Well, I have a feeling it's gonna be another long year for the Dbacks, though I'll stay positive for now...after all, the season just started. But still, that cactus league w-l record was horrible...

Kinda afraid the giants aren't even going to make the playoffs this year. Going to see them today, and of course I get f-ing Sanchez pitching against the Cardinals. Please win!

Got offered to go to Yanks/Red Sox in Boston but I couldn't go because of work :(

Who the hell would've thought that the Orioles would be wrecking this early? Showalter 4 Manager of the Year!

Rangers are the last undefeated team left ^_^ and the second last undefeated team (the Reds) are looking like they'll be more dangerous then they were last season en route to winning their division. Of course it's only 6 games and my boys from Arligton could crumble but here's to being optimistic and crossing my fingers for solid 3, 4, 5 pitching in particular :)

Not sure if there's anything to look forward to as a D-backs fan anymore. There's the draft in June, but all signs point to us landing Hultzen. I don't want Hultzen.

Future looks fucking great as a jay fan on the other hand...

Drabek simply did not have it tonight, literally couldn't find the strike zone, but still gritted out a 6 IP 2 run performance en route to a Jays win. I am much more pleased with this start, even though he was amazing in his first start. This one just shows that even when he is off, he will still give us a chance to win. To say that about a 21 year old making his 6th start in the bigs is awesome.

...s since we went through this last year? xD

sure feels great to be a Rangers fan though

Orioles, Royals, Pirates starting strong...who wants to bet against me that only 1- stay .500+ :@ Indians are always either a 90 win or crap team, so no judgement on them :P

Red Sox only had 10 games under .500 in the last 7 seasons. They are guaranteed to at least double that this season so far...freaking crazy

Well that was a nice response on the back end of the doubleheader! I wonder if Britton and Harrison are as legit respectively as they've looked in their first two starts.

that was the most bullshit call ive ever witnessed live.

im so furious right now i cant believe it.

FUCK

Are you guys familiar with hittrackeronline? Great website that keeps track of home run distances. Justin Upton has the two longest bombs this year. What a BEAST. Him and Jason Heyward will be the best players in the league before long.

Last 9 games for the red sox: 8-1, era under 2.50. Dice-K threw 8 innings with 1 hit no earned runs and 9k's, Beckett is dominant again. FINALLY.

Don't forget how great Jed Lowrie has been. On the topic of Dice K, I took a flier on him in fantasy cause he looked downright scary in his last two starts; particularly 9 k's and 1 h against an Angels line up that im all too familiar with in terms of explosiveness (they shelled my Rangers :/). Here's hoping he produces!

Oh sorry for the double post, but I just had to ask everyone whether its just me or not, but Kevin Youklis' pre-swing routine is probably the most retarded thing I've ever seen, so much wasted motion!

Yeah, Youkilis' little ceremony he goes through is odd at best. Reminds me of John Rocker when he used to pitch!

Speaking of which, fucking Braves...they've remained a perfectly mediocre team this season.

I hate to point fingers (No, wait, no I don't!) but a lot of the blame falls on Fredi Gonzalez in my opinion. He is completely inept when it comes to the bullpen; the two recent examples that come to mind are leaving Tim Hudson into the 9th when he was at 110+ pitches and then taking him out when he was 1 out away from a CG (Fredi didn't even have anyone up in the bullpen at the start of the 9th!), plus leaving Beach into the 8th inning against the Cardinals instead of turning it over to Venters-Kimbrel.

Speaking of Venters and Kimbrel, I find it completely asinine that Venters has only had ONE save opportunity. Venters has pitched 14.2 innings, given up 1 run (0.61 ERA), with 14 strikeouts and 4 walks. Kimbrel has pitched 11.2 innings, given up 3 runs (2.31 ERA), with 15 Ks and 4 BBs. However, Kimbrel's already blown 2 saves this season, while Venters hasn't even had the chance to have more than one save opportunity. They're both great pitchers, amazing when you consider their age, but Venters is without a doubt the better of the two. It's not just numbers, however; Venters has better placement, and they have about the same velocity. It's generally too much pressure for one guy (young guy that is) to repeatedly come out and get saves for your team. You have two, completely capable closers; why not switch them out? Let the hot hand pitch in the 9th?

To continue ranting on Fredi's ineptness, consider how long he left McLouth in the 2nd spot of the lineup. Yeah...

Clay Buchholz is a boss. Five great innings through a 2 hour+ rain delay and the Red Sox shut out the Twins.

Hope that we can overtake at least the Rays, I'm hoping for a wild card this season.

yo guys i was just thinking how great it would be to ask someone their thoughts on a move in my fantasy league, but the people who would actually know are in my fantasy league so i dont want to ask them. then, lo and behold, i was like "oh isnt there a sports thread on smogon?" which led me here to ask your opinion.

my pitching staff is (since batting is not involved in the potential pick up):
clayton kershaw
josh johnson
chris carpenter
wandy rodriguez
josh beckett
francisco liriano

so anyway, what i was thinking was getting rid of Francisco Liriano (to free agents) and picking up jhoulys chacin. Liriano has been a complete mess this year and totally unreliable. i know hes supposed to be good, but frankly every start hes had has been completely awful with the exception of his no hitter (which wasnt even that impressive with 6 walks). Chacin has been great so far and i really need someone who is more reliable than liriano. my only question is whether hes a fluke or the real deal

so i want your input: will liriano get it together or is chacin a better bet?

His BABIP is a fair bit below the MLB average, and his K/9 rate is only average too. Having said that, you have Johnson + Kershaw who already have high K rates. Only thing is that seeing as he isn't a SO pitcher (and I'm not sure if he's a ground ball pitcher - you should find that out) that you need to decide whether his ERA and WHIP (the only two real reasons you'd own him seeing as wins depend on run support a lot too) can be realistically maintained at a high performing level. Liriano has been horrid this year though, so I would definitely scour the waiver wire for a replacement. Who are your other options?
