(And I win yet another bet, thanks ToF)
Weezing has Thunder because bulky waters like to switch in on it as it sets up rain. Like Milotic. As you noticed. It's not meant to stick around and be a wall, it's meant to set up rain, hit things, and go boom.
The team in general consists of multiple sweepers, who are capable of setting up their own rain, and one defensive pivot (Weezing). Teams using Damp Rock use two-three rain setting walls because Damp Rock actually gives enough time to switch to sweepers and have them set up. Using the same strategy without damp rock would be pointless, and it wouldn't work very well at all, as you could tell if you've ever used a rain team and had your damp rock tricked away from your wall as you set up rain.
In short, don't lecture me about teambuilding with rain.
"Ludicolo would have done fine against Raichu"? At 28% health?
And note that Kabutops was paralyzed, going to it would have just let me set up rain again just like I did with Qwilfish, at which point Umbreon would have killed Kabutops, died to Gorebyss after doing some damage to it, had Hitmontop kill Gorebyss and die to Qwilfish (this is where rain runs out) and Raichu sweeps my team, just as it happened in the original game. No, I don't think I could have played any better than I did.
But you know, you're more than welcome to make a damp rock less rain team yourself and prove me wrong, if you believe my poor play and teambuilding is what caused these results.
