Media Minecraft Discussion Thread

It looks nice for sure, but I guess I'm just not a fan of the old school massive Greek styled place for spawn. I dunno it feels not organic enough and too big.
 
ok this is my last try at getting a spawn right for everybody's tastes in this town there is a blacksmith,farm,hotel,food place,beautiful fountains/gardens,2 of each animal in pens for 1.9 breeding,market,library/enchantment room,spare houses and lots of color not just grey! please tell me what you think on here or minecraft :D here's a link to the screen shots http://imgur.com/XG73x,ABA8k,p42o5,6hFJM,2Bv18,I3uYF,1mSmh and its not too big

Man, all I must say is your simple house on the interim server definitely doesn't do justice to these nice maps you've produced...
 
I don't really want to be the guy mentioning this, but... I'm not totally convinced you are making these or at least not mostly copying the designs from somewhere else. You claim to have made the first picture in 3 hours, which I find unusually quick. You said you had difficulty building small scale structures (and I'll be blunt, your house on our server isn't on the same level as the stuff you are posting here), but you've posted a very nice town. You are also only 13, and why I do know that artistic ability can certainly be very strong in even the youngest of people, it does make the case more unusual.

I mean no insult, but you can surely understand my scepticism. By all means prove me wrong by building something kick-ass on our server. :heart:

the reason i built the first one so quick is cos i used mc edit and im waiting till the 1.9 map to make something awsome and no im not copying annything
 
Besides, regardless if he's copying or making them, they're all very nice designs worth looking at for the home spawn town ideals.
 
I'm having some problems with my computer. The PC wont let me download minecraft for some weird reason. I have to play minecraft on the browser in that one. Then there's the fact that I keep on lagging on a netbook. Is a netbook that bad of a computer to play minecraft on?

Oh ya, and if I hear buy a new comp, please understand that I'm just starting high school so I don't have a job yet.

A netbook is that bad of a computer to play anything on...

I would try optifine like others have said. Some other things you can do are in video options, turn off view bobbing, and I'm pretty sure having smooth lighting off decreases the load on your computer too (correct me if I'm wrong guys). You can also turn down your render distance, but if you are above ground it kind of sucks since you can't see everything properly.

So I have been thinking we should update the interim server with the 1.9 pre-releases. I honestly don't care if it is vanilla, getting used to the new features now rather than when the perm server gets set up seems more important than aimlessly building in 1.8. Also, it would be a nice change of pace and probably pretty fun as well. I don't think at this point there are going to be any alterations to the terrain gen either now that the End portals and everything are implemented, so we can just keep updating the server software as Mojang churns these weekly releases out. Do you guys agree, or would you rather keep Bukkit and the map we have now?
 
The server jars are much more unstable, especially the terrain generation and the projectiles. Plus we have no griefer protection, warps and other useful things. Not gonna happen I'm afraid.
 
Would you be supportive of a server with no griefer protection, where you fear for your Diamonds, and you have to go all pvp style and hide them 2000 blocks from spawn hidden within bedrock. Would you be supportive of a server that has no power to catch kids burning your woolen/wooden statue/home?
Im not trying to attack you or anyone, and I hope you dont take my tone the wrong way. Im just trying to point out that shit like this happens.
