something else should probably be conferred in case people are busy, or at least a time. i know i can make myself available for then, but other people should speak up just in case.

Trust me, it's not the rotation that I'm worried about with this team. They'll be fine; Guthrie is solid and pitched very well towards the end of last season, Bergeson is still young and has a nasty slider (he struggles when that pitch isn't working for him), and Tillman/Arrieta are former top-25 prospects according to Baseball America. Even behind them, the number three prospect overall in Zach Britton is waiting in the wings in AAA.

The bullpen scares me a bit; there are a bunch of "big" names in Uehara, Gregg, and Gonzalez, but they all have an history of injury. I'm also a bit worried that our free agent acquisitions won't pan out. Reynolds absolutely sucked last year, and it's not as if the pitching he'll face will be any easier. Lee's getting up there in years, and so is Vlad.

Needless to say this team is much better than past years', where we'd play with black holes at certain positions. A lot of things can go wrong, but a lot can also go right. I'm optimistic, something I haven't felt in quite some time as an O's fan. 81 wins is not out of the question.

EDIT: I've also joined the league as Cork Soakers. I've never done an auction fantasy draft before, hopefully I don't muck it up too badly!
 
speaking of having conflicts on the time in the draft, i was wondering if we could push it back an hour? i've just got word that i have a presentation that i have to do all day and im not sure when im getting back, sometime between 7-8, and i'd rather not risk it. if its an inconvenience, ill try my best to get back, but im not sure.

Add (at least) OPS to hitting, maybe OBP. For pitching, maybe Quality Starts and K/BB ?

If you dont add the pitching please at least add OPS.
 
I changed it to sunday at noon EST because I can't make saturday

also we have 11 people somehow so we need a 12th to be able to draft. someone invite a friend...
 
That's 4 am for me Jackal :/ if eastern is GMT -5 like I think it is. It isn't possible this Monday especially. Maybe it's easier if I don't play this season, you might be able to make do with 10 players anyway.
 
im showing up at 11.59am tomorrow. if we aren't drafting, a pookar is gonna get mashed.
 
I got some alright players but the lackof good starting pitchers + outfielders (and all my good 3B eligible players!) is a pain, thanks autodraft >.<

EDIT: Jackson and especially Bruce could be really good so we'll see how that turns out

on a side note, i find it awesome that you are an Aussie who appreciates baseball. most smogoners in general don't like baseball and you can forget about those that aren't American (or Canadian for lil Jackal and tinier moi)!
 
Haha I still maintain that struggling through the season with subpar pitching was worth the sleep! But seriously, thanks man :). And a non-bandwagoner (kind of impossible to be a bandwagoner and a Rangers fan) Aussie baseball fan at that! At home, cricket is kind of a big deal and between the fact that baseball is essentially a more exciting version of cricket, has the most advanced stats of pretty much any sport (I'm in love with that kind of thing) and is a major American sport (I give you all the benefit of the doubt when it comes to liking good sports because I was already a lifelong basketball fan and a pretty big NFL fan when I decided to start following baseball) so what's not to love? Not to mention its (in my opinion) the sport that's most likely to have upsets regularly so its pretty entertaining from a spectators point of view. Oh on a side note, autodraft seems to have gifted me with multiple Mets players aamto so we'll probably be cheering for a lot of the same players throughout the duration of the season. Never thought that in this life time I'd be willing on Jose Reyes to get back to his 50 SB form (hey, one can dream right?) or praying that David Wright will be a 4/5 cat player going for 30/30 with 100 + RBI's and a decent enough average.

EDIT: What the fuck, Jeter was my first round pick and the 4th overall? What the fuck was autodraft smoking :/
 
It was an auction draft, so it didn't really matter what the order was of players that you drafted. All that matters is who bid the most fake dollars for the player.
 
Ah crap, I missed the draft :/ Ah well, I guess I can make it work with what I have. My team isn't ultra horrible.

I have two catchers (McCann & Soto). Anyone interested?

The Jays have looked really great as well. I still don't know why they're playing Encarnacion over Jayson Nix, but I'm hoping there's a trade brewing so the Jays can cut some dead weight (either EE or Juan Rivera), and maybe get even younger in the process.

Still keeping my expectations low. Might be a hell of a rebuilding year though.
 
i REALLY hope yunel is ok, for both my fantasy team and for my jays :( :(
