shine even if they are mostly outdamaged by the more classic ADCs.

D, to me they are barely viable. Even if, TF AD is something I tried (yes, in ranked) and it works "ok". It's not the best thing ever, but the stun is really cool and his ability to gank mid and the jungle is valuable. I feel like he's outclassed by Twitch here however.
I'm not gonna talk about Teemo and Quinn. To me Quinn should be played as mid given her mobility, as ADCs she's just bad and I rather have a Kayle able to protect someone and deal relevant damages, or an ADc with real CCs.

Oh, and this is my personal list, not something official or what, so no need to go crazy because Trist isn't A. She doesn't deserve it anyway rofl, Corki is just better :D

Trist not S? Omfg you bronze V noob fuck just quit league you have no idea how powerful rocket Jump is buy rage blade on her and she is ranged master Yi lol

lol there is no compititiv tier list 4 anything...

errything is a fotm list. specially 4 adc. absolutely nothin changed about varus wen he was bad, but I gess now dat he fotm ppl nao think he's op. I wuld like som group of ppl here to actualy think 4 themselves pls instead of noding ur head n blindly trying 2 looklike u know watur ttalking about
