League of Legends: Let's Talk About uhhh??

a gank on malphite by ryze/ashe/zac just turned into a triple kill for me

unstoppable force + brutal strikes + ground slam is a fantastic counterstrike combo

Has anybody else tried Hydra+Ghostblade Quinn?

Before you all rage me (Hydra is melee only!) consider this:

-Ravenous Hydra is gold efficient and slot efficient EVEN WITHOUT THE ACTIVE
-hydra and ghostblade synergize so well with bird form
-you get amazing split pushing and pretty decent damage out of those two items alone, allowing you to go tanky afterwards.

wouldn't hydra only help you split push when you're in bird form

It gives you a ton of stats even if you're not in bird form (it's cost efficient and slot efficient WITHOUT THE ACTIVE OR PASSIVE), and it gives you more burst and more regeneration in bird form.

EDIT:

i'd rather have bloodthirster, which is cheaper and works with crit

ghostblade is better than phantom dancer during the active and it helps take down towers faster, but the duration is so short and i'd rather have the reliability of pd or shiv, especially since shiv also helps with quinn's shitty waveclear

They drastically changed their lineup and it's now extremely good.

I don't feel like looking it up again, but I'm pretty sure it's now:

Top: Nientonsoh
Jungle: Bigfatlp
Mid: Link
ADC: Doublelift
Support: Chauster

Or were you already aware of that and just questioning my statement about them now being the best team in NA? In which case: fair enough :P

I literally didn't know!

Did they vlog about it or...? And where's Hotshot?

NO ONE WILL CRY IF YOU GO BACK ON YOUR DESIGN PHILOSOPHY AND REMOVE DEATH SENTENCE
Not happening.

It's possibly their biggest strength/flaw but they just will not divert from their design philosophies, regardless of whether it's aesthetic, balance or telling someone BKB is a toxic anti-fun no counterplay item.

said this before but as long as riot balances competitive play the same as casual play, league of legends will never truly be competitive, not on the same level as starcraft or dota

as for tips for riot so they dont balance like special ed kids

CHANGE MURAMANA BACK TO MAGIC HOLY SHIT HOW DOES THIS NOT MAKE SENSE
REDUCE SHOCK BLAST DAMAGE GODDAMN, EVERY POKE COMP IS BUILT AROUND JAYCE
JUST BECAUSE NOBODY PLAYS SEJUANI DOESN'T MEAN SHE'S NOT OP
INCREASE ELDER LIZARD'S PRICE IT IS TOO GODDAMN CHEAP
STOP PRETENDING THERE'S A CHOICE ELEMENT IN EVOLVING KHA'ZIX' ABILITIES AND JUST BALANCE HIM PROPERLY
DIANA IS STILL STUPID
THRESH DOES TOO MUCH, NO ONE WILL CRY IF YOU GO BACK ON YOUR DESIGN PHILOSOPHY AND REMOVE DEATH SENTENCE

I've also noted that League has kept my attention for far longer than Starcraft ever has. Looking for an hour at DOTA 2 champions and mechanics on the wiki makes me appreciate how different the design of that game is...and why I'm grateful for League's casual-oriented design philosophy.

To be entirely honest, League is still doing a great job so far.

1. Because it made no sense to buy on the champs it was actually designed to help and was a noob trap on most of the ones that it wasn't designed for. (coughsyndracoughgrailcough)
2. Agreed that Jayce really needs his poke toned down.
3. They knew this for a loooong time. The relaunch was meant to make Sejuani's power more obvious by shifting power around in her kit into stuff that the Sej player could actually feel.
4. I don't play SR. I'm still having way too much fun theorycrafting this item to ask for nerfs.
5. As a guy who plays Kha'Zix occasionally, they ARE ****ing balancing him properly. They're moving power around his kit to get rid of things that made Kha a bit too powerful, increase the need for skilled play (hint--evolving W first isn't as worthwhile now, so Kha has to actually land a skillshot if he wants to slow someone at a range--but thanks to the slow no longer NEEDING the evolution or consuming his passive, he gets even better stickiness to a target if he lands it), and generally giving him more things to do.
6. Haven't played her after changes yet. Will get around to this eventually.
7. I will fucking rip your fucking skull out. Thresh was an instabuy for me just BECAUSE of how many awesome plays he could make, combined with having a badass design and such. Somewhat like Lulu, except her design was hilarious instead of badass.

That's not going back on the design philosophy, that's Riot spontaneously deciding to be a dick to Thresh players.

Not happening.

