I'm depressed... Brandon "check swing" "I can't cut it in the majors anymore" ".049 BA" (Cr)Inge is back.... AAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHH!!!!!!!

Being in the AL once before has no bearing on potential realignment - if that was the reasoning that was used for them jumping ship to the other league, MLB is doing something really wrong. Besides, what would you do, move them to the AL Central, and then move one of the other five mid east teams that are already there to the AL West? That just doesn't make much sense at all. Milwaukee just isn't a logical fit for realignment.

Yeah, neither does moving the D-Backs to the AL just to move someone else from the NL Central to the NL East. I still think Houston is the best bet for the whole thing if it goes through.

At least you don't got Darnell ".170" McDonald... Tito is out of his mind to platoon him with Reddick...

*NL Central to NL West... Besides, what makes moving Arizona to the AL a bad idea? It's a lot closer than Houston is to the other AL West teams, and saying, "it's a bad idea because two teams have to move," is really dumb reasoning IMO. The amount of teams moving has no significance.

Also, neither of you have heard of Sean Burroughs... his AVG is higher than his OBP lol...

Damn. I stand corrected. I kind of feel real embarrassed. I've never missed a Red Sox game since I was 7, and I never know that. I guess I'm not as big of a baseball fan as I thought. I'll go back to lurking.

Well, I guess Sean Burroughs decided to take a walk lol... Also, it's not impossible. Sacrifice flies don't count as an at bat. And lastly, getting caught extending a hit won't have any effect.

sorry bwebber but alex anthopolous strikes again and just robbed your diamondbacks silly.

I actually really really like this move for the Jays, seeing as it gives Brett Lawrie a position next year and frees up some cash.

The deal is alright for the Jays considering they weren't going to resign Aaron Hill and will get Johnny Mac back anyway (judging by how he was talking during the press conference). Even if they don't resign Johnson they can get draft picks at least. And as the post above mine says, Wallace was traded for Gose (one trade AA made I don't agree with, but still a good track record and I guess Adam Lind had to be given playing time somewhere).

I just looked up Adeiny Hechavarria's stats wondering how long it will take until he will be MLB ready and his AAA stats look pretty impressive, even though it's only 11 games in (I hope either he or Escobar can move to 2B).

Unimpressive AA stats though. .235 in 111 games in Dunedin, but .435 in LV in 11 games. Hopefully he will be MLB ready in 2013 or midway through 2012 if he can somehow keep this pace up. Like where the team is going though.

Interesting trade, sorry to see Hill go, hoped to see him get back on track but then I would having watched the team for the past 7 years >.< Agreeing in that it is a solid trade particularly since Johnny Mac will be back anyway *thumbs up*.

Sorry i meant Brett LAWRIE not WALLACE.

Anyway yeah Toronto is really looking up. If they manage to snag one of the top flight free agent pitchers in '13 they could be the next Rays. Their rotation is solid as-is, they have good young position players at prime positions (Arencibia, Lind, Bautista, Lawrie, Escobar, Rasmus, Hecchiavara and Gose eventually). AA is doing an extremely good job and it makes me scared ;_;

I thought he got moved to second base from third because of poor fielding at third gdi. Facts I know about Brett Lawrie: he is a good hitting infielder who was called up recently, he had broken his hand earlier in the year around May, he plays either second or third. ANYTHING ELSE?!?!?

Yahoo fantasy sports writers think he's the second coming of jesus lol.

That was hardly a robbery. Kelly Johnson really isn't great, and while he's on the cusp on it, he probably won't become a Type A free agent. Even if he does I can't see him turning down arbitration. I'm not excusing that deal though... It was still incredibly stupid. I want to shank Kevin Towers. He has this ridiculous obsession with keeping high K players off of the team, even if it means they can walk, hit for power, or play defense. Fuck him. In some ways I hope we didn't do well this year just so it gives us a good reason to fire him.

Also, regarding Hechavarria, I'd stop trying to project him. He's done nothing to suggest he can hit at an even acceptable rate in the majors. Defense first players are hard enough to judge as it is considering you really have a hard time judging defense just by watching a guy play. Future utility man, and that's if he doesn't get eaten alive by minor league pithers like he had been so far.

I guess it really comes down to 5 weeks of John MacDonald (who is the fucking man btw and will more than likely come back to us <3) and arguably the worst major league regular over the last two seasons for someone who is OPSing .700 in an off year at a premium position and is one year removed from a 5.9 WAR season.

The fact that Arizona's infield on a given night could potentially be

1B: Lyle Overbay
2B: Aaron Hill
SS: Jonny Mac
3B: Ryan Roberts

is probably the most fucking hilarious thing I have ever heard, as they all played on the jays together in '06 and '07, and the fact that this is actually a playoff bound team is laughable at best. Those are 4 really bad players and shouldn't even be in any sort of playoff conversation.

As for Kelly Johnson, I think the move from the NL West to AL East has proven to help offensive numbers, and I reasonably expect him to hover around .750 OPS to close the year. I can see AA bringing him back, and you never know, we could have the next yunel escobar on our hands!

That's kind of an unfair assessment of a 22 year old who doesn't speak English well. Some players develop later than others, and hitting may very well come for him later. I'm not saying he's going to be the next Cano at 2B or anything, but if the Jays plan on looking for a temporary replacement through FA and a long term replacement in the minors, like I think will happen, he's going to be the guy.

Fielding is more important for a second baseman than a third baseman. It scares the crap of me thinking of Brett Lawrie at 2B. I can't see him fielding clean double plays as well as other Major Leaguers can. Need to keep him at third.

Also I've been wondering this for a while: what can the Jays do with David Cooper and Adam Loewen? Cooper is still a decent 1B prospect, and the Jays already have too many outfielders and Lind at 1B, so these guys seem like odd men out (or any of the young outfielders really). Now that I think about it, they could be trade bait for relievers/2B, which are really what the Jays need. I don't think Loewen and Cooper can do much more in AAA and Loewen can't be sent back down if he's brought up.

Roberts has posted 3.2 WAR this season. hardly awful; in fact, it's very good. the other guys, though? lol

nobody seems to want to win the West. even the Rockies, 6 games under .500, are only 8.5 games out of first. if they win, that division should cede its playoff spot and be abolished for next year.

the giants are trying but they are the 2010 mets or something

everyone is dead. wilson beltran posey currently. romo, panda, belt, ross, tejada, crawford, sanchez at one point or more.

So the Injuns traded for Thome. It's speculation, but i think they realized there's no way they're catching up to the Tigers and felt this was the best way to troll them.
