Hard mode isn't hard at al. It'll be down to your own mistakes if you die. If you have food and even leather armor, you shouldn't ever die. I suggest: ULTRA HARDCORE. It's a mod that prevents food from restoring health - although you still lose health if you run out of hunger bars. The only way to restore health is with a Golden Apple (which is created using gold ingots again) and Health Potions (meaning you need to tackle the nether.. and blazes).

You coud keep the same end goal - defeat the Enderdragon, or turn it into a PVP thing like the Ultra Hardcore Highlander with Etho, Guude, kurtjmac et all.

I was actually talking about this a while ago on the server. I think if we did a PvP style thing it would be really fun in like teams of 2 or 3, and if there was a full day/night cycle of peace before any fighting took place. Also it's not at all just grinding for apples and gold. In fact, I think it would be quite entertaining because it pushes you to move towards those goals as fast as possible, but you simultaneously must be very cautious and not lose a hold of yourself.

Guys, I'm so sorry, the enchantment room at spawn got wrecked by a creeper. He was right there outside the door when I opened it, I had no time to react at all.

The main part is still intact, but the lever next to the door ("Turn it all the way to 1") is broken, with part of the walls and the floor. I don't know how the wiring went exactly, if I did, it all would be repaired by now.

The person who build this can probably take care of it quickly, but in case you're not around, I'll do it later - but if I do, the Redstone wire might not be exactly how it was before. Sorry again.

EDIT: I fixed it. Works like a charm again.

I have moved the Forest of What The Actual Fuck

It's near that gravel pathway, so close enough to spawn, I expect many more contributions to this wonderful art display!

So, sal and I were discussing the best way to connect the rail line from his underground wool domes to oho oasis, and he brought the rails out to the bay of oho. That was all fine and dandy, but he made the rails one way only (using detector rails), which limits redstone lag and prevents people crashing into one another. So we decided it would be cool to convert all of smogcraft's rail lines to this format. I have a ton of time on my hands right now, and sal has resources. Who else wants to help us!

PS: that enderman in oho needs to disappear n_n

iirc levers can also be used instead of torches to reduce lag. They're also cheaper than detector rails.

"Oh look, Reginald. It's one of those - oh how should I say this? - 'common' folk."
"Now now, Alexander, don't stare. We mustn't make eye contact lest he mistake our pity for charity"
"The poor lad. I bet he still pays his servants to wipe his rear using non-gold embroidered sanitary wipes."
"Oh come now, I doubt he can even afford servants!"
"Oh ho ho ho, how absolutely dreadful!"
"Mmmyes, I don't see how anyone could possibly justify such a meager existence."

As long as we dont need to move existing rails i'm cool with whatever. Anyway, Spawn <> Oho is converted.

I'm willing to help with the dirty work/interior design if someone who knows how to redstone wants to help

edit: started making the underground of spawn's station larger and doubled the spawn <> lotus line

What needs to be done:

opti isles <> oho oasis needs to be widened to a 3x3 block opening so I can double the lines easily
connect sal <> oho

What about digging canals for boat travelling? It looks like a temptingly small portion of desert to dig through, and some lakes to connect, then The Spawn could be connected to Oho via waterway.

Until boats are fixed in multiplayer not to break, they're still very unreliable as methods of transport.

I still think it would be better and easier in every way to just do a nether railway. There are ways to keep pigs from spawning on the tracks, and it takes very little effort to work out portal issues. I would never even use an overworld rail system anyways, because as it is, it's significantly faster to walk from the spawn portal to any other settlement's portal than to take the rails!

There is little point to any transport system if we get safe roads between nether portals. It takes less than a minute to get to Oho Oasis via the nether road at the moment even with ghasts firing at you. We'd only need overworld transport systems for cases where two settlements connect to the same nether portal, eg. Opti Isles and Oho. In this case it would make sense to have a minecart track and we do have a crude one in place at the moment. To make the trip even quicker, I'd be more than happy to set up a dispenser to fire splash potions of speed at each portal base.

Also if the old End is put back up, I can finally finish my EnderFarm and then maybe we can figure out some way to use those for fast transport although Feather Falling boots will be required for that. That's still a long ways away though.

sorry that i didnt have time yet buddha. I will do my best to get it back up by sunday (unless enough people ask not to upload the old end i guess? in wich case i will pay back the stuff u lost with a significant bonus :) )

I still prefer railways to nether travel, especially since over time the space between settlements (though now large) will start to fill in like Smogcraft 1.0 did. Then, you'll be able to have multiple stops on the same lines which is a ton more efficient than dicking around with nether portals.

I sorta like Nether travelling better than railway travelling. It's safer (if you run fast) and it links everything together nicely. Nobody really put the minecarts back so that was kind of useless, and some of us are too lazy to go mining for iron just to build a minecart that's most likely gonna get misplaced. Not saying that it's a bad way of moving around, but it just feels like the nether is more efficient.

If you guys want to rummage through the world made of cobble and netherrack tumors while you evade ghasts fire balls, sprint over lava, and nudge past pigmen be my guest. Rails look nice and have the added benefit of showing you other settlements you pass (if it's above ground).

Also its nice to be able to travel places by just pressing a button, and then leaving the window for a bit! Not that you often have to run for long distances in the nether generally, but still.

Also forks kills the pigmen too much whenever I happen to use the nether and it never ends well.

Hello red oosos team,

How did it feel to be beasted by boro's distraction and my core rush?

I bet you felt real good going for that diamond node.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with rail travel and I agree when we have settlements further out and when portals overlap minecarts will eventually become necessary. But I think atm portals can do pretty much everything and as for gripes about having safe and pretty roads, I'll take it upon myself to pretty them up I guess for the paths from Spawn to Oho and Spawn to End Portal. It's easy enough to make it safe from all nether mobs as well.

I mean go for it, I'm not saying that you shouldn't do it. However long run minecarts are better suited to our needs, and I'd rather spend time/resources on something that's going to be worth it in the long run.