It's possibly their biggest strength/flaw but they just will not divert from their design philosophies, regardless of whether it's aesthetic, balance or telling someone BKB is a toxic anti-fun no counterplay item.

To be fair, BKB isn't toxic (actively consumes gameplay nuance to sustain itself) in its home environment--as a DOTA/2 item it's balanced as part of the powerful mitigation effects and raw item power that the game is designed around. It WOULD be toxic in League, however, due to the sheer number of champions who rely on magic damage and CC to do ANYTHING (including Morgana, ironically a walking BKB herself) that would feel like shit to play if an item that gave magic immunity and total CC immunity for most of a teamfight were introduced.

Mercurial Scimitar is the LoL attempt to make an item with BKB's niche that better fits the design of League.

Sejuani is already getting nerfed and her winrate is pretty high right now, I think it's common knowledge by now that shes pretty good. Jayce is a little bit too strong right now but it also has to do with the fact that muramana is like the best item ever on him. Jungle items have been cost efficient since that patch where they buffed all of the jungling items.

idk riot nerfs so much, instead of buffing champs that suck. The only champ riot has been trying to get good is Nami but still isn't quite there yet. I still have no clue why riot randomly nerfed Akali so much in the 3.05 patch. Also taric got over nerfed also, not that I really care though because running at someone with a skill less stun zoning an adc while being tanky af cause of op aura annoying and not very fun to play against.

If there's anything they should do to Thresh, they should make him less of a jack-of-all-trades and dedicate him more to a single niche. They should do that with Lulu and Taric as well; champions that do everything well always destroy variety unless they do each individual thing worse then champions designed to do those things.

Why not make Thresh scale only on his souls, and make him into an aggressive version of Janna (with a weak laning phase that transitions into an amazing late game)?

EDIT: Nami's kit is a jack-of-all-trades kit designed correctly; she can do a lot of different things, but her drawback is that she doesn't do any of those things as well as supports designed to do those things. However, she feels weak because there are other adaptable supports (Lulu, Thresh, Taric) that do everything without the drawback.

Honestly, the thing that stood out to me was Rumble. His ultimate is the issue. The slow, damage, range, it is just too powerful.
it's been nerfed enough, rumble is supposed to be good in teamfights, but he was designed as an ap hero that could win top lane and i guess after all the swings in the solo lane metagame rumble merges king of the ap side lane

i dislike how he monopolises 12-18 minute dragon fights but i don't think he's as stupid as most people make him out to be. the only suggestion i'd make is to punish rumble players that don't play in danger zone, because he feels a bit too 'safe' at the moment which is wrong wrong wrong as a guy who does well early and late game with super strong AOE

as a rumble player i can vouch that he feels significantly weaker early on in lane which gives your laning opponent a much larger window to capitalize on how weak you are

pre-nerf a properly played rumble was nearly impossible to beat after level 5 without jungler assistance but now many popular top laners can trade with him for a few more minutes

his teamfighting is still superb due to his ult and overall damage output but Riot definitely hit his lane phase very hard

As much as I love the item getting more appreciation these days, I have to say the slobbering over Manamune/Muramana on Jayce is pretty sickening.

as in you don't think it's as good of an item as everyone is making it out to be or you hate the fact that it's a mandatory buy on jayce/kha'zix/ezreal in most games

He thinks two things of it:

1) Muramana isn't that much stronger than S2 Manamume (though he said that before S3 Manamume became 20 AD so his opinion on that may have changed).
2) Why get Muramana when you can get a different AD item and do more damage/get your Black Cleaver/Last Whisper faster. You don't need the mana if you have blue buff and you can just forgo the weak part of Tear (where you only have Tear so you don't have combat stats).

cause with muramana's change to physical damage it's become pretty much a necessity on jayce not only due to the stupidity that is hyper charge + muramana or how incredibly well that combos with cleaver, but also because of how much it frees up his laning phase

i recently played jayce in 3s and decided to not build tear at all and go straight for brutalizer and my mana pool was so low that i had to play extremely conservative in lane

tear allows you to generally play more aggressive without blue buff which also allows you to farm better (especially in 1v2 situations, which is a boon for tournament top laners)

although manamune jayce has a dip in power during the 10-15 minutes it takes to charge his tear, he experiences one of the stupidest spikes in power in the game at the moment once his muramana finishes charging

TL;DR - good luck ever poking effectively on a non-muramana jayce when you don't have blue buff

Critique my Renekton build:

Doran's Blade
Boots
Tiamat
Hydra
Boots 2
Sunfire
Spirit Visage
Bork/Mallet
Bork/Mallet

Is it in efficient order?
