except the smogcraft community is strained enough as it is and access is provided as an act of good will

i dig the jail idea, but honestly mods and admins should be faster and more free with bans in order for things to go more smoothyl

I have a better idea than a jail--a pillory. We put offenders in a pillory and give others access to eggs and snowballs they can throw. We could also have a guillotine using gravel and a rack using pistons. Better yet, we could have a full-blown dungeon with a variety of medieval torture devices!
 
jeez if i knew my comment was going to be this big of a deal i would have just built a few bedrock vaults underwater somewhere without telling people where they are

I personally think a gladiator arena would be kind of fun. We throw in the offenders into a giant ring made out of obsidian, and there are piston doors that on the other side, spawners are. All sorts of mobs come out to play, and we see how long the offender can actually last against the everflowing waves of enemies. It would be underground of course, and the obsidian walls would be for any creepers that get thrown into the mix.
 
Sorry to jump on the fun or whatever but if someone gets jailed they will either get banned shortly after or will log off because being jailed sucks ass. So sorry, I doubt any type of "gladiator" or "humility pit" would ever work. The jail (if we have it) isn't gonna be a form of entertainment no matter what you do, and in all honesty will probably be quite boring.
 
You know, something like jail is typically seen as a punishment for doing bad, not ancient spectator sport for everyone like with Romans and stuff...sounds like you guys actually want to be thrown into jail yourselves to give it a whirl or something >.>

Still, what's to stop all of you from organizing some willing gladiator matches in the meantime?
 
i happen to support the irl reformation of the penal system to include a gladiatorial system wherein condemned inmates can fight each other to the death in a televised tournament, the victor winning his freedom along with a sort of morbid glory

but that's not gonna happen on smogcraft, we're just gonna have a shitty bedrock box in the ground somewhere!
 
Then lets just make an arena with leaderboards fighting for ultimate glory on the server. winner gets something nice.

It would be pretty cool to have the arena leaderboards have tier systems.

For example in Uber tier, people are allowed to bring anything they have (super enchanted stuff, except probably not lava since it could destroy a lot of the stuff they might carry)

In OU tier you are allowed no enchanted stuff, a maximum of iron armor and a diamond (or maybe iron) sword, and a bow and arrows. This is just an example of course

somewhat related, but who blew up Shawn and sidscarf's guild base thing? because there was a pretty big crater where our shit used to be and mobs keep spawning in there

Multiverse in a nutshell is a plugin that allows you to switch between different worlds using portals. We could have our original Smogcraft map, and then have a portal leading to the new world at spawn maybe? If forks is down for it. I'm just suggesting it.

I've been looking into multiverse but I have a sneaking suspicion we'd need an even more powerful host than we just upgraded too, which costs money. If more people were able to donate then I wouldn't see a problem but...
 
I have also been looking into multiverse, although for some sort of oosos map thing going on, maybe later after we try out the server for a bit we can try it out. I mean we already have 3 world with the end, nether, and world. It might be something worth testing.

In terms of restarting I don't feel that we have used up this map nearly as much as smogcraft 1. There is still lots of possibility for growth and it's still very possible to find untouched land that is barely a day from spawn.
 
Aussies are blamed for everything i find. Just because we are too awesome to be connected to any other part of the world, we have amazing animals that we eat and dangerous snakes and spiders, doesnt mean we are all terrible people....But alas the guild met its downfall by the mighty iron fist of aussies
 
Whitelist for the new server is up, how can I add myself to it? The link in the #smogcraft irc channel seems to be for the old whitelist (which I probably appear twice on now).
