i would like to state a public apology to anyone i might have made upset for getting too pissed off at oo:sos all the time :<

Any idea how long these Hunger Game things tend to last? I mean yeah it depends on the number of participants, but are we talking a couple hours max or a longer slog of endurance? I'll put my name down as a "maybe-yes" for now anyway. Pairs would be cool too.

New snapshot 12w22a is out.

Trading with villagers has been updated
  • Villagers can now trade 2 items with you (e.g. 1 emerald 10 gravel -> 10 flint)

Enchantment system has been rebalanced
  • A full enchantment table set with bookshelves doesn't go up to 50, but 30
  • With a full enchantment table set with bookshelves, at the bottom of the 3 enchantments, it always shows you the highest number possible
  • Using level 30 you have a lot more luck; almost all items get at least 2 enchantments
  • Various actions will now reward you with experience orbs, such as mining ores (except gold and iron) and using furnaces
  • FUCK YEAH.

Emerald Ore can be found underground again (only in Extreme Mountain Biomes still)
Added Jungle Temples (video uploading)
Added Tripwire Hooks
Added potions to the creative inventory; found under brewing
Added Block of Emerald
Added delete item, armor and crafting to survival inventory when in creative
Pausing now works again in singleplayer
Some minor terrain changes
Added an "adventure" game mode (/gamemode 2)
  • You cannot break or place any blocks
  • You can interact with any blocks like doors and levers and you can buy things from villagers

Added Silverfish cobblestone and stonebrick spawningblocks to the creative inventory
edit: Added Jungle Temples... WHAT THE HELL GUYS. I'm building one already. At least there's NO chance that the ones Mojang adds are cooler than mine.

edit2: Okay, there's a vid up for the temples, they do look really cool, and are another source of mossy cobble. we might have to expand the map borders. :P

I'm good with playing hunger games in minecraft.

Also, the latest snapshot is cool, but doesn't have quite as much as the last snapshot. That's okay though, considering just how much they put into that one.

Building a reed farm in NH for the inevitable onslaught of books and such to be sold. Donations of slimes, and if anyone has a ton of string or white wool and lime dye that is also a huge help. I've built enough so that it's obvious how to continue building it, go nuts on that part too if you'd like.

I've got a plan for a shell around it to fit in too, may involve more lime wool

I have around half a chest full of slimeballs which I can donate, along with I guess a couple stacks of iron for pistons. And sure I'd be glad to continue building onto it once you get it started.

Since books will also require Leather, Feathers and Ink Sacs, perhaps we should get a decent cow and chicken pen going at spawn. I know people have their own private pens but a communal one can't be a bad idea. As for Ink Sacs, I don't think there's a viable way to make a Squid farm so we'll have to gather that the hard way.

I've built a bit more but that is the basic gist. If someone wants to improve the bud switch go ahead!

This is a serious question.

Am I allowed to build on the roof of the Nether?

I just had a great idea for a Zombie Pigmen farm - if I build it high enough on the roof, I don't need to half-slab a 128x128 area around it to keep the spawning area to where I want it to be since mobs can't spawn on Bedrock.

The thing is, building high up there will load a larger part of the chunks and MIGHT cause some lag in the surrounding area. Also, it will obviously make less mobs spawn down below (although that shouldn't be too bad, depending on how high I go).

As far as getting up there is concerned: I'll just build a portal in the overworld at y=150 or so, which will create a portal on the roof, and once I re-enter that one, it will spawn a new one at where the first one is, but on a lower elevation. I could also use an already existing portal as that third one. Not sure yet, I first want permission in general for the project.

this just happened

We need more oosos players! It's really fun, pretty addicting, only kind of frustrating, and doesn't take too much time. ;-;

Nether lag is already horrible, don't make it worse D:

@Rotom

Besides, it wouldnt make much of a difference since mobs will spawn within 128 blocks of you radially so even on the bedrock floor they can still spawn down below. If you go much higher, you wont have much room to actually make the spawning spaces since you need to be 24 blocks away from the spawning pads as well.

Hi there, its your resident benevolent dictator here.

Let's chat about the rules, shall we? Namely, what the rules actually are, since apparently the days where "don't be a jerk" was sufficient direction are over.

Rule #1: Don't be a jerk.
Rule #2: Do not steal from peoples houses or from chests marked with signs. Chests out in the open are fair game, but as a general rule, logblock the chest and ask the person who last used it what its for. If you're still unsure, leave it.
Rule #3: Do not destroy in any way shape or form (be it by placing blocks, destroying blocks, luring creepers in, setting on fire, or setting traps in or on) something that wasn't built by you. At all. Ever. If you accidentally lure a creeper into someones house, fix it as best you can and let them know. If lightning somehow strikes someones house, try to put it out or something.
Rule #4: Do not flood houses or buildings with chickens or other animals.
Rule #5: If you have to ask if something is ok to do, it's probably not.
Rule #6: Immediate spawn area is reserved for nice things and utilities. If you aren't sure if you should build at spawn, don't. If you haven't planned everything out, don't. Since everyone sees spawn, the restrictions are far more strict, and going a bit further out to mess around is always an option.
Rule #7: Let us know if you have people not generally from smogon who want to also play, but be warned you should make them familiar with our rules and how things work. If your friends prove less desirable don't expect to be able to invite more of them (read: if one of your friends fucks up, you fuck up).

The reason I am making this post is because apparently, some people think that theft and griefing is an ok thing to do on Smogcraft. It's not. dewhinifier is banned for 1 month for theft. Adell is banned forever for his latest heist.

Playing on our server is not a right, it is a privilege. Smogcraft is a privately owned and paid for server that happens to consist of players from Smogon. We want everyone on Smogon to come and play and be a part of the community, and we want people to have fun. By being a jerk, nobody has fun. That's all.

Glad to see you putting your foot down on some of this shit, but...

Rule #4: Do not flood houses or buildings with chickens or other animals.

I could have sworn this rule was broken more often by the server moderator(s) than the regular members!
